Cant they leave anyone alone? Surely students should be enjoying their holiday, not spending it looking for their daughter and why do they want their details?

We
are launching a new initiative for students to help us in our search
for Madeleine. To increase our chances of finding Madeleine, it is vital
that we maintain awareness of her in as many places as possible
worldwide. 1 in 6 children are found and returned to their families,
simply because a member of the general public has recognised them after
seeing their face on a poster!
We know that many students travel over the summer, often to
places off the beaten path. Others may decide to take a ‘gap-year’
before continuing on to university.
If you are a student and would be willing to help with this
initiative, we would be very grateful if you would fill-out the form
below. Our ‘Students for Madeleine’ Program Manager will then make
contact with you to suggest ways in which you can help.

The police should be looking at this what gives the mcscams the right to ask for all that personal info

I dont think they are looking for donations in money (though they wouldn't refuse them!) - they want students to 'look for maddie' while they are away on their summer jaunts. Its all about keeping up the impression of looking - doing something - and maybe its a way to launder the money flooding in from the book - they can say it was spent on the student campaign - even though I doubt if the students will see a penny (unless related to McCanns).

Well, i think this is so wrong of them

I would like to know what their agenda is regarding asking for personal information from students.

I meanm why dont they just post how students can help on their web page?

Students??? What age are we talking about here. I wouldnt want anyone i know giving personal information to them.
I wouldnt want anyone i know of a student age to spend their holiday time looking for their daughter.....i know that may sound selfish.

I dunno, something doesnt sit right here for me

I don't know if students today are as rebellious as some of them were in the 1960s and 1970s but I hope that they still have the same healthy suspicion of the Establishment and adults in general that they had back then. If so, this appeal for their assistance will be treated with the contempt that it deserves.

Maybe some journalism students would apply for this unpaid summer work - find madeleine and you have a scoop and possibly a job on finishing college. And find the evil people behind her disappearance (clue; some people think doctors could be involved...)

A student I know completed the online form on Tuesday afternoon requesting help from Students.

Over 3 days later she hasn't even received an acknowledgment.

The McCanns need money to 'look for Madeleine.' Surely the Fund has the resources to employ someone to respond to students?

Is this 'Students for Madeleine Campaign' for real or just more spin - pretending to be doing something about looking for Madeleine?

Yes Pauline it will be interesting to see if your acquaintance hears anything or whether this is just another scam like the phone line where no action was taken on calls with possible information.
