Re: Gemma O'Doherty investigative journalist will soon publish details of her investigation into the Madeleine McCann case
Gemma O'Doherty is a multi award-winning Irish investigative journalist, known for her work in exposing corruption in the criminal justice system and the police. Her reporting on the 1985 death of Fr. Niall Molloy brought about a reopening of that case and led to the scandal being described in the Irish parliament as the biggest cover-up in the history of the state. She has also exposed police malpractice in the Mary Boyle case, the Raonaid Murray murder, the Jim Goonan case and others.[1][2][3]
O'Doherty was Chief Features Writer at the Irish Independent where she worked for 16 years until her boss Stephen Rae, a former editor of the Garda Review, sacked her after she exposed the fact that the chief of police Martin Callinan, then head of the Garda Síochána (the national police force), had speeding points wiped.[4][5][6]
Her experience led to allegations of a cover-up at the heart of the Irish establishment.[7] Her 2016 documentary 'Mary Boyle: The Untold Story' about the police cover-up of Ireland's longest missing person, which she released on YouTube has been viewed almost 600,000 times.

What another one?
My first thought - funny place/way to announce a groundbreaking exposé of the baffling mystery of Madeleine McCann's disappearance.
We shall see - or not as the case may be. Meanwhile - what documentary ?

Gemma's documentary about Mary Boyle was very good, but the little girl still hasn't had justice.

I'll wager that in certain cases the UK police curse investigative journalists, I can't imagine the Met Police and it's Operation Grange welcoming interference by anyone with constructive information concerning the case of Madeleine McCann, for example. As CMoMM research group will verify.
It would be interesting to learn the source of Gemma O'Doherty's information.

Re: Gemma O'Doherty investigative journalist will soon publish details of her investigation into the Madeleine McCann case
To date Gemma O'Doherty has proven a courageous and tenacious journo. Her involvement in the Mary Boyle case (for example) was instrumental in having it raised and discussed (most reluctantly) in the Dail (Irish Parliament) sessions and at the European Parliament. At the moment Mary Boyle's mother insists that she does not want an inquest into her daughter's disappearance/suspected death, and has requested and lobbied that such a hearing does not take place. As she is the official next-of-kin the coroner has stated that he feels obliged to respect this wish. Many believe that the findings of an inquest could be the catalyst which kickstarts a reactivation of the investigation but with the next-of-kin resisting nothing has happened.

Her investigation of the 1985 death of the priest was very interesting.
And shocking at the level of corruption.
The guy (Flynn) initially admitted killing the priest to the Police, it went to court and the judge using verbal gymnastics instructed the jury to return a "not guilty" verdict.
The judge was a friend of the Flynn family.
Also the church originally wanted the Police to cover up the murder.
I think she did a good job.

Some interesting parallels to another case we are all interested in.
Family claims she was abducted.
Contradictory statements...

Are they old tweets or recent?
I think she's pretty fearless when it comes to challenging authority.
She may need some help with details.

They're today's tweets BlueBag.
Not sure why she would need help with details when she's an investigative journalist.

Maybe she's been listening to the wrong people.
Don't curse the darkness when you can light a candle.
Her work on Father Molloy and Mary Boyle is good.

It did have everything we have seen in the Madeleine McCann case and I recommend everyone watch it.
The chief suspect has never been questioned by the Police, the Police were told to keep away from him by politicians.
There were a number of (failed) attempts to frame known sex-offenders by the media.
The Police keep banging on about "kidnap" and won't consider other scenarios.
The chief suspect is politically connected.

Re: Gemma O'Doherty investigative journalist will soon publish details of her investigation into the Madeleine McCann case
As regards the case of Madeleine McCann, I think Gemma O'Doherty is in much the same position as the rest of us.
Watching part of the video about Mary Boyle posted up-page by bluebag (The Untold Story - interesting title!), Ms O'Doherty was able to interview key witnesses, getting well up to speed on the finer detail of the case. What possible chance is there of pursuing the same course in the case of Madeleine McCann?
The CMoMM research group have been working tirelessly for years trying to get to the truth. That's a 'group', trawling through every available piece of information that might throw further light on the mystery. We're getting there but there's still a way to go.
Major stumbling block - lack of evidence! Or in the words of Gerry McCann "no evidence", to be read with a thick Glaswegian accent.
The case of Madeleine spreads across Europe into North Africa and various other parts of the globe - north south east and west. Operation Grange are said to have coordinated all documentation appertaining to the case but they've also ignored and archived (or possibly shredded) volumes of documentation so what chance is there for Ms O'Doherty to get to the real truth as a lone crusader?
To produce a documentary on the case of Madeleine McCann, she can only have studied available documentation and been in consultation with people outside of any official investigation to further her knowledge of the case. It's not possible to produce a balanced informative evidenced documentary on the subject of Madeleine McCann without knowledgeable input from a wide range of reliable sources.
As far as I'm aware, Ms O'Doherty has not been in consultation with CMoMM - so where does she get her information? If this documentary materializes, I don't think it will be anything sensational - it's all be done before.
Remember the group of retired detectives who produced a documentary having spent time over in Praia da Luz unofficially investigating? Then there is the other 'Untold Story' that's yet to be told.

Maybe Gemma reads CMoMM.
I would certainly hope so.
An offer could be made to her for help if she needs it.
I think she is genuine (the Mary Boyle film is a real shot at the establishment) but may not be up to speed.

Publish where and in what form?
If it is Youtube vid then nothing will change.
If, however, it were to be anything like Richard Hall's vids and get on telly, that would make a difference, and then some.

That was an interesting point that was suggested. There's a phenomenon in sexual abuse families that occurs. If a mother is abused as a child. And then their child is a abused. The mother sometimes don't do much about it. It's a sort of, 'I went through it, so you have to too'.
I'm sure the subject has been covered here before.

Re: Gemma O'Doherty investigative journalist will soon publish details of her investigation into the Madeleine McCann case
The main suspect in the Mary Boyle case is a member of her mother's family. The police investigating at the time were (by their own admission) told to ease off during questioning him just as they felt he was on the point of confessing. This allegedly occurred after an intervention by a politician who knew him well. There is no suggestion of a paedophile ring cover-up, rather it was a powerful man doing a favour for a political crony. Because politics stymied the original investigation, now all political parties and the Gardai do not want what happened revisited. The mother does not seem want to investigate the possibility that a member of her own family is responsible, even though the dead girl's identical twin has publicly stated her belief that this is what happened. I would expect Gemma O'Doherty to do a thorough job of any program she undertakes. Perhaps she will get to speak to the Smith family. Given that they are Irish, I would be astonished if she didn't contact them to see what they might have to say. They may or may not engage with her but I feel their response either way could be of interest.
