Kate McCann to lay presents in Maddie’s bedroom tomorrow in heartbreaking tribute to missing daughter on her 15th birthday
She will place them, along with cards and messages of support, in Maddie's pretty pink bedroom at home in Rotheley which remains unchanged
By Tracey Kandohla
KATE McCann will lay presents in daughter Madeleine's bedroom to mark her 15th birthday tomorrow and hopes one day she will be back to open them.
The brave mum, who says “hope and perseverance remain”, has been carefully choosing gifts to reflect the teen's age.
She will place them, along with cards and messages of support, in Maddie's pretty pink bedroom which remains unchanged since she vanished during a family holiday in Portugal 11 years ago.
Maddie’s great uncle Brian Kennedy said: “It would be lovely to have a celebration one day. We never lose hope.”
Kate, 50, previously said: “I do all the present buying. I think about what age she is and buy something that, whenever we find her, will still be appropriate so there’s a lot of thought goes into it.”
She referred to the birthday of her eldest child as a "difficult time because that’s when you really feel her absence.”
The ex GP and eminent heart doctor husband Gerry, 49, will also pray for their daughter's safe return during a low key family “party” at home, along with 13-year-old twins Sean and Amelie.
A family pal said: “They’re having a get together with a few friends and family to remember Madeleine on her birthday.
"It’s a poignant time for the family coming just days after the 11th anniversary but they remain hopeful and vow to never to give up the search.”
During the outdoor service in their home village of Rotheley, Leics, Kate read a poem called The Contradiction to remember Maddie with haunting words: “I trace your steps, I map your face. You’re all I know and so unknown. I cannot hold you, yet I do.”
Kate, who is now a part time medical worker, still spends precious moments each day in Maddie’s bedroom which she reveals has “shocking pink walls and stars on the ceiling” and where her dolls and teddies are on display, along with an ever growing number of presents.
She told the BBC: “Everything’s the same and there are photographs all around the house. Whether it be a birthday, family occasion or even an achievement that is when you really feel her absence.”
She also told in her mind’s eye how she jumps from seeing her eldest child as she was when she was kidnapped to envisaging her as she would be now.
Maddie was kidnapped after being left sleeping alone with her twin siblings at their holiday apartment in the Algarve’s Praia da Luz.
At the time her parents were dining with pals at a nearby resort tapas restaurant.
She was discovered missing from her bed in the rented flat by her horrified mum shortly after 10pm.
Detectives believe she was stolen by child traffickers, sex fiends or during a burglary gone wrong.
Scotland Yard are still chasing “a final line of inquiry” and have been given extra £154,000 funding to keep their Operation Grange investigation going until the end of September.

I've noticed the word, " kidnapped" creeping into these ridiculous articles.
ETA, maybe not ridiculous, on reflection, as we understand the games being played.
RIP, Madeleine.

Oh Tracey, you're supposed to live there, but can't even spell your hometown correctly!
As for the 'photos all round the house', obviously not the hundreds of photos of Madeleine they didn't take on holiday

Yes, that is VERY deliberate. Manipulation of the gullible to promote mass misconception. A simple, obvious deception.

Oh, I don't know though..
I couldn’t make love
to Gerry
Our sex life is not something I would normally be inclined to share and yet it
is such an integral part of most marriages that it doesn’t feel right not to
acknowledge this.
I’m sure other couples who have been through traumatic experiences will have
suffered similarly and perhaps it will reassure them to know that they are
not alone.
To those fortunate enough not to have encountered such heartache, I hope it
gives an insight into just how deep the wounds go.
Apart from our general state of shock and distress, and the fact that I
couldn’t concentrate on anything but Madeleine, there were two continuing
reasons for this, I believe.
The first was my inability to permit myself any pleasure, whether it was
reading a book or making love with my husband.
The second stemmed from the revulsion stirred up by my fear that Madeleine had
suffered the worst fate we could imagine: falling into the hands of a
paedophile.
Tortured as I was by these nauseating images, it’s probably not surprising
that even the thought of sex repulsed me.
I worried about Gerry and me. I worried that if I couldn’t get our sex life
back on track our whole relationship would break down.
I know there is more to a relationship than sex, but it is still an important
element.
It was vital that we stayed together and stayed strong for our family. Gerry
was incredibly understanding and supportive.
He never made me feel guilty, he never pushed me and he never got sulky. In
fact, sometimes he would apologise to me. Invariably, he would put a big,
reassuring arm around me and tell me that he loved me and not to worry.
I was determined not to be beaten by this, not simply to capitulate and accept
it as just one of the unfortunate side-effects of this tragedy.
Gerry and I talked about it a little, but mostly I analysed the problem
privately in my head.
I also discussed it with psychologist Alan Pike who assured me that, like my
ability to relax or enjoy a meal, it would gradually return.
Deep down, though, I knew there were only two solutions: bringing Madeleine
back or conquering my mental block.

