In a nutshell:

- Kate and Gerry were evasive of the truth
- For instance when asked about the effects of the book, Kate mentioned that social media and internet groups had followed and believed Goncalo Amaral's book.
- Kate not expecting followup question: Were these groups around prior to the book, or after?
- Struggling to find words Kate was forced to admit that the groups were around prior to the book, although in her own words the book "added fuel to the fire"
- The judge asked did the effect of the book compare to losing your daughter?
- Kate replied "it compounded the pain"
- Kate left by the back door
- After the break Gerry talked confidently, he talked clearly, and he lied.
- He was asked much the same questions as Kate was, only his answers were slightly different.
- Gerry too was asked if the groups on the internet were around before Amaral's book, he replied he wasn't sure.
- Gerry mentioned that Sean had asked why Mr Amaral had said that they had hidden Madeleine's body
- The judge asked Gerry what impact Goncalo's book had had on the perception of public opinion as to the involvement of the McCanns with regards to Madeleine's disappearance
- Gerry declared that he couldn't be sure as he didn't know what the public opinion was before the book.
- He was also asked how losing his daughter compared pain wise to the damage the book did.
- Gerry stated that the two things happened at different times, and therefore couldn't be compared.
- Gerry was asked if he ever had a loss of appetite or suffered insomnia due to the contents of the book, yes came the reply "but it wasn't permanent"
- Gerry attempted to discuss the dogs. He claimed that the dogs didn't find any blood
- Despite the judge telling him to be quiet, he continued
- At this point the judge, with a wry smile, waved a backhand at Gerry and told him to be quiet, interrupted his every utterance, asked him if he was a specialist on the dogs, and then reminded Gerry that he wasn't here to state things he was here to answer her questions in her court.
- Goncalo Amaral entered the court apprehensive, and left full of life and confidence.
- The final day was due to be on Thursday, but the McCanns requested Goncalo's financial records as well as those of the producer of the documentary, the publishers of the book and TVI, the tv station that broadcast the documentary

Well I thought I'd seen it all from the McCanns, but dear me, the figure Kate cast in front of the judge today was even more pitiful than that she cuts on Lorraine Kelly's sofa each year. What was most striking though was the sheer lack of thought behind each and every answer she gave. Asked by the judge whether she had ever suffered from depression, the answer she gave was no, but then went on to waffle on about how depression can come in many forms, I'm guessing a lack of cash in her rear pocket couldn't be diagnosed officially as depression, much to her dismay. Kate was quiet in her responses but flashed the forlorn look over to the clearly unimpressed judge.
As a witness for the prosecution goes she was hardly man of the match. Asked about the how the book had affected Sean and Amelie, Kate mentioned the fact that child psychologist, Dave Trickey, had advised them to answer any questions the children might have. Asked if either of the twins had queried anything, Kate stated that Sean had asked if they killed Madeleine, when given the answer she said he just moved on, followed by her trademark curl of the lips. Wow! Just like Kate and Gerry did when Madeleine asked why they didn't come when her and Sean were crying 7 years ago. Kate also mentioned the fact that the McCanns have an internet media monitoring unit. No surprises there hotlips, though nice of you to confirm it to those who have been tormented by your "friends" for speaking the truth about your heinous past.
As you would expect both Kate and Gerry were evasive of the truth, for instance when asked about the effects of the book, Kate mentioned that social media and internet groups had followed and believed Goncalo Amaral's book. What Kate wasn't expecting was the follow up question, were these groups around prior to the book, or after......................struggling to find words Kate was forced to admit that the groups were around prior to the book, although in her own words the book "added fuel to the fire" heaven forfend!! Before Kate left her position, and could finally head off to being her stony faced self again, the judge asked a big question, how did the effect of the book compare to losing your daughter. This is a vitally important question, remember the official line from the McCanns at the start of the proceeding was that it was far worse. Now faced with the question, Kate changed the official line to a new improved line "it compounded the pain" Following the questions Kate stood up moved to the back of the court moved her way down the pew to were I was sat, had a change of heart turned and bailed out the back door. At that point it was time for a break.
After a short interval we went upstairs to the courtroom once again, this time it was the turn of Gerry. As we know Gerry likes to act the big man, full of bravado and self importance, and today was no different. He talked confidently, he talked clearly, and he lied. He was asked much the same questions as Kate was, only his answers were slightly different. Yes he was more forceful and assured with his responses, but as far as substance and argument of point goes he was as wishy washy as his partner in crime. Gerry too was asked if the groups on the internet were around before Amaral's book, he replied he wasn't sure. I almost did a real life lol! We're talking about a man who is a control freak to a the point of obsession. Of course old flat head knew the groups were around before the book, just like the official PJ files were around before the book. The very same police files the book was based on.
Gerry mentioned that Sean had asked why Mr Amaral had said that they had hidden Madeleine's body............I bet the answer they gave wasn't "well your mummy's clothes were covered in the scent of a human corpse, we lied through our teeth about the factors that led to Madeleine's disappearance, and set about a life of lie upon lie, hidden truth upon hidden truth and slanderous accusations of our own. The judge asked Gerry what impact Goncalo's book had had on the perception of public opinion as to the involvement of the McCanns with regards to Madeleine's disappearance, you couldn't make Gerry's response up. He , full of smarm and smugness, declared that he couldn't be sure as he didn't know what the public opinion was before the book. He was also asked how losing his daughter compared pain wise to the damage the book did. His response? A diversion to say the least, when he stated that the two things happened at different times, and therefore couldn't be compared. Digging more holes than Scotland Yard there Gerry me old fruit! Today belonged solely to Goncalo Amaral, who entered the court apprehensive, and left full of life and confidence. The final day was due to be on Thursday, but the McCanns, without thought for Goncalo, and whether he would have to organise child minders caused yet another postponement, due to them requesting Goncalo's financial records as well as those of the producer of the documentary, the publishers of the book and TVI, the tv station that broadcast the documentary, but it isn't about the money hey? Yeah right.

