Martin Brunt is a prat who cant shut his gob. He will spin anything -- he's as bad as the mccanns!

Isnt it just bloody marvellous that the UK police slagged off the PJ only to get back their own medicine!
Surely it must be a bitter pill to swallow to be seen as incompetent that the best they could come up with after a year on the review and $2M down the drain is just hypotheses and speculation that Maddie could be alive or she could be dead.
Their 195 fresh leads to justify she may be alive is a bloody joke.

Who would have thought that the Yard, supposedly the best coppers in the land, could come up with such amateurish gibberish.
They are turning themselves into international jokes.

Yes, there is a quote of his I put up on the other thread somewhere from a newspaper aticle saying it was the timeline, and there were gaps so he believed she could have been taken then, that was the theory on why she could be alive.

This article is the usual PR stuff from the Independant, just quoting this.........

Madeleine McCann: Unfinished business

[snipped]
Detectives said yesterday that they had worked through about one-quarter of the 100,000 documents, and other material, which had thrown up 195 "investigative opportunities". The potential leads include some sightings. It's understood that while none are "golden nuggets", there are some that are significant and have contributed to the theory that Madeleine, who would turn nine on 12 May, is still alive. Officers are "developing material which we believe represents genuinely new material", said DCI Redwood.

But the trawl has also highlighted the major gaps in the original investigation. DCI Redwood appealed for anyone who may have been at the resort at the time of the possible snatch to come forward.

Much of the focus in the early stages of the investigation was on the people who were dining with the McCanns near their apartment on the night of the disappearance. DCI Redwood is working with another police review team in Porto – away from the scene of the abduction and headed by an experienced Portuguese detective – which also wants the case to be reopened.

I can't believe Mr Redwood is serious when he explained why Madeleine could be alive.

I wonder if he saw the recent BBC Scotland program on the Suzanne Pilley case? Does he believe she is alive? They only had circumstantial evidence along with a cadaver dog "hit", after all.....

Zero DNA, not even the inconclusive kind.

And in case you missed it — because no journalist is writing it and
telling you — the reason for the Panorama programme being bought
forward on some channels, and the sudden flurry of “sightings” from
years ago is that Amaral’s books are being returned to the publisher
today, 26th April, so they can start selling them again. For those of
you who missed all that, TM spent thousands of your generously donated
pounds on trying to prevent Amaral’s freedom of speech, and lost. The
“Fund” will probably have to pay the court costs. Don’t watch this
hand, look over here !

Think he means leads. What more formal way. What is more formal than the Attorney General. Ah, of course, a quiet chat between Prime Ministers ........ again, (didn't GB have a chat with the Prime Minister of Portugal too.)

what a waste of taxpayers money if this all Redwood could come up with, does he really work for sy.

surely you would start with the parents and tapas friends, with a re-interview then a reconstuction, and if that proves nowt then look at the witness statements next, surely you wouldnt want to go after all these bogus sightings first.

and the interviewer did not ask him..... Mr Redwood, how do you arrive, from believing she was abducted, to believing she might be alive? Given the statistics, that's why I an asking you to elaborate... I would expect you to say the opposite, it is more likely sadly that she is not alive...

Let Portugal re -open the case on their own terms.
btw no surpsrises here....the rabid pros are saying no reopening as PJ wont embarrass themselves further by having to reveal the mess of the first investigation and that PJ probably know more about what went on with abduction or are actually involved !!

Mr Redwood is either out of his depth, is following orders, has had his hand forced and was trying to be careful of what he was saying, or is playing a blinder. All very odd, but being the spokesman and lead investigator in this mammoth case might phase any detective. I do not envy him. I have just rewatched the Panorama programme again in the cold light of day and must admit it was not as biased as it seemed.

Since when did NI donate a million pound to the fund? First I heard about that one. Was it not just the Sun who paid for the serialisation rights on the Madeleine book? Around 1/4 million tops? I am sure it will all appear in the next accounts.

