I have a suspicion that might happen - doesn't feel like he will confess if he has not for the rape conviction.BlueBag wrote:As Peter said... the "how" will be interesting.

Let us not forget that Gonçalo Amaral knew all about him last year, and talked to Mark Saunokonokoin April 2019, predicting that he would be named

German paedophile is UK police 'target' in Maddie McCann mystery, former Portuguese detective claims
By Mark Saunokonoko • Senior Journalist

A German paedophile who UK police are preparing to target as the man who abducted and possibly killed missing girl Madeleine McCann is not the real culprit, according to an explosive theory outlined by the Portuguese detective who once led the 2007 case.
Goncalo Amaral made the allegation that the German child sex offender – who is known to authorities - would become the focus of Scotland Yard's investigation in a remarkable interview on Maddie, nine.com.au's podcast exploring the disappearance of Madeleine.
Mr Amaral led the Portuguese investigation into the Madeleine mystery for five months, from May 2007. He was removed from the case after he publicly criticised some lines of inquiry that UK detectives who arrived in Portugal just after Maddie vanished appeared interested in focusing on.
"[Operation Grange detectives] are preparing the end of the investigation, with a German paedophile who is in prison right now," Mr Amaral said.
"He is probably going to be the scapegoat for the case."

Already the holes are starting to appear, great big glaring fat black holes. Another timely repeat courtesy of the BBC..
Madeleine McCann: Police plea for help as German suspect revealed
36 minutes ago
Police are appealing for the public's help in solving the Madeleine McCann case, after they announced a child sex offender was the new suspect.
The 43-year-old German man, who has not been named, is currently in prison.
He is believed to have been in the area where Madeleine was last seen, when she disappeared in Portugal 13 years ago.
Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, felt the latest development was "potentially very significant", the family's spokesman said.
Clarence Mitchell, who has represented the family since the three-year-old's disappearance, said that in 13 years he couldn't "recall an instance when the police had been so specific about an individual".
He told BBC Breakfast: "Of all the thousands of leads and potential suspects that have been mentioned in the past, there has never been something as clear cut as that from not just one, but three, police forces."
The Met Police, who are working with German and Portuguese police, said the case remained a "missing persons" investigation because it does not have "definitive evidence" as to whether Madeleine is alive or not.
However, German investigators - who are due to give an update later - have classed it as a murder inquiry.
"There is reason to assume that there are other persons, apart from the suspect, who have concrete knowledge of the course of the crime and maybe also of the place where the body was left," said German police.
The suspect, who is not being named because of German court privacy rules, has been described as white with short blond hair and about 6ft (1.8m) tall with a slim build at the time.
Police have also released photos of two vehicles - a VW camper van and a Jaguar car - which are believed to be linked to the man, as well as a house in Portugal.
The day after Madeleine vanished in 2007, the suspect transferred the Jaguar to someone else's name.
On Wednesday, Germany's federal criminal police office (BKA) - which is leading this stage of the case - said the man was serving a jail sentence in Germany for a sex crime.
He has "numerous" previous convictions for "sexual abuse of children", the office added.
Madeleine went missing shortly before her fourth birthday from an apartment in Praia da Luz on the evening of 3 May 2007, while her parents were with friends at a nearby tapas bar.
Her disappearance sparked a huge and costly police hunt across much of Europe - the most recent Metropolitan Police investigation, which began in 2011, has cost more than £11m.
Det Ch Insp Mark Cranwell, who is in charge of the Met investigation, said the suspect, then aged 30, frequented the Algarve between 1995 and 2007, staying for "days upon end" in his camper van and living a "transient lifestyle".
He was in the Praia de Luz area where the McCann family was staying when she disappeared and received a phone call at 7.32pm, which ended at 8.02pm. Madeleine is believed to have disappeared between 9.10pm and 10pm that evening.
Police have released details of the suspect's phone number (+351 912 730 680) and the number which dialled him (+351 916 510 683), and said any information about these numbers could be "critical".
Det Ch Insp Cranwell said the caller was a "key witness" and should get in touch.
And appealing to the public for details about the suspect, he added: "Some people will know the man we are describing today, the suspect in our investigation. I'm appealing to you directly.
"You may know, you may be aware of some of the things he has done. He may have confided in you about the disappearance of Madeleine.
"More than 13 years have passed and your loyalties may have changed.
"This individual is in prison and we are conscious that some people may have been concerned about contacting police in the past. Now is the time to come forward."
German police said the suspect is thought to have worked jobs including as a waiter, but also committed burglaries in hotels and holiday resorts and dealt drugs.
Christian Hoppe, from the German police, said the suspect may have broken into an apartment before spontaneously kidnapping Madeleine.
The joint appeal from the British, German and Portuguese police includes a £20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible of Madeleine's disappearance.
In a statement, the McCanns, from Rothley in Leicestershire, welcomed the appeal: "We would like to thank the police forces involved for their continued efforts in the search for Madeleine.
"All we have ever wanted is to find her, uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice.
"We will never give up hope of finding Madeleine alive, but whatever the outcome may be, we need to know as we need to find peace."
Police said the suspect was one of 600 people that detectives on the UK inquiry, known as Operation Grange, originally looked at, though he had not been a suspect.
After a 10-year anniversary appeal in 2017, "significant" fresh information about him was provided.
Since then, Met detectives have carried out "extensive inquiries" in Portugal and Germany to gather more details about him.
The force said it was trying to "prove or disprove" his involvement in the case and retained an "open mind".
Those with information can contact the Operation Grange incident room on 020 7321 9251.

