That black bootpolish has given him quite a sinister hairline.
Fairly modest wedding reception going by the chairs at the venue.
My (limited) sense of UK bridal wear fashions of the 1990's would put this frock at early to mid 90s.

As well as a rectangular strip across the forehead, the proud husband of our Dr Kate Healy seems to have developed a wonky right eye.
Mr & Mrs giving us a slow perpetual wink?

Kate's earings? Double pearl in the top shot, single in the bottom?

Yup, that's exactly right. Why would that be? Is it a peculiar McCann tradition that earrings don't match at weddings...?

Yes I did notice that (honest!) - is it the light shining on a gold bit at the top on the 'single' one? Or is her hair covering up the top bit of the 'double' one?canada12 wrote:Nina wrote:j.rob wrote:It's competition time folks! Prize for spotting one obvious difference between top and bottom photo?! ETA: looking at the wedding photo in the bewk (next to p.145) then it is clearly a double pearl on her left hand side, same as the above photos.
I have always had my doubts about the 'wedding' - wld be interesting to do a bit more reseach on it - I know the wedding certificate has been unearthed, and we have the sporran photo in the bewk :bad: but little else and yes. It does have a very scant mention in the text, just a few almost dismissive lines. Not really what you would expect from the someone with KH's apparent tendancies on her big day.
All in my own opinion, nothing stated as fact

Difficult to say. Here are enlargements of both earrings. You decide.

What first struck me when I saw this photograph again?
Kate is wearing only one chain, one pendant.
What a meek and sexless grey hoodie she's wearing.
Her neck muscles are a story unto themselves...

Mrs McCann is now sporting two silver chains.
Necessary for the conglomeration of pendants she now wears.
That delicately patterned, 'sensitive man' shirt makes Gerry look even more hungover and cross.
Ps. Check out Gerry's 'Six Million Dollar Man' eye on the previous picture!

Modesty and weddings...
The officiating priest, the sporty (tennis with Gerry and others) Father Paul Seddon - he was given as a thank you, a set of golf clubs, from St Andrew's, no less...
Quite a statement.

Kate's got the darkest hair I've ever seen her pictured with, at her wedding. Mousy, even.
In the top photograph, her hand seems to be chopped and reattached at the wrist. Strange glassy blurred background at the side edges of the picture.
On the bottom - check out those knuckles!
I think that what looks like a glassy background is actually light reflected off the surface of the photo. They were married in 1998, which was before digital cameras were in use, and they probably had to scan actual photos from their wedding for inclusion in the book. It's possible they even just took photos of the wedding photos and put those in the book. You can see some of the same effect right near Kate's mouth too, sort of going out horizontally over her veil on that side of her head.

Agreed...married in 2002 here and my dress was very similar to Kate's.

It looks to me as if the wee one found time to apply a fresh coat of boot black to his hair prior to making his debut on the world stage, missbeetle.
This was the performance on 4 May 2007 which convinced me that this couple were complicit in the disappearance of their daughter and I've seen no reason to alter my opinion during the intervening years.

Re: Kate's Mates
Thanks for enlarging them Canada. It does look like a reflection in the top photo but not sure of what. The earring in the bottom looks bigger compared to her ear, they don't quite look the same but again that could be the light, defective photo processing etc.canada12 wrote:BlackCatBoogie wrote:Yes I did notice that (honest!) - is it the light shining on a gold bit at the top?canada12 wrote:Nina wrote:j.rob wrote:It's competition time folks! I think the fuzzy patches at the back either side of them is a patterned glass door - the kind you get in bathrooms etc.
Out of all the pictures the wedding photos look the most normal and undoctored to me. But of course this was before MBM.
All in my own opinion, nothing stated as fact.

It's an dad choice of photo to include in the book as it presumably is'nt an 'official' wedding photo judging by the background with harassed waitress etc... Odd. Why not just include an official cheesy one?

Re: Kate's Mates
It just doesn't really look like a wedding, IMO. Given that It is a white wedding, judging by Kate's dress, you would expect the one photo chosen for the book to be some kind of 'line up' photo... May be a few with family or best man. They look as though they found themselves transposed into a local dinner/dance in aid of some charity. Or perhaps the annual dinner of some committee/organisation.

What about it being a communion photo? Of that baby perhaps? Or of KH or GM - do adults do communion?j.rob wrote:It just doesn't really look like a wedding, IMO. The younger KH and friend in the photos a few pages back have got veils and white dresses on like bridesmaids -and it is titled communion - aren't they supposed to be brides of christ or summat daft like that. Could it be a RC religious ceremony that they were in or attending?
Sorry don't mean to sound so blase - I have no idea what RC do or celebrate.
All in my own opinion.

probably of the horror theme judging by that sporran pity we can't see the rest of the people in the photo.candyfloss wrote:BlackCatBoogie wrote:What about it being a communion photo? I think you have to cover yourself including your arms for communion, maybe someone will come along and enlighten me later.
