Maddy cops £22K bill for 196 jet trips

EXPENSES
A british police force took 196 flights to Portugal costing £22,000 in the first year of the search for Madeleine McCann.
And it ran up 709 days supporting her parents, Gerry and Kate, and helping Portuguese cops.
Flights to Portugal by Leicestershire Constabulary from May 2007 to July 2008 cost £22,055.
The force said: "Officers used budget airlines."
Madeleine, from Rothley, vanished from Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007, aged three. Revealed under the Freedom of Information Act, the total cost of the first year of the probe to the force was £500,000, most of which will be met by the Home Office.

That is staggering, but it doesn't surpass the amount of money wasted on private detectives and the McCann version of searching and raising awareness I'll bet.

Wonder if this happened before or after they were told she was probably dead. Thought it was right at the beginning one of the police came in wearing a wristband then his fellow officers showed him the files and he removed it. If so, how unethical and freeloading to carry on doing this.

Does anybody think we might hear something from Clarence, admonishing all these people who profit from Madeleine's disappearance?

It is disgusting, that money could have been spent on genuinely looking for missing children.