Sky News - 'Something is different this time...
Numerous suspects have come to light in the Madeline McCann case over the years, but family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said that it seems as if there is something different this time.
"In more than 13 years of working with the family I can’t recall the police being so specific about an individual," Mr Mitchell told Sky News.
"He is not being named and the police are quite adamant they are not going to do that, certainly not yet, but they want very specific details around his movement in 2007, even down to phone calls he received the night before Madeleine went missing and the fact he changed the registration of his car the day after." 'German police 'more pessimistic'
Sky's crime correspondent Martin Brunt: "There is extraordinary detail about this new suspect. He is described as a convicted sex offender and that he is in prison at the moment - having been convicted of the rape of an elderly woman in the Algarve in 2005 - around two years before Madeleine vanished.
"He's not going anywhere, which is good for police". '

'Suspect was a 'sexual predator who had already been convicted of crimes against little girls'
Hans Christian Wolters, a spokesman for the Braunschweig Public Prosecutor's Office, said: "With the suspect, we are talking about a sexual predator who has already been convicted of crimes against little girls and he's already serving a long sentence."
He said the suspect was regularly living in the Algarve between 1995 and 2007, where he worked jobs in the gastronomy business, but funded his lifestyle by committing crimes, including thefts in hotel complexes and apartments, as well as drug dealing.
Mr Wolters added: "The Braunschweig prosecution is now concerned because before going abroad he last had his residence in Braunschweig." '

German police have 'not ruled out sexual motive' for crime against Madeleine
Christian Hoppe, from Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), said German police have not ruled out a sexual motive for the alleged crime against Madeleine, which is now being treated as a murder case.
He added that the suspect may have broken into an apartment in the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz - where Madeleine was on holiday with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, and her twin siblings Sean and Amelie - before spontaneously kidnapping her.

The Murky McCann Milieu

The police have yet to explain the actual significance of photographs of a 1980s Volkswagen T3 Westfalia campervan and a 1993 Jaguar XJR6. The car hired by the McCanns also remains a bit of a mystery. In 2008, it was revealed that “one of them had later removed the carpet from the boot compartment in order to scrub it clean.” The boot had been “left open for several days” also. More significantly, shared on ‘The Complete Mystery of Madeleine McCann’ Facebook page last month is this photograph illustrating the distribution of blood spots in the sitting room of the holiday apartment where the McCann family were staying in Praia da Luz, Portugal in May 2007. Elsewhere, analysis of the setting highlights that tiles in the room were later removed by persons unknown.

Former lead investigator in Madeleine McCann case predicted latest development involving German paedophile in April 2019; he suggested the man would be made a “scapegoat” by Scotland Yard
Amongst all the hubbub of the last 24 hours surrounding the “identification of a German sex offender as the key suspect” in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, it has been conveniently forgotten that the former lead detective in the case, Goncalo Amaral, predicted such a development back in April 2019.
With nearly £12 million of public money spent on this case thus far, an ending – happy or otherwise – would bring closure for all involved. Yet, with British cops again recently grubbing around for yet more funding, this actually not so new ‘development’ actually could instead be primarily about helping that endeavour.
In April last year, Amaral – who had focused his inquiries onto a German paedophile without success in 2008 – told Australia’s News 9 (through an interpreter):
“Scotland Yard are preparing the end of the case. They are going to a use a German paedophile who is in jail in Germany at this time. He is going to be the scapegoat for it. I don’t how they will start it, but that will be the big ending. This will be the conclusion of the case.”
Significantly, Scotland Yard and the mainstream media seem to have now forgotten all about this.
Missing Madeleine – Questions STILL without Answers
Many questions about what happened on the evening of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann remain. Some that have been highlighted by the press and discussed online include:
Why did Kate McCann refuse to answer 48 questions put to her by the Portuguese police?
Why were certain records of phone calls on the evening of the disappearance “whoosh-clunked”from the memories of the phones of Mr and Mrs McCann and the ‘Tapas 9’?
Why did a British sniffer dog sense the smell of a corpse in a cupboard in the apartment from which Madeleine McCann disappeared?
Why did a sniffer dog also supposedly sense the smell of a corpse in a vehicle hired by the couple a month after the disappearance of their daughter?
Why did Mr and Mrs McCann go jogging and play tennis in the days after their daughter’s disappearance?
Was it acceptable for Mr and Mrs McCann’s mortgage to be paid by the fund established to search for their missing daughter?

