Kate McCann's buddy Esther McVey becomes Works & Pensions Secretary
The long time buddy of Kate McCann and chat show host turned highbrow politician has been appointed Work & Pension Secretary in today's cabinet reshuffle.
Let's hope she applies the same due diligence and prudence to looking after everyone's pension as she did when running the Leaving No Stone Unturned Fund.
Yet another small piece of evidence as to how some people in politics are desperately looked after by the Establishment. Esther appears to comeback quicker than a boomerang tied to a stiff piece of bungee cord.

And McCann supporter Oprah Winfrey is running for president.
What's next? Lorraine Kelly or Piers Morgan for Prime Minister?

Re: Kate McCann's buddy Esther McVey becomes Works & Pensions Secretary
Esther McVey is now in the cabinet.
She clearly has support from above. (As does a friend of hers we could mention.) She lost her seat in 2015 and then got the Tory candidacy in George Osborne's old seat, with its large majority, for the 2017 general election. That's nice work if you can get it. In between, she was chairman of the British Transport Police Authority. (I wonder whether she was ever involved in any matter to do with sniffer dogs?)
There's a new permanent secretary at her department too, Philip Schofield (not to be confused with his namesake the TV personality).
And Kevin Halligen has been found dead.
It's all happening!
My 2017 post on McVey is here , and a longer one from 2013 is here.
I see the Labour party has discovered some of the information I referred to in 2013, about McVey's "dodgy demolition in the North West" business background. She's, y'know, from a "family" with "faces", if I can put it in that way. Don't forget she admires William Lever.
You wonder how far she'll go. I won't be surprised if she gets the Home Office or health. She is one to watch, and she has been for some time. It may turn out to be of no small relevance to the topic of this website that Kate McCann now has a close friend in the British cabinet.

Re: Kate McCann's buddy Esther McVey becomes Works & Pensions Secretary
Benefit Snatcher McVey has shocking link to Samaritans
A “SACK Esther McVey” campaign has been revitalised after the shock revelation that she sits on the advisory board of the Samaritans.
Now Work & Pensions Secretary, the then disabilities minister was responsible for attacking the benefits of 1.2 million disabled people under the Con-Dem coalition.
Her benefit “sanctions” policy was blamed for suicides among benefit recipients who faced destitution after losing their income. Samaritans charity workers offer a listening ear to people in emotional distress, particularly those contemplating suicide.
Ms McVey lost her Wirral West seat in 2015 after a sustained campaign by trade union and labour activists that exposed her role in the attacks on disabled people, but in the 2017 election she was given the safe Tory seat of Tatton in Cheshire, which she held with a majority of more than 14,000.
Prime Minister Theresa May promptly promoted her to Work & Pensions Secretary, giving her even more power to attack vulnerable people.
The Sack Esther McVey campaign has now switched from Wirral to Tatton.
Campaign convener Alec McFadden said: “The fact that she is on the Samaritans’ advisory board could not be more ironic, considering the number of people driven to suicide by her inhumane policies.”
A Samaritans spokesman said: “Esther McVey joined Samaritans’ advisory board when chair of the British Transport Police Authority, which is one of the partners we work with to reduce suicides in the rail environment.
“Our advisory board provides informal support to Samaritans, helping us increase our potential to influence and fundraise.”

You couldn't make it up, you really could not. Sorry to say it again but I AM SICK OF THE LOT OF THEM.
I woud say what a joke - (but unfortunely it is far from a JOKE) especially for those who have and are still suffering from her policies.
I hope she is sacked as she should never have been given another chance to become an MP imo.

Almost akin to Margaret Hodge, in 1990, being embroiled in the Islington child abuse scandal where she refused additional investigations only for the odious Mr Blair, 13 years later, to make her his Minister for Children !!!!!

First post on here - hi everyone. Absolutely love this forum and the amount of information on here.
Esther McVey is one of the most heartless women ever to stand on this earth. I am a campaigner and also Joint CEO of a mental wellbeing charity and hear and read complaints about her apathetic and callous attitude every single day; her blatant lack of humanity and her support for policies she knows create difficulty and damage in vulnerable peoples' lives.
It surprises me not that these 2 ice maidens are such good friends. Not a heart between them.
Keep up the fabulous work everyone. I'll enjoy reading all the posts (if I can get through them all!)

They're all in it together - to keep the plebs down and make as much as they can for themselves and theirs.
I do wish she would shut that gruff old voice of hers. Fancy posing in fancy lingerie and having to listen that voice. Doesn't bear thinking about.
These people have no shame.
pah.

Re: Kate McCann's buddy Esther McVey becomes Works & Pensions Secretary
Esther McVey trousered £17,000 payoff for quitting Cabinet after just 10 months
DWP accounts show the welfare chief took a £16,876 golden goodbye for resigning - months after she admitted families were "worse off" under Universal Credit
Tory welfare chief Esther McVey trousered a £17,000 payoff when she quit the Cabinet - after just 10 months in the job.
The MP took the £16,876 golden goodbye for resigning as Work and Pensions Secretary over Brexit last November.
At the time the hard Brexiteer claimed she “could not look constituents in the eye” if she backed Theresa May ’s deal.
Now she must face them over her bumper payout - which came months after she confessed some Universal Credit claimants would be "worse off" under her watch.
Ms McVey earned the equivalent of £67,505 as welfare chief on top of her MP's salary, now worth £79,468.
Her severance payment was almost as much as the Tories' £20,000 cap on household benefits for an entire year.
It comes despite new figures showing the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) underpaid £1.9bn of benefits in 2018/19, the highest since records began in 2005.
The DWP also overpaid a record £4bn of benefits due to errors or fraud - 4.6% of all benefit spending, the National Audit Office revealed.
Auditor General Gareth Davies said he was "concerned" and warned overpayments are expected to rise even further due to errors with people reporting income in Universal Credit.
Labour MP Neil Coyle, a member of the Commons Work and Pensions Committee, branded the payoff a "kick in the teeth".
He said: "She did nothing in the job, she lied to the Commons about what she was doing and still managed to walk away with multiples of the annual benefit for some of our most disadvantaged citizens in a year.
“She shouldn’t have taken a penny.
“It is the latest kick in the teeth for those who support a genuine social security system in this country.”
He added: "There's a legitimate question about whether Cabinet ministers who quit should be entitled to anything.
"It’s their choice. They’re not claiming constructive dismissal."
Shadow Employment Minister Mike Amesbury said: "A Cabinet minister receiving such a large pay-out, especially after resigning of their own accord, is totally unacceptable.
"This news is a real blow to the 14 million people, including four million children, living in poverty in the UK as a result of cruel cuts to social security, low pay and high housing costs."
Ms McVey was handed her severance payment - worth three months' salary - in line with Cabinet Office rules and it appeared in DWP accounts published today.
The accounts show a second DWP minister, pro-EU Sarah Newton, received a smaller £7,920 payoff when she quit in a bid to block a No Deal Brexit in March.
They also show Universal Credit chiefs took home bumper bonuses despite a litany of complaints about the benefit.
UC's then-Director General Neil Couling received at least £5,000 while another top UC director, John Paul Marks, received at least £10,000.
Charities and campaigners say flaws in UC's rollout has forced people into rent arrears, pushed them to food banks and even driven some to "survival sex".
The DWP argues it has shortened waiting times, boosted advances and launched 'run-on' payments for housing.
Meanwhile auditors have complained the DWP is overpaying Universal Credit by 8.6%, the highest of any benefit.
