The Sun did have a £25.000 reward.

News International (owner of SUN) 'offered' SIXTY (60) times that much for Madeleine's 'safe return'!

OT and just for information, the reward was 2.5 millions altogether.........

Madeleine reward rises to £2.5m

Rewards totalling £2.5m have been offered to anyone who can help with information leading to the safe return of Madeleine McCann.
The News of the World and businessmen including Sir Richard Branson have jointly pledged £1.5m. Scottish tycoon Stephen Winyard has offered £1m.

You'd think that newscasters would be bothered to pronounce places in UK correctly.

No wonder there's a bloody Scottish/Welsh/English/ divide when English newsreaders can't be arsed to know how to pronounce a place in UK. It was the same with April Jones, Machynlleth (Wales)...it's not difficult to learn how to pronounce it if you try or can be bothered.

@Upsy Daisy...yes it's definitely kirkawdee. Apologies for getting the wrong vowel to explain it phonetically. I have family in Edinburgh (what a beautiful and refined accent).

I was thinking that perhaps, since it has been suggested that Mikaeel was born at the Auntie's house, that this would be the place his body would be returned to. At least to the place he lived when he was born.

Yes aquila the Edinburgh accent is quite mild, compared with others, however a large percentage of the population also speak Scots, which is almost Scandinavian sounding. Sorry again mods for drifting.

Whilst I would agree on your thoughts something or someone led them there as I don't think they would have got to that specific spot without some guidance. It is possible I suppose that because they actually lived in that house at one point that it would be checked out.

Thinking about yes Hong kong, maybe the mother caved and told the police. If I was hiding a body I would worry the police would check all my families houses but then I read a lot on thesesites. Depends whether the body was found inside or in the woods.
Woods set up or stupidity. Inside the bungalow accidental death and hidden for the time being.

According to the Daily Mail a neighbour that lives opposite the family bungalow said she saw the mother (Rosdeep) on Tuesday or Wednesday morning:

'Olga Park, a retired nurse who lives opposite said she saw Mikaeel's mother arrive at the bungalow on either Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Rosdeep had lived there with her sister when she had her twins, Mrs Park said.'
"I'm just obsolutely shocked about what happened. The fact he's just a three-year-old boy is just terrible. The poor wee thing."

'Mrs Park, who has lived in the area for 30 years, said she knew the immediate neighbours but not the Kular family'

Further on in the news article it states:

'It has since emerged that Mikaeel was last seen at his nursery on the last day of term, December 19. Children returned on January 7. Mikaeel usually attended every weekday between 12:30pm and 3pm with his twin.

Mothers of children in their class confirmed last night that he had been absent before he was reported missing.
Michaela Roberts, 27, said Miss Kular took Ashika to the nursery on Wednesday morning, but Mikaeel was nowhere to be seen.'

So, the nursery haven't seen Mikaeel since December 19, the father of Mikaeel's 3 eldest siblings made the point that he didn't see Mikaeel when he picked his children up last weekend, it appears that Mikaeel's twin has been attending nursery as usual without any sight of Mikaeel in tow and the mother has been seen at the bungalow Tues or Weds.......

Just when did this poor little boy lose his life and why hasn't he been missed by anyone considering that Social Services have allegedly previously been involved with the Kular family?

My greatest concern is what the siblings are going through right now. It must be beyond horrendous for the poor things. Furthermore, I think that it is Mikaeel's siblings that hold the key information as to what happened to their baby brother. It just doesn't bear thinking about  sad1

I will always remember that board director of 'fund, John McCann, Gerry's brother said he  wanted the public to 'donate' to the 'fund' but NOT the reward.
Now i'm not saying that the reward 'offerers' were told or knew they wouldn't have to pay out a penny, in reward money, but very weird, the big 'backers' didn't put their big money (or indeed any?) DIRECTLY into the McCanns 'spend how we want --'private' fund'!

ONLY the gullies were asked to donate to their private 'fund' not the Zlebs!

But the Zlebs got all their names and kudos in the press without having to stump up a single penny!

Good publicity for them, innit?

What does anybody think on this?

Just pointed out my Candyfloss that Rosdeep has only currently been detained and not arrested so my post below has got way ahead of developments. It should read, IF Rosdeep is responsible for the disappearance of her son -

I think she has wanted to bury him somewhere close to her family and not in an isolated place. In terms of not being found out I don't think she has been thinking very clearly, look at the illogical story she has tried to get the police to accept, this may indicate how distraught she is and that she is not completely callous. If the rest of her family were not involved then I expect this would have been a terrible secret to carry alone.

Perhaps part of her decision (if she is responsible for what has happened) not to own up immediately was because of how it would affect her other children and wider family, similar concerns of the McCanns I expect (if indeed the McCanns have always known what happened to their daughter) It's interesting IMO that Rosdeep has been described as distaught by the police, yet obviously now it is starting to look as though was very upset for a completely different reason than that she did not know her child's whereabouts.

It's possible that Rosdeep, (if responsible for her son's disappearance) would have a very good impression of whether the McCanns were telling the truth or not because she may have been through very similiar thought processes and reactions herself over the last few days. On the other hand, if Mm were abducted as the McCanns claim then presumably she would not identify with them at all.

Just hold fire a bit, according to reports she has been detained, not arrested, so we do not know who is responsible yet.

Oh, the irony.  Do the McCann family and relatives live on another planet to the rest of us.

Does Philomena know that the "Find Madeleine Fund" or "Not Find Madeleine Fund" as I call it, covers costs for the wider family.  Does Philomena regard that as being "greedy" or not, when pensioners and school children have contributed to the "so called Fund".

I would really like to hear her opinion, but I would waiting a very long time for that to happen.

Why would a "fund" for a missing child have to be used for "costs for the wider family".

If I wasn't so cynical I would say it was more of a pension/saving fund for the wider family in their old age, IMO of course.

I'm just catching up on the forum but when the news broke late last night it was stated that "from information received it had led them to search the woods".  I can't remember if it was Sky News or the BBC News now.

ETA: It did show people searching in the woods as you see on the news today (people in yellow with sticks searching undergrowth) but it didn't show the bungalow or garden as far as I can remember.

Newintown, quote regarding the MM fund ''Why would a "fund" for a missing child have to be used for "costs for the wider family?''

You could perhaps understand why a family with a low income might need additional financial assistance to help during a crisis like this but you certainly wouldn't expect a cardiologist and an ex Gp to have to dip into the fund very often would you with their wages / savings?
