Thanks for the info PeterMac about the Boyd article. I hadn't seen this before and the article has always puzzled me. So it's just a case of a "journalist" (using the word loosely) being more economical with the truth than usual.

Could you tell us what is the description you are referring to?
Do you have a photo to share or can you copy the text for us?

Bernt describes it as a 'giraffe' with an evil goat head.

Or a rocking horse? Either way, it's not attractive. If it has been there since Bernt set up his cameras, I'm surprised it hasn't collapsed. If it was made after he started filming, he has images of the people who did it.

From the notes I'm seeing on the Kindle version search, (not from memory now), he captured the Nuggets and Gerry carrying a small dog (at different times) at this spot. The dog turned out to be the Nugget's dog that he saw when he was in the cafe.

Help me out here BlueBag  big grin

From Bernt just now:

It's a dead tree likely from lightning, it is strong but placed upside down intentionally... Evidently, as it has this "on the look out" , an imaginary protector. Nothing sacrificial, just imagination and romanticizing it's purpose and the area.

We know there is an obelisk on the cliffs above PdL. They are also important symbols for freemasons and stand for eternity and immortality. So the body could be in this area.

But this one is for geo-positioning.

Used by surveyors.

It's legit.

I don't say that the body is near the obelisk, but could be in the cliff area.

Depends what's more important to them, being a freemason or a catholic.
They would have been looking for a hiding place that could possibly never be found and up to now hasn't been.

I wonder if GM has links to an organisation like the Ancient Order of Hibernians, or a similar one
The AOH is an Irish Catholic organisation, Members must be Catholic and either Irish born or of Irish descent
In his Sister Patricia’s statement she makes a point of mentioning something about Gerry’s roots being important to him I doubt these roots were Scottish based with him being the only one of his Sibling’s being born there.

The geodesic landmark of Atalaia, high above Luz, was built in 1926. At 108 m (360 feet), the site offers sweeping views along the coast and marks the highest point on the Algarve coastline. The trig point was used back in the day for surveying purposes but is now used by hikers for navigation. It is one of Portugal's +/- 9,000 geodetic landmarks. Geodetic markers are signals that indicate an exact cartographic position and form part of a triangulation network with other geodesic markers. Usually, they are installed in high and isolated places with a clear line of sight to other vertices. Although locals call it "the Monument", it has no historic meaning. Another such marker is the Torre de Aspa on the Costa Vicentina coast, about 5Km from Vila do Bispo, with a nice 360º view.

Thank you. There's a small one not far from where I live; it's in a field and I thought it was some sort of marker for the R.A.F.

It could be something locals, or holiday makers built; they saw the shape of the branches and made a giraffe/rocking horse. It's not necessarily a part of Madeleine's burial place.

The giraffe is right next to Spot 2 which Bernt believes could be Maddie's grave.

Mrs Nugget was captured on film right by the giraffe and then bending down at Spot 2.

Bernt could also hear on the film that Mrs Nugget was doing something to the 'grave', possibly rearranging stones that had been disturbed by animals.

What's very difficult to ever know, is when did Mitchell know all wasn't well with the McCanns' story. Right from the word go, or was it that far down the line that he was in it up to his neck?

Who orchestrated the McCs magical mystery tour of the European Countries?  taking in Countries that use the Algarve for tourism with addiction of Morocco IMO to make it look like it was a trip designed to search for Madeleine,
What was the real purpose of these trips?
There were appeals made at various press conferences in these countries for vacationers to upload any photographs of their vacation in the Western Algarve in the two weeks up to the 3rd May
What happened to any photo’s uploaded especially any that were signicant to the agency(s) requiring them, as they were uploaded I’m sure these agencies would be able to trace any significant photo’s source, would they have been contacted directly to hand over all significant photo’s and at the same time silenced in some way? I reckon if there was any signicant photo’s retrieved they deffo would not have been handed over to the Portuguese authorities
Who along with the McC’s could possibly be getting protected
The tour could possibly have been used as the perfect distraction for what the McC’s were potentially up to in the little time they spent in PDL in this time frame
Could something similar to all of the above have been the mastermind behind GM’s visit to London Town?
The sick person on the plane, the trials and tribulations of the story of the stolen wallet etc all engineered for us to focus on than what potentially else could have been happening

One things is for sure the magazine article the release of the so called last photo, the magical mystery tour is in the time frame of the appearance of the Mitchell and his ludicrous dulcet tones!  Who did he really work for back then  and who else was potentially being protected?
