Re: BOOK ALREADY HALF PRICE ON AMAZON ! !
I've just read that bit again.
"Moments later a man is seen walking purposefully, carrying something in his arms. The something appears to be a small child, warm from its slumber, still in nightclothes.
A child will go missing this night, Thursday 3rd May 2007 . . . "
How much nonsense is it possible to put in two short sentences ?
Moments later a man is seen walking purposefully, carrying something in his arms. A bundle, perhaps ?
The something appears to be a small child Only later did it transmogify into a small child.
warm from its slumber Warm FROM its slumber - IN its slumber - or unconscious ?
still in nightclothes. The pink, then white, then pink pyjamas ?
A child will go missing this night, Or, in the interests of accuracy and truth "A child will be REPORTED MISSING this night.
A child will go missing this night, But NOT this one, since DCI Redwood has categorically stated and confirmed on the most prestigious TV Crime show that this was NOT Madeleine. So that sentence is totally irrelevant. It merely hindered the investigation for 5 years.
I can hardly wait for the rest !

Summers and Swann seem like absolute twerps.
Perhaps they should crawl back under the stone that they never bothered to turn over and investigate the Moon landings.I'm sure some publisher will pay them for their expertise on cosmic issues.

When's the book signing? they'll be queing round the block. Better make sure the book- shop doors are open early otherwise they'll be jemmying the shutters up in their haste to buy this book.

The reviews are not going to increase the sales
By Amelia Soares on 11 Sep 2014
What a load of tosh !!! Did the authors bother to read the portuguese police files on the case in depth? I bet not...they talked to...Kate and Gerry McCann instead!
"There are no significant inconsistencies in the statements of the McCanns and their friends"
WHAT???!!! Once again, READ THE FILES!
And, calling those who "dare" to doubt the Mccanns and friends version of events, "HATTERS" is inadmissable and unprofessional!
Sorry, but for me, this book has Clarence Mitchell's fingerprints all over
Inaccurate and disappointing
By Diane W on 11 Sep 2014
I waiting for the publication of this book with anticipation only to be sadly disappointed , this author to my mind has plucked random ideas out of the air with no evidence to substantiate them, I feel he decided the parents innocent of involvement prior to writing the book and set out to prove that ignoring well established facts about the case. Very poor
Disgusting and disgraceful

Wodehouse quoted a review of a book written by a friend:
'This book' - the critic wrote- ' should not be picked up lightly but hurled at the wall with great force'.
There's also the critic who said at the end of a review of a new play that to be fair, he'd seen it at a disadvantage as the curtain was up.

More like faked abduction fiction category, when the book is claimed as 'definitive account' of a non-fiction crime of the century.
At least you know what to expect of predictable Mills and Boon.

The big problem with books of this kinds, and newspapers,is that many people will accept their words as the truth merely because they see them in print.Something being in print doesn't make it true,it just means someone wrote it and someone else printed it. Sadly the majority just suck up the information they're fed, that's how propaganda works.

Just think how useful these writers are to the system .Build up a career with some supposedly good work and prizes for literature, then you have the people's confidence. When help is required from them by dubious people they then expect and think the masses will acknowledge their work as being the definitive article and trustworthy writers. Thankfully people are just not falling for it. Too strong a word the use of definitive if they think people are going to accept this as an unbiased piece of work.

They dont need to sell, the papers are doing the work, it is the papers who are getting their message out. They just needed that book to get it out there via the media imo. The media could not come up with this charade without the book.
Don't know if this has been mentioned before but people are asking if it was the publisher who had the book commissioned and Swan and Summer are just the channel, this seems possible imo.

Possibly Markus, but when they serialised Mrs' book many people did go out and buy or order on line.
I know people say that The Sun readers soak up all they read in the paper, but The Sun readers tend to be very street savvy, your average Joe and IMO your average Joe can be very sceptical.
Had to have a good laugh at September sales figures. Oh err, was it The Sun wot did it?
Edited to add - Is there any way of finding out how many zillion extra copies bought/web site hits the serialisation has brought to The Sun?

