Just caught the tail end of this story on sky news.
Boy was put to bed at 9pm last night and was gone when family got up this morning.

Last night, 3 year old Mikael Kular from Edinburgh went to bed at his parents house in the evening. The next morning he wasn't there and had vanished............

went to bed at 9pm and when they woke this morning he was not in his home

baffling....put to bed but description given hooded jacket and shoes

alarm raised by mother, police told approx. 7.45

a 3 yr old won't be very mobile or know how to look after himself

number of outcomes, the positive ones likely sooner rather than later

the more time passes, the more likely the negative outcomes.

police appeal for anyone who can remember seeing him yesterday evening

former Met detective on phone

relatives spoken to

should be air support and tracker dogs

house to house immediately

unlikely a 3 yr old has dressed himself and gone outdoors

forensics vital in case of an intruder

last movements and people to see him crucial

it will start at the home, where reportedly last seen

we await the tabloids comparing the local police actions with the PJ in 2007.

As far as I can see they are doing the same thing.

Let us hope that there is a good outcome for this vulnerable child if he has been outside for hours in the cold.

It is very worrying and not like an older child of eg. 8 leaving the house, who would know how to get to a friend's or relative's home and who indeed might have planned an adventure.

Fingers crossed it turns out well for little Mikael.

The Wright Stuff said it had echoes of Maddie. It is true. Put to bed, missing and reported missing by his mother, the news so far , not sure how accurate this is.

Former Met detective was speaking about police procedures and mentioned April Jones, not that he thought this was an abduction but that the police in Wales put in place some new procedures.

Mikael lived in a flat in a block in north Edinburgh, on a small quiet estate.

Well populated and police hope for some useful local info.

CCTV, Speed is of the essence.

WE HAVE SEEN TOO MANY CASES IN THE PAST WHERE DELAY HAS CAUSED SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES.

the place last seen is crucial

cases we remember

reporter.... many things are nipped in the bud and public never hear of them

notorious cases....April and Madeleine but we don't want to suggest this is like those..

reporter... turning us all into detectives is what the police want [?!]

the child has to be found quickly, every minute that passes the incident escalates in gravity.

reporter asking when airports and ports will be alerted?

if the police suspect abduction, the alerts will be put in place quickly, the art of this is to keep multiple plates spinning said the former ex Chief Super....he is repeatedly emphasising the time element.

and here we have it if only by implication

as we know there are other high profile cases [plural ] where as we know the police have not grasped it quickly enough.

sounds like a ref to Maddie imo but I am wondering which the others were..

maybe he is not ref Maddie, usually the critics are very clear when they criticise the PJ.

then I am really puzzled by what he is referring to,

DESCALING OF POLICE ACTIVITY AROUND HIS HOME.

No mention of the father or any man in the home so far...

The things that struck me about the circumstances around this case;

- Shoes and jacket seem to be missing, so someone has dressed the boy - which doesn't imply this was a random child abductor (the kind we are constantly reminded of by the McCanns)

- The mother is mentioned but not the father, so is it possible there is a father that disputes custody and has taken the boy? No break in has been mentioned so it could be some one that had access to the house.

Until further details are given, that's what I suspect. I sincerely hope it isn't a stranger.

ex cop : the family are of vital interest, STATISTICS TELL YOU THAT MOST CHILDREN WHO COME TO HARM,COME TO HARM FROM PEOPLE THEY KNOW.

It is a scenario that must be considered amongst others, he mentioned abduction by a family member of there has been dispute.

The initial burst of activity has decreased, only speculation that this is good news. The police might have decided to change the direction of their enquiries.

The police officer has said the police are speaking to all family members. She has advised that press do not read anything into decreasing activity, it means they are changing the focus of the investigation.
They send officers where they need to be.

His trousers and jacket were reported missing, they are following many lines of enquiry.
POLICE CONCERNED THAT HE COULD NOT DRESS AND LEAVE OF HIS OWN VOLITION GIVEN HIS AGE.

He does have a twin sister.

Father does not live there, and they want to speak to him.

WATCH THE FAMILY ! (Where have we heard that before ?)
Who else would take the brown shoes and the hooded jacket.
Let us hope the father is looking after him properly.

When my son was three got out of bed, snuck past our bedroom, climbed up a six foot tall kitchen unit to get the door key, put on his hat, scarf, coat and wellies and went out to play.

He'd never done anything like that before and we made damn sure he never did it again but don't ever underestimate what a determined three year old is capable of.

I just hope that however Mikaeel left his home last night, that he is quickly found safe and well.

I've just seen another update on Sky the Officer speaking to the press said there is no evidence of the little lad being with anybody - ergo no sign of criminality, could it be a way of saying they do not suspect an abduction?

I have no idea, obviously. But this child is a male and the twin is female.
In some cultures this makes a difference.