Catching up and still miles behind so this may have been already discussed (in which case apologies) but why would SMcC be travelling on "the" school bus?  Don't they live in a village?  Was it not publicised years back that M and subsequently the twins were going to a village school?  Would find it surprising if this is true, especially that October last there was a UK radio news broadcast which (openly) stated the Snr Amaral had claimed K had killed M and hidden her in a freezer, particularly as Snr A has not stated that K did that.  If a story needs to be told, under oath in open court it should contain an element of credibility, otherwise it merely insults the intelligence.

Maybe this radio programme was on air to promote the release of Goncalo Amaral's book in the UK? I seem to recall one of the McCanns' witnesses - was it Emma Loach? – telling the court that she'd seen it in the shops.

Doesn't look as though the McCanns have done anything to improve their chances of winning.  It sounds as though Kate gave a lacklustre performance and Gerry irritated the Judge by insisting on launching into a load of rubbish about the dogs.  The Judge asked him if he was an expert, then told him to shut up!  Kate admitted the forums existed before Goncalo's book came out, but Gerry said he didn't know.  Much more of course, and well worth a read.  It looks as though Goncalo has every reason to feel confident.

It's possible that the school has its own bus service for pupils living at a distance but their website is down and I can't check that.

Still catching up but I absolutely agree VFI.I have dropped my son off MANY a time for the bus and I have always waited because many a time the bus was too late and MANY a time that bus has not come or it has just sailed past and not stopped. Then I have taken him in myself.Not a problem to me at all but he's at college!! Quite a difference between his age and the twins!

But, if the bus doesn' t turn up these twins are stranded. Have they got phones to contact their loving mother?

No way would I ever leave a child of Sean and Amelie's age at a bus stop.

Does this fall within the bounds of "responsible parenting" I wonder?

I thought poor old Kate had to give up her work? So what stopped her doing the school run like most parents?

As for hearing this on the radio on the bus, that sounds like cow pat to me.

It's precisely because the McCanns have produced more bovine manure than most that I would very much like to see KM's latest offering properly tested for methane gas by the Lisbon court, TTT

If so, I'm surprised that its drivers are allowed to play/listen to the radio while ferrying groups of children to and from their homes and, if not, I'm surprised that drivers of public buses are allowed to have the radio on while driving and picking up/dropping off passengers.  

As with all of her words, I would like to see KM's latest claim tested in a court of law in time-honoured fashion and hope that the defence will be making the appropriate requests to the judge.

Wow, that was a good catch up. 

Not sure if this is relevant to the bus situation but up until recently, I'm assuming in most counties I'm sure faith school transport was funded. The parents had to contribute but it was being funded by the local councils. I'm sure it's now being pulled as a cost saving measure but this this may explain why they were put on the bus and KM didn't take them in every day. 

It may be the council paid for a local firm and contracted it out. Either way, I bet that bus company know who they are and are bricking it. 

I could be wrong on this of course but if not it may explain it.

It's to be hoped that upon the defence making the appropriate requests, the judge will order the McCanns to provide the date, or approximate thereof, on which Sean asked the question of his mother that she relied on in Court when making her personal statement on oath, together with the details of which bus he was travelling on, so that enquiries can be made of both the driver and the relevant radio station, if any, Monty Heck.  

When using public buses to get around various parts of the Iberian penisula, whether in cities, towns, or country areas, I've noticed that it's not uncommon for drivers to have the radio playing while they ply their trade and it therefore occurs to me that the fact this is uncommon in the UK won't necessarily be known to the court, nor is it likely to be aware of the peculiar lack of reference to the contents of Dr Amaral's book by the UK MSM other than in the most general terms which makes it improbable that the account given by KM earlier today is an accurate one.

How can they ( Mccann's ) expect the judge to believe that one of them (Kate) knew about the internet groups before the book came out but the other  ( Gerry)  didn't ???

These are the parents who have been joined at the hip ( At least in front of the camera ) over the last 7 years and yet Kate didn't appear to have told Gerry about the existence of the internet groups before Mr Amaral's book came out  ?

The parents of Madeleine McCann have become the subject of a hate campaign on the internet.
Their local newspaper, the Leicester Mercury, has had to ban all comments on stories about the missing four-year-old after it was bombarded with "spiteful and defamatory" messages about her parents Gerry and Kate.
The paper's Internet site has received hundreds of postings, many of which call for the couple to be prosecuted over the abduction of Madeleine.
Mr and Mrs McCann have faced criticism over their decision to leave their daughter asleep in her room at their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, while they dined at a nearby tapas bar.
Mr McCann, a hospital consultant, described the critical remarks as hurtful and unhelpful.
Leicester Mercury editor Nick Carter said: "A tiny minority of people seem to want to say nasty, spiteful and defamatory things about the McCann family.
"They are bombarding our site, and we had no choice but to block comment entirely on reports about the family.'
