We are aware that Netflix are planning to screen a documentary in March 2019 about Madeleine’s disappearance. The production company told us that they were making the documentary and asked us to participate.

We did not see – and still do not see – how this programme will help the search for Madeleine and, particularly given there is an active police investigation, it could potentially hinder it.

Consequently, our views and preferences are not reflected in the programme. We will not be making any further statements or giving interviews regarding this programme.

Since the recent police appeals regarding Madeleine’s disappearance there have been many inaccurate stories reported in the media. The widely reported news that we have a received a letter from the German authorities that states there is evidence or proof that Madeleine is dead is FALSE. Like many unsubstantiated stories in the media, this has caused unnecessary anxiety to friends and family and once again disrupted our lives.

As we have stated many times before, we will not give a running commentary on the investigation- that is the job of the law enforcement agencies and we will support them in any way requested. Furthermore, we do not have a family spokesperson nor are we actively paying any lawyers. Any recent comments attributed in the media have not come from us unless they have been posted on our website. If there are important developments that can be made public, they will be issued through official police channels.

Correction Madam .... the 'only' reason you and/or your husband returned to Portugal, after you fled at the beginning of September 2007 because you were made arguidos, was to persecute the former Portuguese police office - Snr Gonçalo Amaral.

That litle corker should go down in the annals of history, comparable to any quote attibuted to the likes of any prophetic voice from the past - or present.

It applies right across the board of modern society. Thanks to main stream media and social media, no one knows what to believe and what not to believe anymore.

Even if you follow the logical path of questioning everything, as far as possible checking out everything you read or hear, it's not always possible to unearth the truth. Even specialists in the many disciplines can't agree.

Think I'll go into hibernation - wake me up when it's over.

Today, Kate, Sean, Amelie and I have returned home as we planned a while ago. liar

We want the twins, as much as is reasonably possible, to live an ordinary life in their home country and want to consider the events of the last few days which have been so deeply disturbing. skull

While we are returning to the UK, it does not mean we are giving up our search for Madeleine. snooze

As parents, we cannot give up on our daughter until we know what has happened. oh go on

We have to keep doing everything we can to find her. Shocked

But we would like to ask for our privacy to be respected now that we have returned home. interview

No one, even with with a heart of stone can take away that there's a little girl missing - why anyone would not want to help find her is a mystery - and obviously if we find Madeleine then everyone can move on.

The McCanns reportedly commenting on the Netflix documentary about their missing daughter Madeleine. Did they try to stop the production being filmed because it might hamper the police investigation? No, they didn't. They let it go on representing the story according to the Mccann gospel, who would have thought.

Did you think about hampering the official investigation fronted by the Portuguese police when you released a monster into the media; when you hired a string of private detectives to lead a false trail; when you travelled to Portugal to film your very own re-enactment of your fateful holiday; when you made so many public appearances before the cameras on studio sofas - including Oprah Winfrey?

When you tried to destroy the life of the Portuguese police chief, Gonçalo Amaral. The man who did everything in his powers to solve the mystery of your child's disappearance. Did you then think you were hindering a police investigation - eh?

Interesting how the demotic language has captured a very precise definitional word from the world of Atomic Physics and has completely reversed its meaning.

In Physics a Quantum leap is the smallest possible movement of anything anywhere.
It is the movement of a single electron from one orbit (shell) to another
