I guess that, at the moment, the twins will believe that anyone who criticises their parents is a vile troll and can be ignored.

They won't stay in that state of blissful innocence for ever though. Roll on those stroppy teenage years!

I remember James Bulger's mother being quoted as saying that she didn't allow her second son Michael (born after James died) to go anywhere other than to and from school.

Her terror was understandable knowing what unspeakable evil exists.

The McCanns are interested only in protecting their unsavoury skins.

No, it's not that.
They'd filed the twins as plaintiffs, so had to say something in order to stake a claim in the money they coveted.
Bear in mind this is about the 1.2 million.

@ Marconi -A vicar's wife looks good on the witness sheet I suppose, but as Jeanmunroe pointed out - it's all hearsay.

The parents need to be in the box imo, if they are not prepared to do that then I cannot see them winning this.

the appeal court judges already ruled that the book can be published and sold, how can a lower court not take note of that?

Of course we do not know the Portugese law on these things, would be handy to have a view from a Port. lawyer.

• Court heard from 2 witnesses today

Then we had a report from Martin Brunt:

• Both witnesses said that the police chief’s accusations had a ‘devastating effect’
• The TV documentary made things worse
• Amaral had claimed that Madeleine had died ‘accidentally’
• The court heard from Susan Hubbard, whom Brunt described as ‘the wife of the former priest’
• Loach and Hubbard ‘couldn’t understand’ how Amaral was allowed to write and publish his book
• The TV documentary made the McCanns and their friends ‘acting like crazy people, drinking heavily’

We then cut to an interview at the door of the court with the McCanns’ lawyer, Isabel; Duarte, conducted before the start of the day’s proceedings.

She was asked how much money Amaral had made from his book.

Answer: ‘We don’t know. It may never be found’.

Was he hiding it somewhere:

Answer: ‘We don’t know if he’s hiding it’

Asked again how much money he had made:

Answer: ‘I can’t say, there will be statements in court, you will hear in the court room’.

Asked once again, she declined to reply. She looked quite relaxed and was smiling.

Then it was back to Brunt who said that tomorrow the court would hear from:

• A London Solicitor (we presume that will be Angus McBride), and
• ‘A child psychologist’ and
• Susan Healy, ‘mother of Kate’.

None from the Police Force or pretendy Criminologist (MTW) etc or any one that can testify against the facts in the book.

Wait till Sr. Police inspector and others from the law enforcers side come on for Amaral.

Mccanns have no one on their side to counter the evidence amassed from investigation process!

I would have thought at the tender age of 8 yrs, the internet use of the twins would always be monitored. So should not be a difficult task as they should be sitting at the twins' side.

Well we all know the McCanns well by now, they always have to make a mountain out of a molehill, if it makes them look good in the eyes of the public. What normal caring parents do without question i.e. monitoring the internet, the McCanns have to make a huge public statement about it.

I don't know, perhaps she changed her mind. I did go into kitchen to make a cuppa, and when I came back Isabel Duarte was on, then Brunty gave the list of people. I don't know if she was on just before ID, but if she was it was bloomin quick.

I certainly don't recall any previous hearings getting anything like the publicity that this one is; it can't be just because St Kate has bothered to leave her shrine to attend.

No I'm thinking that this is a good sign and that the media wants the other side of the story to be heard.