Suspect used Volswagen camper van and a Jaguar at the time of Madeleine's disappearance
British and German police appealed for information about the suspect and released photographs of vehicles - a Volkswagen camper van and a Jaguar - which he used at the time.
German police said earlier that the suspect, who lived near Praia da Luz, where the McCann's were holidaying in 2007, has been sentenced on numerous occasions to prison terms for sexual abuse of children in the past.

" He had short blonde hair at the time " !
So not Eggman , Tannerman , Crecheman , Smithman , Spotty man , George Harrison man or even " fat woman in purple " ! Or any of the other " suspects "
No one saw a camper van or a Jaguar in the vicinity of 5a or anywhere in Praia du Luz that night , neither easily missed .
The McCanns must be " buoyed " about all the attention , back on the front pages how long before they're doing interviews on a sofa ?
Oh yes , it'd have to be via video link or something , due to lockup/down !
Will Cuddlecat make a new appearance for Kate to hide her face behind , or will she just wear a mask .
Still it makes a change from " look how many have died with the virus "
What don't they want us to see ?

Brueckner is known to have been in and around Praia da Luz on the Algarve coast at the time Madeleine vanished on May 3, 2007, on holiday with her parents and her twin siblings Sean and Amelie.
Now aged 43 and currently in prison, he may have looked between 25 and early 30s in 2007.
Christian Hoppe, from Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), told the country’s ZDF television channel the 43-year-old is serving a prison sentence for a sex crime and has two previous convictions for “sexual contact with girls”.

The only witness i can see being announced as coming forward and being enough to use in court is someone reported to have heard a confession - Nobody would believe someone in a padeophile ring or disposing a body would confess. An identification of the other phone number won't be enough to put in a german court surely

And surely they know where the other call is but why they only saying not in PDL. It could be important for witnesses in whatever place that other call was to come forward.

"A half-hour phone call was made to his [German suspect] Portuguese mobile phone around an hour before Madeleine is believed to have gone missing".

More like 2 hours as the call is said to be around 19.30 to 20.00.sallypelt wrote:"A half-hour phone call was made to his [German suspect] Portuguese mobile phone around an hour before Madeleine is believed to have gone missing".
Video of suspect raping a woman led to an investigation...
The suspect, who has not been named by police, is described as white with short blond hair and about 6ft tall with a slim build at the time Madeleine vanished shortly before her fourth birthday.
Sky News' crime correspondent Martin Brunt said: "This man came back into the frame in 2017 as a result of an alleged confession.
"I understand he was in a bar in Germany with another man, around the tenth anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance. A report came on the TV about the anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance and he said something to suggest that he knew what happened.
"He also allegedly showed a video of himself raping a woman. Video of the rape led to an investigation that last year meant he was convicted of the rape of a tourist on the Algarve in around 2005.
"That is what brought him back into the frame."

Suspect financed his life by 'committing crimes'
German public prosecutor told the news conference that the suspect, a German citizen, had already been "convicted for crimes against little girls".
He had been regularly living in Algarve between 1995 and 2007.
The suspect financed his life by committing crimes including thefts in hotels, apartments and drug dealing, the German public prosecutor said.
He worked in odd jobs in Lagos, including catering.
Braunschweig is looking after investigation because the suspect last had residence in Braunschweig prior to going abroad.

Just listened to the editor of a German newspaper he told us about the
criminal record of the”suspect “his phone was used in the Algarve at
the time he also had a van and a jaguar,he intimates the police heard
something from the prison maybe he wants his moment of fame.
My question, was he pulled in at the time.To me it stinks to high heaven
ROTTEN like the back of the McCanns car.

According to Sky News it was an implication of involvement when in a bar in germany rather than a prison confession.Blackpied wrote:Just listened to the editor of a German newspaper he told us about the

Re: The latest McCann suspect: Scotland Yard has revealed vital new information about a suspect wanted in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Suspect had his car re-registered in someone else's name the day after Madeleine vanished
The suspect has been linked to an early 1980s VW T3 Westfalia camper van - with a white upper body and yellow skirting, registered in Portugal - which was pictured in the Algarve in 2007.
Scotland Yard said he was driving the vehicle in the Praia da Luz area in the days before Madeleine's disappearance and is believed to have been living in it for days or weeks before and after 3 May.
He has also been linked to a 1993 Jaguar XJR6 with a German number plate seen in Praia da Luz and surrounding areas in 2006 and 2007.
The day after Madeleine went missing, the suspect had the car re-registered in Germany under someone else's name, although it is believed the vehicle was still in Portugal.
Both vehicles have been seized by German police, who said there is information to suggest the suspect may have used one of them in an offence.
The suspect's name was given to the Metropolitan Police in 2017 after the 10th anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance.

Suspect named as 'Christian B'
Sky News' crime correspondent Martin Brunt: "We can now identify the suspect. We can refer to him as Christian B. For legal reasons we can't reveal his surname".
(This is standard German legal practice fyi)
