Staff at the Ocean Club Hotel where Madeleine McCann vanished are on high alert for selfie-taking tourists
Resort staff told the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] they are preparing themselves for an onslaught of ghoulish visitors flocking to the site to take selfies ahead of the tenth anniversary tomorrow.
They are also on the lookout for snoopers at the tapas bar where [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] were enjoying a meal on the night their daughter vanished.
One local told the paper: “At least one sign is new. They have been stepping things up before an expected onslaught on the 10th anniversary.
"I’ve been in the Tapas area but the once and as soon as we went in somebody came out and shooed us out.
“What they do now is check everybody is a member – and they are on high alert.
"There will be people for the 10th anniversary, and they’re doing their best to make it the least intrusive they can.”
It comes as an ex-Portuguese cop slammed the £11 million inquiry into the disappearance.
Carlos Anjos, the former head of the Policia Judiciaria officers' union, has told Panorama that the British investigation has been a waste of money.
"This burglary theory is absurd. Not even a wallet disappeared, no television disappeared, nothing else disappeared. A child disappeared."
