Judge sacked for trolling people on online news stories

A judge has been sacked for using a pseudonym to post abusive comments on a newspaper website about cases he was involved in.

Recorder Jason Dunn-Shaw, of Maidstone Chambers in Kent, wrote scathing remarks about people involved in cases.

In one he had been sitting as a judge at Canterbury Crown Court, in another he was a barrister.

Not the only one!

Barbara Hewson who can be found regularly ‘trolling’ the CSA twitter feeds has been issued with a harassment warning.

It had been rumoured for a few weeks that she had left her chambers, but this is the first confirmation I have seen of that fact.

Barbara Hewson, 55, who came to prominence after the Jimmy Savile scandal when she called for the age of sexual consent to be substantially lowered, is the subject of mounting complaints to the Bar’s regulator.

At least three complaints have been lodged with the Bar Standards Board, The Times has learnt.

It has also emerged that Ms Hewson, a Court of Protection and human rights specialist, has within the past few weeks left her chambers, 1 Gray’s Inn Square, in London. The chambers, which is also home to the civil liberties lawyer Michael Mansfield, QC,………………..(hidden behind paywall)

Hard to believe for people in the law. Then again I have wondered when you have these whitewash cases that seem like obvious cover-ups, who are these people connected to and what interests do they share with those accused?

Hewson's cousin, Jonathan Denby, was the solicitor for/friend of Harvey Proctor. When this family relationship was pointed out on Twitter she waged a hate campaign. This included using RIPA to obtain names and addresses of Twitter users.

Solicitor arrested after TV tip-offs

PETER Jonathan Denby, the fugitive London solicitor hunted by police for nearly a year, was arrested yesterday after detectives, acting on a tip-off from the BBC programme Crimewatch, staged a dawn raid on a home in Yorkshire.

Denby, a former aide to Enoch Powell and friend of controversial Tory MP Harvey Proctor, was picked up in the town of Richmond, where he had been living under an alias. The 38-year-old solicitor, the nephew of a former president of the Law Society, has been on the run since last June.

Scotland Yard want to question him in connection with an incident in Mayfair. After police stopped a hired car on June 3 last year, they were held at gunpoint by two men with Irish accents. The men then fled in the car, which was believed to have been driven by Denby.

Denby‘s Islington home was later raided by armed detectives and his Jaguar car, found abandoned in Kent, was blown up by bomb squad officers.

The runaway solicitor was arrested in the Westfield district of Richmond, North Yorkshire, at 6am yesterday.

Chief Inspector Frank Stockton, of North Yorkshire police, told The Sunday Times last night that the tip-off followed the Crimewatch UK programme which was broadcast last Thursday.

‘Information was received from a member of the public in Richmond suggesting that one of the individuals shown as being wanted in connection with offences of armed robbery in the Metropolitan Police district may have been resident in the Richmond area,’ he said.

‘An operation was mounted by uniformed and CID officers during which the man shown on the television programme, known as Peter Jonathan Denby, was arrested. ‘

Police said Denby had only been in the area for a few weeks. After his arrest, he was transferred to Vine Street police station, London, whee he was being questioned last night.

During his ten-and-half months on the run, Denby made several calls to Harvey Proctor, the MP for Billericay, Essex.
The pair have been friends since they were involved in right-wing politics together at York University in the late 1960s.
Later, Denby became private secretary to Enoch Powell in the early 1970s and developed a life-long interest in the Loyalist cause.He then went into practice as one of London’s top legal experts in the specialist area of shipping law, but quickly ran into severe financial problems.

He now faces legal bills approaching pounds 500,000. Last year, he was ordered by the High Court to repay to his former clients, the Iranian shipping lines, a bribe of pounds 133,000 which he accepted from Greek shipowners.

His former partners in the firm of Lloyd Denby Neal are suing him for more than pounds 250,000 after dissolving the partnership.

Time is gold dust at the moment, so apologies if the following info has already been posted.

We know Dr John Synnott (lead author on the paper being discussed) was higher educated in Dublin (BSc 2007)/Liverpool (MSc 2009/PhD 2013) and then posted to Huddersfield Uni in 2013, on completion of his PhD.

Professor David Canter (one of the 5 experts flown out to Luz to film the 'Dispatches' docu in 2007) was Professor in Psychology at Liverpool Uni before moving to Huddersfield Uni in 2009.

It would be fair to assume that Canter would have been involved in some way in Synnott's supervision during his MSc days and there is strong evidence that they had continued close ties after Canter's posting to Huddersfield in 2009, before Synnott's move there in 2013.

In 2011, Synnott and Canter co-authored a paper for presentation at a conference in Amsterdam.

In 2015/2016, again Synnott and Canter co-authored 1 paper/year.

This is what Professor David V Canter's opinion was at the end of the 'Dispatches' investigation, as reported verbatim in The Daily Mail:

'I still feel abduction is the most likely possibility,' concludes forensic psychologist David Canter.
But he's pessimistic about finding the truth amid all the confusion.
'The trails may have gone so cold over the passage of time that even finding a body would not explain what really happened. We may still be talking about this case in 20 or even 50 years' time.'

This opinion/conclusion was not held by others in the group of 5 experts - we know what Professor Dave Barclay thought about the possibility of anyone having climbed through the window without leaving forensic traces. But, it does give some insight into the mindset of one of Dr David Synnott's close colleagues and one who has almost certainly had some influence over his (Synnott's) developing opinions.

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when this academic body decided to pursue the McCann hashtag or did they just stick a pin in a printout of a whole heap of hashtags which miraculously pierced McCann and only used this particular hashtag to conduct its study.

A predictably patronising reply. Two of the authors are on the ethics board (so there) and it was peer reviewed so it's infallible. Yes thanks, we know what that means.

It doesn't answer why the particular subject was chosen or why the conclusion paraphrases Dr Gerry McCann's words but doesn't cite it.

So this Professor is not willing to answer some of the questions GEG raised. Ha Ha I wouldn't have been willing to either. My view is that one cannot make sense out of nonsense and it seems to me that is the case with this so-called "research".

Another one bites the dust, oh another one bites the dust thanks to the dedicated reseachers at CMOMM.

Well done everyone what an outcome a Professor unwilling to answer questions. ha ha ha.

The McCanns, using public donations, have bought their "innocence" in the MSM and it seems to annoy the hell out of them that the sole medium which they cannot buy or control, the internet, has the audacity to say their story does not stack up. Perish the day when free speech can be blocked by power and wealth. Perhaps Mr. Synnott should ponder on the words of Edmund Burke - "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing".

Hi Willo. I have no idea who he/she/IT is. I see its tweets on the Twitter feed, over there>>>>>>>, and it doesn't matter what time of day or night I log into this forum, I see Walker1000, or whatever it is calling itself, tweeting away. Therefore, it must be its "job" to keep posting the vitriol that it posts, otherwise, it cannot be employed in the "real world". And what I have read of his insignificant posts, I don't think it's playing with a full deck, are you SUNSHINE? big grin
