Metodo 3 boss Francisco Marco has been giving evidence to the Catalonia Commssion on FRAUD and CORRUPTION
On and off I have been following the fortunes of former Metodo 3 boss Francisco Marco...
Marco gives evidence to the Catalonia Commission on Fraud and Corruption
...and his colleagues, ever since they were caught up two years ago in the ‘illegal taping scandal’. As a reminder, this involved Marco and his colleagues setting up illegal recording devices on one of Barcelona’s top restaurants where they recorded top, corrupt politicians talking to each other. When Metodo 3 arranged for these very sensitive conversations to be reported in a newspaper, a major political scandal erupted. Marco himself, his colleague Julian Peribanez who worked on the McCann case, and I think at last two other two Metodo 3 employees were all remanded in custody on serious charges. Peribanez swiftly admitted his guilt and was swiftly released and may have given evidence against his former colleagues.
Metodo 3 is currently featuring in what I think is a major Commission of Enquiry into Fraud and Corruption in Catalonia.
Him again
One of the prime suspects to be investigated is former Catalan President Jordi Pujos, who it appears salted away massive amounts of money in the tax haven of Andorra.
Francisco Marco is one of those being questioned – see the links and videos which unfortunately are mostly in Spanish or Catalan. Maybe one of our Spanish readers here could kindly give us a handle on what the Commission is doing and on what Marco had to say for himself.
It’s worth reminding ourselves of a few historical points about Metodo 3:
1. It is claimed they were appointed by the McCann Team in September 2007, but there were indications that they may have been employed before then
2. They were undoubtedly appointed and run, on the Madeleine McCann enquiry, by Cheshire businessman Brian Kennedy, who spends half of his year in Spain in a villa in or near Barcelona
3. They had a reputation as the most corrupt detective agency in Barcelona, before and after they were used by the McCanns
4. Metodo 3 had no experience whatsoever in finding missing persons or children. They did have experience in money-laundering, fraud and telephone tapping
5. In January 2008 Christine Toomey interviewed Francisco Marco and wrote an article for the Times highly critical of his claims and boasts. She wrote: “There is no discernible ringing of telephones; little sign of activity of any kind, other than a woman searching for a lead to take a pet poodle for a walk and the occasional to-ing and fro-ing of workmen putting finishing touches to the sleek remodelling of the office complex. Opposite the boardroom is an open-plan area of around half a dozen cubicles, equipped with banks of phones and computers. Most are empty when I arrive…”
6. Their boss Francisco Marco, in December 2007, lied and lied again by claiming that Madeleine was ‘alive’, that his men ‘knew where Madeleine was’, were ‘closing in on the kidnappers and finally that ‘Maddie would be home by Christmas
7. Brian Kennedy and Metodo 3 appointed the strange and lying lawyer Marcos Aragao Correia to help them. He was tasked with representing murderess-of-her-own-child Leonor Cipriano in her ludicrous criminal case against Goncalo Amaral (who solved her crime) and four of his detective colleagues
8. On 8 April 2008 Correia met with Cipriano for the first time to plan their prosecution of Amaral
9. On 10 December 2007 Francisco Marco travelled 500 miles to the Arade Dam, Portugal, with his colleague, Antonio Giminez Raso, where they met with Correia. Together the three men planned wht was to prove to be two sham searches of the Arade Dam for Madeleine’s bones in January and March 2008. It is not known for certain whether this project was personally approved by the McCanns
10. Antonio Giminez Raso was arrested in February 2008 and spent the next 4 years in a Barcelona jail awaiting trial on serious charges of police corruption, misconduct in a public office, and theft of millions of puinds worth of cocaine from a boat in Barcelona harbour. He was acquitted in 2012 but only after the judge lectured him on having been ‘far too close’ to a 27-strong criminal gang that ‘practised extreme violence’. He had been a top police officer in the Catalonian Regional Drugs Squad but left under a cloud in December 2003 and soon afterwards joined Metodo 3.

