just to throw something in from left field..in the legal sense stranger abduction is defined as stranger or slight acquaintance.

Well, DCI Redwood and Scotland Yard appear to be incompetent. I was still confident of hearing about progress soon but instead have to hear this from Portugal.

What new evidence do you have, DCI Redwood, and where did it come from? The Beazer?

I said this yesterday when all seemed doom and gloom. AR seemed to be speaking from a script. I think maybe words are being used very judiciously.
There was the comment about the key issue of mobile phone analysis yesterday in Guardian I think....that key issue and no other key issue was mentioned.

OMG, are we so blind we miss the obvious?

Of course the purpose of sending the Yard was to get their hands on the unreleased files. Files mccanns have been hankering after all this while.

We will soon find out whether the contents will be used in the upcoming trial.

Martin Brunt was on Sky earlier saying that within a few weeks there would be something more positive from PJ, rather than a throwaway statement by a Portuguese Chief who he quoted was Dep Head of Criminal Dept in Lisbon, and said that it would be up to the Attorney General.

Well he has just tweeted this..........

#McCann Now Portugal's Attorney-General says case will be reopened a only if there are "credible and relevant new facts, not speculation."

The top man no less is saying only if there are 'credible' facts. I think SY need to be interviewed again, and clarify their position.

I don't know if this is on another thread but the DM has a heading up -

"Portuguese police refuse to reopen Madeleine McCann case saying there's no new evidence (despite Scotland Yard saying they've got 195 new leads"

It's all so bl**dy predictable!!

There aren't any comments as yet but you can guess they'll all be along the lines of "oh, poor, poor McCanns", "how can the McCanns be treated like this by the Portugese police", and on and on it goes ...

I don't expect there will be any printed asking why KM doesn't answer the 48 questions that were put to her or why her, Gerry and the Tapas lot won't do a reconstruction which will reopen the investigation.

It really is becoming a joke. C'mon McCanns show some bl**dy balls and get your asses back to Portugal and do that damn reconstruction.

If they (PJ) do reopen it certainly wont be on Yard new evidence of 195 fresh leads!
What the AR said so far made me puke. There could be a very dark agenda and conspiracy and like I said earlier the review could just be British Government way of getting access to unreleased files.

On the other hand, however, both the Yard and PJ may be in this strategy together, playing the blinders I mean, so who knows what is going to happen.

The Yard urge PJ to reopen, but surely as coppers they should know better that there will be cost involved. No government authority is going to allocate budget just to follow up leads (god only knows where they got them from), when so many thousands had been either eliminated or checked out before that led nowhere.

Watched the panorama programme. Actually thought the DCI spoke and sounded much more like a politician, ie took so many words to say very little. Then picked up on spokesman mitchell and his 'absolutely no evidence etc etc ' SO Messrs Mitchell, Redwood, et al all with the same mantra, here is the thing, question, What evidence do you have for an abduction? JT sighting?
KM who 'knows' because she was there? .....Mmmmm. oh DR AMARAL is getting his books back.....will that be on all the pages or primetime aunty beeb? Nah! As for the programme....poor. panorama used to be insightful and well researched, not establishment biased.

I`m not surprised - and its all as a result of UK agencies fouling up the PJ`s initial investigation (which was initiated by the McCanns). Let`s foul up their investigation and then blame them for it all going wrong - typically bully tactics. And they still continue to blame the Portuguese - yes, this could well result in a diplomatic row. It`s no co-incidence I`m sure that this recent attack took place on 25th April, Portugal`s Freedom Day. But why???