Mr Redwood,to add, seems a likeable chap. Best of luck to him. Does anyone know where his accent is from?

Edit to ask, why was Mr Carlos Anjos saying there is no review going on in Portugal, by the PJ, when it has been reported on several occasions that it is? Maria Gomez was asked about this and she mentioned the PJ were conducting a review of the procedures they used, so perhaps a little confusion there, then again Mr Redwood was on next saying he and the review team in Porto are collaborating.

The Mcanns have managed successfully to politicise this case and now for sure they are seating relaxed just watching drama enfolding between two countries.

How chances are there for a politicised case like this to be reopened from square one of what happened on 03 may 2007? very small even if there is any.

Do they want their name cleared or do they want to find their child? It seems the vast majority of their money has gone on the former, which does not make any sense unless it is a fact they know she is dead.

will be interesting to see if the latest photo appears in the updated book or even on the cover. Then a very pertinent q might be asked of SY...why if it is for the search, was it given to the McCanns before publication? I think even some supporters might be bothered by this if it happens.

russiandoll, the McCanns worked with SY together on this new photo. I would look at it from the other point of view, which I asked on the other thread. They knew of this photo, and worked on it, therefore I would expect it to be on the cover of the book, as it is a book to help find Madeleine isn't it, and having the latest picture, instead of a 2 year old would surely be more helpful.

So where were News International when Kerry Needham needed help and has had to beg for someone to listen and get involved in her search for Ben? Why are these doctors from Leicestershire so deserving of special help when there are plenty of desperate parents out there who need help? I really don't get it - smells fishier than a very fishy thing.

At least there is good news about Amaral's books - let's hope someone has the cohones to sell it.

One of the favourite insults of the jatyk crew is we are 'armchair detectives'.
Well, pity that Cameron didn't just ask us 'armchair detectives' to do the Review?
I wouldve told them for the princely sum of 1p that "Maddie could be alive, or she could sadly be dead"!

I WANT to think this is a cards-close-to-chest thing. Could it be that UK are nervous about the fact the Portuguese review has been running for a YEAR (longer than UK!). Are some 'high-up' MP's scared their dirty peccadilloes will be exposed?

I did expect more of SY. JATYK2 trash Amaral and PJ because they cannot trash the evidence. Surely our -independent elite force' (ahem, excuse me) SY should be above all this utter claptrap?

Why in HELL would PT re-open the case to chase 195+ 'ghosts'? They know what happened to Maddie (all bar small details) and they certainly know what did NOT happen (ie, predator abduction). GA et al have always been definite that the answer lies in the process, and to move forward a reconstruction MUST be performed.
Who is being protected in UK? Not K+G...

I think I smell fear that the Portuguese really HAVE found something that could re-open the (original) investigation.

Poor poor Maddie. She is not with us. Will she get her justice? I just don't know anymore - it seems that children's lives don't matter anymore. A benefit fiddler will get a longer jail term than a kiddie fiddler. One of Baby P's tormentors is already walking free.

The corruption makes me ill. I honestly question if I want to be part of the human race anymore.
Its time for a revolution. Pity this wasn't France. The UK public in general are so pathetically apathetic it makes me want to hurl. Glued to their TV's, stuffing junk, watching Britain's Got Talent/ X-Factor/ TOWIE and being spoon-fed propaganda from the bbc, Murdoch et al.
My blood boils at the absolute lazy acceptance of whatever s**t the Government throws. If I had a passport, I'd emigrate. As it stands, I think I'll just jump off a cliff instead Sad

You'll never be forgotten, Maddie - used, abused and thrown away like trash Sad

So this forensic analysis of the timeline, makes Redwood believe she was taken, what time would that be then????............

Following a forensic analysis of the time line, I am satisfied there was an opportunity for Madeleine to be taken as part of a criminal act – abduction by a stranger. There are cases where young people have been taken and found alive years later.”