Former Catalan President Jordi Pujol insists on previous statements on fiscal fraud in parliamentary hearing
CNA (Catalonian News Agency)
Barcelona (ACN).- On Monday, before the Catalan Parliament's commission investigating fraud and corruption, former President of the Catalan Government Jordi Pujol testified in order to address potential irregular activities during his years in government and the confession he made last July about his family's alleged fiscal fraud.
Pujol was asked to talk before the parliamentary committee despite having been indicted by the judge and having already testified in front of her in January, thereby doing so during an ongoing judicial process.
Pujol, who ran the Catalan Executive for 23 consecutive years between 1980 and 2003, did not add any new information and refused to answer many questions, referring to his previous statement before the judge and the previous hearing before the Catalan Parliament in September.
He stressed that his family's money did not come from irregular public funds or any form of corruption, and criticised the current parliamentary commission for not sufficiently proving their accusations. He also apologised for the "tension" during his last parliamentary hearing, when he was made visibly angry by some questions posed by MPs.
Pujol's wife, Marta Ferrusola, who is also indicted and who has previously testified before the judge, also spoke before the parliamentary commission. Ferrusola did answer some questions, despite it having been said during the morning that she would not be giving any answers in her afternoon hearing. She stressed that she "never" travelled to Andorra to manage funds and said her sons and daughters "do not have a penny". Later on, Pujol's eldest son, who is indicted in many judicial cases, also testified and offered detailed explanations about his business activities, denying any involvement with Catalonia's public sector.
A hearing caused by Pujol's confession in July
Former Catalan President Jordi Pujol, aged 84, has once again testified before a parliamentary committee to speak about his fiscal fraud confession but also to answer questions about alleged corruption cases involving his family. He already did so in late September, after he shocked Catalan society on the 25th of July when he issued a press release confessing that his family had been keeping a fortune in the fiscal haven of Andorra since 1980 without informing the Spanish tax authorities.
This confession shocked Catalan society, since Jordi Pujol had been the historic leader of conservative Catalan nationalism since the 1970s up until 2003. Furthermore, he had been an essential person in the fight against Franco, the return to democracy, the development of Catalonia's self-rule and the normalisation of Catalan language and culture after decades of political repression. Pujol was also an essential figure in rallying support for many Spanish governments in the 1990s, a crucial factor in Spain's accession to the Eurozone.
Artur Mas was not aware of the money in Andorra, says Pujol
In response to specific questions from MPs, Jordi Pujol repeated on many occasions that he had already answered that particular question during his judicial testimony on the 27th of January. Furthermore, he also insisted that on the 26th of September, in a previous parliamentary hearing to speak about his July confession, he already gave information about many of the issues they asked about. He repeated that the money kept by his family in Andorra came from a donation from his father made to Pujol's wife, sons and daughters in 1980, during the immediate years after Franco's dictatorship. The money was supposed to be a life-jacket if Pujol's political activities brought problems to the family, in times when the return of the dictatorship was a real possibility.
Pujol insisted that he came to the Catalan Parliament in September, despite "not being legally obliged" to do so. In addition, he emphasised that Artur Mas, the current President of the Catalan Government and leader of the Liberal party CDC, founded by Pujol in the late 1970s, was not aware of the money in Andorra since the day of the morning of the confession day.
Pujol also said that he does not know the details of his sons' and daughters' businesses. However, he did stress that "investing abroad is not a felony", referring to his eldest son’s international businesses and the trip he went on with him to Argentina, years after being Catalan President, to see his son’s business in Rosario. He also commented that as a father "he could warn them" if he saw something that he did not like about their professional activities, but could not do much more.
Pujol denies having illegally earned public money
Besides this, Pujol also stressed that he is "very calm" about his 23 years in government, as he is convinced that in general terms, things were done in the right way and that his governments’ actions were positive. In addition, he denied that any of the money he might have has come from corrupt practices. Furthermore, he added that he has no money abroad. Pujol was visibly annoyed by some questions and he criticised MPs for making assumptions and accusations based on rumours and without putting forward any proof.
Ferrusola affirms she did not manage funds in Andorra
Pujol’s wife, Marta Ferrusola, aged 80, spoke for a few minutes after him. Despite it having been said a few hours early that she would not answer questions, Ferrusola did answer some. She criticised the MPs for the questions posed and the tone, saying she felt "sorry" and that "Catalonia does not deserve this". She also stressed that she did not go to Andorra to manage the funds there and denied going there regularly to transport money. In addition, she denied that her family was living in luxury and even said that her sons and daughters "do not have a penny", although she later qualified this, saying she was not exclusively referring to money.

