So the McCanns have written to the Home Secretary again. And David Cameron is going to take a personal interest.

After the Kate McCann's soul-bearing in her book 'Madeleine', what next from the campaign to find her daughter?

I'm told that while Home Secretary Theresa May continues to waver over calls for a joint UK-Portugal review of all evidence, her boss David Cameron may shake things up.

A study last year, by former Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre chief Jim Gamble, backed such a review.

He's supported, I'm told, by the Association Of Chief Police Officers, but Mrs May is still not convinced.

She, presumably, has the proverbial heart-of-stone that's not been moved by the excruciating tales of woe, anger and frustration that have emerged in the newspaper serialisation of Mrs McCann's book, especially the bits about Portuguese police inactivity.

The McCanns have written again to the Home Secretary asking for her help, but when they met her some months ago she told them she hadn't even read Mr Gamble's document.

Stand by for Cameron to take a personal interest.

And why not, at a time when his government is poised to bail out debt-riddled Portugal with a £4bn hand-out?

There have already been high-level discussions between the Foreign Office and Portuguese officials to find a way of conducting such a review.

One plan is for a team of UK detectives - probably from Scotland Yard - to got to Portugal and pore over the police files.

One crucial exercise would be to do the mobile phone cell-site analysis that wasn't done.

And follow up reports of previous intruders into the holiday homes of other Brits, as recorded by Kate in her book.

Question: Why do the McCanns write to the Home Secretary to ask for help instead of the Prosecutor in Portugal?

Answer: UK stamp is cheaper than a stamp to Portugal.

Martin Brunt - Sky TV, The Times and the Sun... I can´t believe a word they say, mind you come to that... the Independant, the Telegraph, the Mirror, the Mail, the People all competing for the "Absolutely Appalling Journalism Award 2011." You dupe your viewers and readership for the sake of a quick buck. Your reporting of fiction versus fact earns you all a place in the book of liars. I hope in the event that there is a reversal of reporting fortunes you hold you heads in shame. I say... shame on you boy!

More than very interesting.

One of Cameron's men has spoken to Brunt and this is a way of flying a kite to see what the reaction is.

Rupert Murdoch pays Brunt's wages. Cameron only got elected through a cosy deal with Murdoch on his Mediterranean yacht. Brunt would not have made the comments above that I've highlighted in red unless one of Camaron's men had given him some assurances.

Time to get even more names on the petition for a FULL PUBLIC ENQUIRY into the whole Madeleine McCann affair.
