For me:
Finding out that they routinely left their children alone each night to go out to a tapas bar.
Constantly insisting that this was like their back garden.
Putting their other two children back in the creche each day and every day once Madeleine had disappeared.
Their strange behaviour leaving their other two children with relatives while they went off to Germany, Italy, Netherlands, in Gerry's case - USA.
Gerry's odd denial about use of sedatives - not a straight no or something like 'when they have a cold we use Calpol' but 'I'm not going to comment..waffle, waffle, waffle, ... (scratches ear ) .. No'.
Their insistance that they would stay in Portugal until Madeleine was found. As soon as they were made arguidos I said to my husband - I bet they go home now. Sure thing - they more or less jumped on the next plane home.
EXACTLY to every point.
The fact she kept looking downwards when she spoke irked me, its deception.
The fact they never once said PLEASE IF YOU GO ON HOLIDAY dont do what we did, use the creche at night if there is one, or take your children with you....
NOTHING NADA..Zilch.
What also irks me is if this was a council family they would have been chucked in jail for neglect.
IF THEY WERE INNOCENT why did they jump on the next plane....I would have stood my ground and helped the police not run away.
Nah they might not have done anything, but they were solely neglectful of that child and what made me sooooooooooo mad was when they left them again after the children were crying for several hours the night before.
