The UK Parliament has been hit by a cyber security attack, the Liberal Democrat peer Lord Rennard has said.
The peer revealed on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] there was a problem, writing that Parliamentary emails "may not work remotely" and "urgent messages" should be sent by text.
According to the Daily Telegraph, MPs were alerted to the hack on Friday night and later reported problems accessing their email accounts.

The list also included the password of former Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood, who oversaw the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

The passwords are said to have been offered for sale on a Russian-language site. There is no statement that the hackers who got them were Russian.
It's interesting that out of the 7000 current and former police officers whose accounts are supposed to have been compromised, the media name only one: Andy Redwood.
