"On 9th May 2007 at 06.00 a police officer from Aljezur found (at the back of Maddie’s parents bedroom) an elastic hair band dropped on the floor".

I am thinking now that whatever caused Maddie's demise makes little difference. The parents' big problem was, and still is, why did the body have to disappear. What evidence was on her, or done to her, for such a big controversy to be needed. joyce1938

Well, it would depend if it was an accident or not.

It might mean if she had post mortem what was there to be found. Why would they not present the body, why did it need to disappear? Something stinks and sadly we may never know. joyce1938