Re: BOOK ALREADY HALF PRICE ON AMAZON ! !
LOOKS LIKE THE 'PULITZER' PRIZE FINALIST WILL HAVE TO SEND HIS FOURTH WIFE OUT TO "DO A SAATCHI"! (OR PERHAPS HE COULD EMPLOY P GURNEY, if she can drag herself away from desperately 'fire-fighting' on his FB page, TO DO THE "DONKEY WORK")
Saatchi ordered Team Cupcake to buy HUNDREDS of copies of his book to get it on the bestseller list, Nigella's aide tells court
Elisabetta Grillo claimed Charles Saatchi sent her to buy his books
She said she was given £200 four times a week to buy copies
Grillo claimed other aides also bought numerous copies online:biggrin:
Drug allegations were only added to Grillo's statement in November
Charles Saatchi's book My Name Is Charles Saatchi And I Am An Artoholic was published in 2009
Charles Saatchi gave his domestic staff money to buy copies of his own books to push them up the bestseller charts, a court heard.
His team of five buyers were sent across London to buy the books from different bookshops, it was claimed.
One claimed she was sent out with £200 at a time, four times a week, to buy Mr Saatchi’s non-fiction works in a bid to boost their chart position.
It emerged as Lisa Grillo, 41, was pressed on why she drew out thousands of pounds on a credit card given to her by Miss Lawson, which Mr Saatchi paid for.
Grillo replied in broken English: ‘I took cash frequently to pay for the books for Charles.
‘Charles wrote a book and he want to make it high in the list – so I was going in the taxi and I took cash.
‘He give me £200 and want me to go to different stores like Waterstones.
‘Charles no like me to go with the card. I was always go with the cash – he doesn’t like to go with the card to buy his book.’
Grillo, who was in Nigella’s ‘Team Cupcake’ of aides along with her sister and three female personal assistants, went on: ‘He give me £200 and I go all afternoon with the taxi from East London to West London and buy books. It was my job for the day.
‘Four times a week I had to buy Mr Saatchi’s book.
‘I was by taxi, the other girls were buying the book on Amazon or other websites.’
When the prosecution suggested Grillo had made up the bulk-buying story, her barrister Anthony Metzer QC referred to her witness statement, completed months ago.
In it she claims she used cash given to her by the family ‘to pay for the purchase of literature written by Mr Saatchi to increase the sales figures of books authored by him’.

Even paying half price will be a disappointment.
Come on, Amaral's book isn't sold here we can't even know about the police files but can only read stuff that comes from the newspapers?
All we get is THAT book? After paying out £6000 a day!
That's no fair.
Shameful
Embarassing

Nobody's buying the book because there isn't a market for it. The public are fed up with the McCanns. The publishers got it wrong and will drop the project like a hot potatoe. If the authors have taken an advance I hope they haven't spent it as it will be clawed back quickly. Publishers are ruthless. It's only business after all.

Surprising. Is that coz the price dropped to £9 b4 you received it? I guess you need a hard copy for research purposes.
Amazon have good points and bad points. They refuse to sell a book coz they receive threats from lawyers but on the other hand the books are priced very competitively. I bought John Grisham's latest for only £3 something...quite a thick book, as well. DVDs are cheap. What puzzles me is that new items always seem cheaper than used ones...may be the way they are handled.

I have a copy of several of the books about the disappearance of Madeleine Beth McCann, because I have a professional interest in finding out what happened to her.
I do not HATE the McCanns, though I am highly suspicious of almost everything they say they did before she disappeared, and highly critical of almost everything they have done since she disappeared.
But that is not Hate. I do not know them well enough to Hate them.
So any book or commentary on the subject may just contain a clue or a hint, or even the truth, buried within it.
It is worthy of note that the McCanns have sought to ban three books.
One by TB, the second by Dr Amaral, the third by Pat Brown
From that we may conclude that something in each of those books causes them significant difficulties,
or in plain English - is the truth.

