Yes, we did get to know these 2 had withdrawn, but never knew why. Some questioned it at that time. joyce1938

Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Holidays and Stephen Winyard, owner of Stobo Castle, hotel & spa both donated money towards the McCanns legal costs (to clear their names) but nothing, as far as I know, to the find Madeleine Fund.

What is it with these holiday hotel owners?

They probably took legal costs out of the Fund when the high profile help accepted outside of the Fund dried up. At that stage they controlled the Fund due to some of the first directors resigning after a few months only, I suspect because they were suspicious about what was going on. Particularly for Esther, as an ambitious politician she would have egg on her face if it came out as a scam with her on the board. No transparency in the accounts and the money didn't go on searching it would appear!
