A former teacher who claims she spotted missing Madeleine McCann at an Algarve supermarket in 2017 says she also remembers seeing suspect Christian Brueckner’s distinctive VW camper van nearby.

The German-speaking Portuguese woman, known only as Maria, went to police recently to tell them a girl she was “sure” was Maddie - because of the unique blemish in her right eye - had been beside her at Apolonia Supermarket in Gale near Albufeira.

She went public with her sighting on Friday night on an investigative TV programme called Sexta as 9, which was shown by Portuguese state broadcaster RTP.

As well as telling reporter and presenter Sandra Felgueiras she was “certain” she had seen the missing Brit youngster talking to another girl in German before they vanished, she said she remembered seeing the VW camper van which featured in a police appeal about the German paedophile Brueckner's vehicles.

I was really surprised at Sandra in the ITV fairytale. Ages ago I’d  seen her interview the McCanns regarding the dogs. At that point she seemed to be suspicious of them but she seems to have done a complete about turn.

It seems clear to me that she has a grudge against Goncalo Amaral, which has bled out into the whole case. It is screamed out loud on the Netflix debacle. Whether that was through naive assumptions on her part or what, only she knows. 

Whatever the case she's a nice scalp for the media coverup to put front and centre.

PROSECUTORS investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have an “ace up their sleeve” according to a top criminologist.

Christian B, 43, was identified last month as being the prime suspect in her abduction.

Now German criminologist and profiler Mark T Hofman said: “In my view, there is no doubt he was at the scene.

“Mobile phone data proves he was by the apartments. Also, his record fits the profile.

“I’m sure the prosecutor will pull an ace from up his sleeve and have more than we know so far.”

Christian B is serving 21 months in a German prison for drugs offences.

Madeleine vanished from Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007 aged three.

What profile?

Madeleine McCann mysteriously vanished off the face of the earth sometime between Saturday 28th April and Friday 4th May 2007. The official investigation concluded that abduction was a hoax and the parents were involved. Specialist dogs seconded from the UK with their trainer/handler alerted to blood and death on items belonging to the McCanns, the car hired by them and property occupied by them - alone!

The official investigation concluded beyond a shadow of doubt that Madeleine McCann was not abducted and her parents were named prime suspects in her disappearance.

That's where it begins and ends .... nothing changes.

You can introduced anything you like to add confusion and sway public opinion but without evidence to substantiate allegations, you're buggered.

Sandra Felgueiras is a TV presenter and journalist.  Don't big her up, she's perfectly capable of doing that for herself.

Journalists have no morals, no scruples - no soul.  They are ruthless thugs out to get what they want, it matters not who they trample down in the process.

Career advancement and money are always foremost in the mind of a seasoned journalist.

Sandra Felgueiras is now getting the attention she yearns.  She sold her soul to the devil for want of a farthing - she will survive, they always do.

With the McCann case she got her foot in the door of international journalism, like so many others that went before and appeared later, she is selling herself on the back of a little lost three year old child.

Never trust the media or their henchmen.

It's disgusting that she's discrediting the PJ and Gonçalo...she must be aware of what GA, his wife and children have already been through for the 'crime' of doing his job in trying to find the truth of what really happened to a little child whose body was concealed by her own parents.

She discredits no one but herself.

Her seemingly inexplicable 180º turn and her blatant lies about the PJ in the Netflix documentary expose her as the fantasist she really is.

The claim that she made was that Gonçalo Amaral had been giving her information, during the 2007 investigation, and that he eventually lied to her about the FSS results, which she found out about in July 2008, when the files became public. And that's, allegedly, what made her favour the McCanns.

If that were true, she wouldn't have waited 11 years to tell the public about this supposed lie, and she certainly wouldn't have supported Gonçalo Amaral in the "Ask the Dogs, Sandra" interview in 2009.

Of course, certain people commend her for coming out to deliver this "shocking" information. 

Many have an agenda to fulfill; others just want to be spoon-fed the information, rather than analysing it themselves.

The same thing applies to this latest suspect diversion.

COPS leading the new probe into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann fear their chances of solving the case have “slipped away”.

Christian B was revealed as the main suspect in a dramatic joint announcement by German and British police at the start of June.

However, yesterday a source close to German investigators admitted “momentum had been lost” in the probe.

German prosecutors had boasted that Christian B was their man and they had "concrete evidence" Madeleine was dead.

“In an investigation of this kind the first few weeks after the suspect’s name is released are absolutely vital,” our source told The Sun Online.

“Detectives remain convinced Christian B was involved in Madeleine’s disappearance but they still need that crucial part of the jigsaw."

The suggestion that police are losing faith in the chances of arresting Christian B will devastate Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry.

However, faith remains in the investigation as German criminologist and profiler Mark T Hofman said he believes prosecutors have an "ace up their sleeves".

Our source added: “The truth is, after a promising first few weeks where a lot of leads and information came in, tips have dried up.

“In recent days, for the first time since this investigation was publicised, those involved have been asking if their chance of nailing B has slipped away.

“The hope that he may also say something that incriminated himself from behind bars has also proved to be wishful thinking. He’s not said anything to a soul.”

Our source said Portuguese detectives, who have repeatedly clashed with their German counterparts, were privately “relieved”.

“The Portuguse officers have made it clear from the start they didn’t believe Christian B was involved,” he added.

“He was on the radar at the time and ruled out quickly.

"It would have been deeply embarrassing had it later turned out that Christian B was indeed the person who took Madeleine.”

Christian B, 43, is currently serving a 15-month sentence in his home country of Germany for drug offences.

The serial sex offender is also facing a separate sentence for the rape of a 72-year-old American woman on a waterfront villa less than a mile from where Madeleine went missing in Portugal in 2007.

Although he was convicted in December 2019, he appealed against his seven-year sentence and so it cannot be imposed until his appeal avenues are exhausted.

However, there remains hope that police may be able to bring a case against Christian B.

Mr Hofman said: "In my view, there is no doubt he was at the scene.

“Mobile phone data proves he was by the apartments. Also, his record fits the profile.

“I’m sure the prosecutor will pull an ace from up his sleeve and have more than we know so far.”

Hans Christian Wolters, the chief prosecutor in the case, has insisted that the Christian B is their man and they can place him at the scene.

However, no charges have yet been filed against Christian B, who has a record of sex offences and is now being linked to other missing children.

Madeleine is believed to have been snatched from the Ocean Club apartment where she was sleeping alongside her twin siblings Sean and Amelie on May 3, 2007, in Praia du Luz.

Described as a "twisted loner", the sex offender is understood to have been a kind of drifter around the resort at the time.

Christian B was first linked to the Madeleine case after he allegedly made a drunken boast he snatched her while in a bar on the tenth anniversary of the crime.

Madeleine would have turned 17 last month, and the family have described the identification of Christian B as "potentially very significant".

Give up the jigsaw puzzle , how about darts instead , a dart board with other " suspects " see which one you can hit next !

So the crucial jigsaw piece is missing then. No surprises there. After all, it can't be easy trying to find evidence to fit someone up with of a crime that didn't actually happen.