Re: Metodo 3 boss Francisco Marco has been giving evidence to the Catalonia Commssion on FRAUD and CORRUPTION
It's interesting, the connections that have come to light, in the examination of this case.
Why did BK really get involved? For him to assign Metodo 3, implies he must have known the abduction was a sham - and further it implies that Metodo3 would be useful for reasons other than locating Madeleine. Was it for reasons relating to finance. Why did BK eventually withdraw...

Metodo 3 Brian Kennedy
I wonder if the phone is busy in Edwards office or Carter Ruck making applications for court orders on behalf of close personal friend of Gerry and Kate or he cannot hear you through the products he used to sell?
How come no one mentions the fragrant Justine Mc Guinness after being the PR in the famous video of Gerry's strop, did she know Clarence?
DCI Nichola Wall still working at Operation Grange or has she fell in the gunge tank that SIO and DCI Campbell,Redwood left for her to clean up, not going to look good on the CV if you fail the test Nichola, Abduction, Remit Abduction?

Re: Metodo 3 boss Francisco Marco has been giving evidence to the Catalonia Commssion on FRAUD and CORRUPTION
But surely acting corruptly or incompetently is the guaranteed way to rise further towards the top in the police these days?willowthewisp wrote:I wonder if the phone is busy in Edwards office or Carter Ruck making applications for court orders on behalf of close personal friend of Gerry and Kate or he cannot hear you through the products he used to sell?

Especially if the interests of those who run the state are involved.
Look no further than Hamish Campbell's work as the Investigating Officer on the Jill Dando murder.
After bungling that - either incompetently or deliberately - where did he end up?
Why, being promoted to Detective Chief Superintendent, being tasked with overseeing Operation Grange as DCI Andy Redwood's boss, and actually being handed the job of writing the remit for the Madeleine McCann review and investigation: 'To investigate the abduction...'
You don't get much higher up than that!

Re: Metodo 3 boss Francisco Marco has been giving evidence to the Catalonia Commssion on FRAUD and CORRUPTION
Speaking of 'promotion', does anyone know if Judge, Maria de Melo e Castro, has been 'promoted' after her rather 'favourable' judgement, for the McCann's.?
Does anyone know if Judge Maria de Melo e Castro, is STILL 'on the circuit'?
IF the 'appeal' by GA's lawyer is 'heard' by another 'judge', what will that tell us?
Was Judge Maria de Melo e Castro's 'home' really 'burgled'?
a 'reason' given why she 'cancelled', suddenly, an afternoon 'session' (day 2?) of McCann vs Amaral libel case?
If really 'burgled', i wonder WHAT was 'taken'

Re: Metodo 3 boss Francisco Marco has been giving evidence to the Catalonia Commssion on FRAUD and CORRUPTION
What puzzles me more is how Brian Kennedy got in touch with this agency, to do so he'd have needed to have information form a third party I would think. I'd be very surprised if he just fished them out of the phonebook.
So who might have recommended them?
It also seems that Metodo followed instructions from TM as to where they should direct the search - Morocco (see M is for Morocco) . There is also a statement somewhere from Metodo (One I'm inclined to believe) that they never received the 500.000 pounds for their work for the McCanns.
So a lot of questions - Who, how much, why Morocco?

As is public knowledge via press reports (and via 'The Rooster' on this very forum), Brian Kennedy spends half the year at his villa in Spain, which is either in or very near Barcelona.tigger wrote:What puzzles me more is how Brian Kennedy got in touch with this agency, to do so he'd have needed to have information from a third party I would think. Which is where the corrupt detective agency Metodo 3 is based.
I expect he and Francisco 'Maddie-will-be-home-by-Christmas' Marco Francisco are old mates.
They probably meet for a natter now and then to talk about all sorts of things...and probably go back a long way

I see. I thought he had a villa on Mallorca - that is quite a long way from Barcelona. In fact I'd wondered about the 2005 holiday the McCanns had there with the Paynes - that was not a MW holiday but a rented villa.Tony Bennett wrote:As is public knowledge via press reports (and via 'The Rooster' on this very forum), Brian Kennedy spends half the year at his villa in Spain, which is either in or very near Barcelona.tigger wrote:What puzzles me more is how Brian Kennedy got in touch with this agency, to do so he'd have needed to have information from a third party I would think.