Alan Pike
Clinical Partner
Alan spends a ’normal’ week travelling all over the UK, he has travelled the world in his last 12 years at CCP supporting individuals who have experienced severe trauma. Alan has worked on many high profile cases including the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Previously Alan worked as a social worker in child protection for 14 years and became a partner at CCP in 2005.
In his spare time, you can usually find Alan rocking out at a gig or at his annual ‘unmissable’ visit to Glastonbury with his wife Jayne and his two children. He also enjoys cycling, snowboarding, supporting/shouting at Everton or playing squash for the City of Manchester.

The article is incoherent - no parent would still have hope if they believed their daughter had been 'kidnapped by sex fiends' or traffickers. It just makes KM look unhinged and The Sun must know it. The poem, the pink walls, the presents all symptomatic of magical thinking at best or the most warped deception ever at worst...

Re: MADDIE TRIBUTE Kate McCann to lay presents in Maddie’s bedroom tomorrow in heartbreaking tribute to missing daughter on her 15th birthday
According to Kate, she has been doing this since Madeleines' 4th birthday. If there is any truth in this (which I doubt very much), even if Madeleine was home tomorrow, the 15 year old would be coming home to gifts suitable for a child aged 4, 5, 6 etc.
Wouldn't common sense tell Kate to put the money aside each year and treat her when she got home?
Or even better, put the money towards the search for her.
It's all media hype of course, otherwise it doesn't make at sense at all.

It's experiencing snippets like this, that have stopped me reading that book from start to finish.
There is nothing in that paragraph that would remotely fall from the parent of an abducted child's lips.
Nothing there I can relate to, hard as I try to put myself in that position.
I'm guessing by the time the book was finished, that she had not let it beat her. I mean, she did say 'Was'. Either that or she just gave up her determination.
I just cannot get my head round, why you would write such a book which exposes your private thoughts. Especially from somebody we are led to believe is very uncomfortable with any limelight.
She also wrote the 'unthinkable' piece about parts of her daughter's anatomy. That is so alarming, it's almost as if it isn't really in the book. Only it really is.
If it's that unthinkable, don't think it. Most certainly don't write it!

Tracey must be spitting dummies. She’s missed out on a byline for this latest ‘Exclusive’ (?) drivel in The Sun today:
MADDIE TENNIS TWIST
Gerry McCann played tennis with ‘Tannerman’ on the day Madeleine went missing
Jane Tanner told police she saw a man carrying a child in pyjamas near the McCanns’ apartment on the night Maddie went missing - but she did not recognise him as Dr Totman
EXCLUSIVE
By Mike Sullivan, Crime Editor
13th May 2018, 12:54 am
THE dad of Madeleine McCann played tennis with a man wrongly identified as her abductor on the day she went missing.
Witness Jane Tanner spent up to half an hour watching Gerry McCann and Dr Julian Totman, 46, play on May 3, 2007.
Artist's sketch of 'Tannerman' who was later identified as Dr. Julian Totman
Less than three hours later, she saw a man carrying a child in pyjamas near the McCanns’ apartment in Praia da Luz.
But she did not recognise Dr Totman and cops pursued the lead for four years, despite the GP saying it was probably him.
But retired Met detective Ian Horrocks still believes Ms Tanner saw the abductor.
He said: “It would appear that Julian Totman was known by sight to Jane Tanner.
"Therefore, is it credible that she would not have recognised him?”
The startling revelation comes a day after what would have been Madeleine's 15th birthday.
Kate McCann was reported to have left presents in the missing girl's bedroom on the eve of her birthday in the hope that she would be back to open them one day.
The brave mum, who says “hope and perseverance remain”, has been carefully choosing gifts to reflect the teen's age.
She placed them, along with cards and messages of support, in Maddie's pretty pink bedroom which remains unchanged since she vanished during a family holiday in Portugal 11 years ago.

Maybe Kate's been buying her make up all these years as she apparently had a love of dressing up and putting on make up from the age of around three.
