I think I mostly agree with this too. Without any broader context or extra information, it is not really possible to be sure of anything with this photo even though it does seem a bit odd. We don't even know who took it. Was it even taken by the McCanns? Was it a genuine photo or retouched and to what extent? Were there any others taken at the same time? and many other mysteries...

I'm curious about what other photos are you referring to that you found inappropiate?

The pool photo and Lolita/Make Up photo were taken on Sunday, 29. April, 2007 (She had the same hairclip and it was the only sunny day).

Even if it is the same hairclip (which is not really clear - to me anyway) that doesn't mean they were necessarily taken at the same time or even the same day, surely? There are many other possibilities.
Why jump to conclusions?

Those are 2 two of the photo's I referred to but there is another.
Also there is no proof that the pool photo and the makeup photo were taken on the same day

There is another photo, with the same make-up, showing Madeline apparently lying on the floor, with one shoulder next to a skirting board. That may ring a bell for somebody?

I think this is the photo you are referring to Crusader. No blue makeup and a younger MM imo.

Yes, thanks Doug D. I misremembered the make up. I think she does look younger and I still think it's an awful photo.

I'm old, and have seen thousands of photos of children, taken by their adoring relatives, but none such as those ^^.