An excellent review which brings up the many flaws in this book. I don't intend to buy it but it would appear that there is nothing in this book that hasn't been looked at before and it is just another PR exercise to try to deflect blame of any kind from the McCanns. I will not be buying this book - if you want facts on the case that are not published by the mainstream media read the McCann files online - then make up your mind about whether or not you believe the parents story!
Bluesy says:
The most independent definitive account so far produced on the case of Madeleine McCann? The authors having spent months researching the case and interviewing people so what I ask, has the circumstances surrounding the child's disappearance got to do with the numerous websites that have evolved, attracting all manner of opposing viewpoints and sometimes wild theories? The "haters" inappropriately mentioned, have these people been directly involved with the child's disappearance or the investigation - I doubt it!
I certainly don't intend to buy this book, from extracts seen so far, it is nothing but a re-hash of the story concocted by the McCann's and their group of friends and suitably embellished by their media spokespersons and other very useful contacts. Much of it could have been taken almost verbatim from the mothers book, rather inappropriately titled 'madeleine'.
PM says:
The more I read and compare it to the Rogatory interviews the more I realise that it is actually a "dishonest' piece of work. They have copied and pasted chunks from the statements, and have then added "Jane was to recall". . . "Rachael Oldfield recalled". . . or "Russ O'Brien was to say,". . . or 'Rachael's husband Matt was to say later' . . .and similar phrases, clearly trying to give the impression that this was from a personal interview between the person concerned and an investigative journalist, who naturally would ask proper and hard questions. It wasn't. They haven't spoken to any of these people. The proper way to do this would have been to quote from the statement or Rogatory, make it clear that this was being done, and then to give a full reference to the original, which can be found on the mccannfiles or the mccannPJfiles blog sites. That is why I use the word 'dishonest'. It is pretending to be something it is not. Investigative journalism, for example, rather than "Churnalism" written to an agenda which becomes more clear by the minute

Investigative journalism, for example, rather than "Churnalism" written to an agenda which becomes more clear by the minute
In fact, I believe if the above "journalism" was handed in as a term paper at university, it would result in the student being reprimanded for plagiarism (not properly attributing quotes and suggesting that other peoples' work was their own) and possibly being expelled.
IMO, obviously.

Re: BOOK ALREADY HALF PRICE ON AMAZON ! !
canada12. I and many others have said it was a C & P book.
Did they interview anyone of significance? Did they uncover any new clues to the truth? Did they prove that the McCanns had nothing to do with Madeleine's disappearnce etc. ?

Re: BOOK ALREADY HALF PRICE ON AMAZON ! !
I have been reading VTEN's comments on Amazon, regarding S&S's book. I find this person's writing skills fascinating. Here is an extract taken from the link I've provided at the bottom of this post where Vten is talking about what happened when a child
in his holiday group went missing:
When that child disappeared, no one screamed... no one threw a tantrum... no one began immediately ringing the press in another country... no one rang the foreign office... no one even screamed for the police to come... no one shouted 'the f****** b******* have taken her', no one began pointing in random directions and claiming that some stranger must have spirited them away... Know why? Because in the moment of shock, disbelief kicks in. The brain, courtesy of the flow of adrenaline and other hormones, prompts the 'fight or flight' mode, which is universally acknowledged as utterly precluding calculations, elaborate reckonings, wild hypothesising, and theorising - all of which take time. Instead what is provoked is the most basic reaction of all... to look, personally, for YOUR child, as YOUR responsibility, in YOUR charge, as if YOU and YOU ALONE had the ONLY hope and duty of finding that child. It takes several moments of burning the adrenaline and diluting the other hormones and calming the heart rate before you're even capable of something more, something which does not come as a 'reaction' but as a 'realisation' (a process of rationality, not impulse) - that something is very wrong, cannot be solved imminently, has utterly escaped your control, and you need help
