"Jail threat for internet trolls?" Kate Smurthwaite,Jim Gamble & Katie Hopkins discuss,
INTERNET trolls who subject victims to vile abuse online are to be jailed for up to two years under a Government crackdown.
The move comes on the back of disgusting rape threats made against Chloe Madeley because her mum Judy Finnigan had made controversial remarks about convicted rapist footballer Ched Evans.
Chloe has welcomed this decision by Justice Secretary Chris Grayling and said some of the sickening comments made against her amounted to "online terrorism".

Leyland Law or Madely law? PUCNCH AND JUDY
Chloe or Brenda Law?
If such a law is ever passed it should be called BRENDA' s Or LEYLAND LAW -
since Brenda Leyland was the first to be A] threatened but media and
B]Died by the Media
I feel utterly sickened that The Madly family/AKA PRO McCanns are cashing in on Brenda Leyland's death and Topping Brendas death by using their child...
Just shows how low jurnos will stoop

There is no comparison between someone singling out a person bacause of a tv programme/article and issuing rape threats, to someone who has spent time researching a well known and publicised case, and speaking their opinion on the case and entering debate on said case. The two examples here are miles apart...unfortunately many of those who only listen to what is fed by the media will be uttering Brendas name in the same breath as those that issue those kind of threats, because of the medias tireless attempts to clump all into one catergory of 'trolls' (not that we didnt see that coming)...

Re: "Jail threat for internet trolls?" Kate Smurthwaite,Jim Gamble & Katie Hopkins discuss,
I found Stephen's choice of words very interesting. This is a man who doesn't shy away from the most controversial subjects. He has made several programs about issues with the current abortion laws in Northern Ireland which generated some very heated debates. And yet he will absolutely not go anywhere near the subject of the McCanns anymore.
I think his last program that mentioned the case was his Clarence Mitchell interview? That was a good interview and even back then, Mitchell stated he wanted defamation laws to be tightened up. Stephen said you can't control the internet ... and look what happened.
I didn't know Brenda but her death had a profound effect on me. I don't know how the people who hounded her can sleep at night.
I'm so thankful I live in a country where we still have free speech. There is no real free speech in the UK and it's only going to get worse.

Which makes me wonder if this whole case wasn't some type of catalyst for that??? Look at all the players involved in it.Zelina wrote:I found Stephen's choice of words very interesting. I refuse to be intimidated by these threats of imprisonment for expressing my opinion on public matters. Telling the truth as I see it is worth going to prison for. I refuse to be silenced when I see a blatant injustice. These people only have the power over you that YOU allow them to have. Stand tall, fear no foe and tell our despotic "leaders", Bring it on!. We all know they will not stop at jailing people who are threatening sickening acts of violence, anybody that doesn't agree with our glorious overlords will be whisked away in the middle of the night and placed in a gulag.

Katie Hopkins is determined to start the New Year by dominating front page news......with her silly remarks. She is being very immature now thinking it's cool to be loud and crude.
Twitter is not the platform for uncensored private opinions.
She is unlikely to be charged for a criminal offence, and will probably end up with a slap on the wrist - that's all.

She came second in the Big Brother House apparently, so she hasn't done too badly (money) for being a loud mouth it seems.
Wont surprise me one bit if she gets even more "outrageous" now that she knows she is liked.

TWO police 'forces' were given 'access' to 'THE 'TROLL' DOSSIER' given to OG on the 9th September 2014, BY 'the McCann family' (BHH)
FIVE (5) MONTHS ago!
Leicestershire Police and Met Police (OG)
Could somebody enlighten me as to how MANY 'named' 'trolls', in the 'dossier' have ACTUALLY been prosecuted and charged with ANY 'offence' arising from the two police forces investigation into the 'dossier'?
Gotta be at least ONE 'troll', surely?
Anyone know?

Re: "Jail threat for internet trolls?" Kate Smurthwaite,Jim Gamble & Katie Hopkins discuss,
I'm actually quite a fan of Katie Hopkins inasmuch as she is prepared to take flak for what she says. She is a champion for personal responsibility and that is often lacking in todays world.
The whole issue of freedom of speech is a very murky area however. The recent Charlie Hebdo incident, when a deliberate satirical/offensive stance was taken led to an atrocious killing spree. The public were shocked and something approaching 50 heads of state gathered in support along with approx. 7 million people on the streets.
Nick Clegg on LBC the following week said "no-one has the right NOT to be offended" and he was clearly championing the expression of views that may cause offence. So there you have it, World Leaders marching as one to defend OUR inalienable right to freedom of speech in a world that pretends it is democratic.
"HURRAH" said we "About bloody time" and we all felt a little better that freedom of speech was being so fiercely defended.
And then I woke up and realised it was all a dream. In a moment of clarity, it suddenly struck me what an enormous, stinky lie we were being told. I realised that if I was a cartoonist and printed off a ream or two of cartoon depicting Mohammed snogging the face off of someone who'd been shot by a terrorist, and wandered around Tower Hamlets or Bradford, I'd be in cuffs and safely ensconced in the local nick before I could shout Je Suis Charlie. I would then most likely be branded as stirring racial hatred and spend a stretch in Her Majesty's prison system.
So just HOW are they going to decide what constitutes "trolling" and "vile abuse" against our supposed rights to offend each other as we see fit? Will it have to be proven that a direct threat of harm or death is made? Or will merely causing some imagined offence be grounds for legal action? Unless the specific boundaries are enshrined in statute, it'll fall on a whim of whomever receives the complaint, surely?
Some of those who proclaim to be trolled or abused online are themselves often guilty of very nasty behaviour. And if one wishes to garner daily attention on the WWW, do they expect to do so with impunity, regardless of how annoying or inflammatory people find their outpourings? Young ladies who post endless selfies of themselves in nothing more than their undies crave attention and reaction, but only on their own terms so it seems. And those who blog and criticise others regularly, casting aspertions around like cheap confetti, often explode into a histrionic mess when they get a dose of their own medicine in return.
So when it comes to the crunch, just WHO is going to decide what we can say and to whom and on what terms?

Katie has been reported to the police again by an MP.

Nothing will come of it (again) imo. I hope this MP is voted out and we never hear of him and his selfie loving wife again in public life. How do these people get to become MPs?

Ms Hopkins sent the tweets after Mr Danczuk attended the raising of a Pakistani flag over the town hall for half an hour on March 23 to mark Pakistan's National Day.

The police must be getting fed up with people reporting Hopkins for saying things they dont want to hear. Tough.

A bit of a generalisation but... the chances are, these are the same people bellyaching 'nasty people with a different view' to the police are the same ones bellyaching about the police not looking into real crime properly.
'Dear PC Copper please investigate and arrest this person because they don't have the same dogmatic socialist view as me. And by the way why haven't you been 'round my neighbour's house yet as it's been 24 hour since she was burgled'.
