Yet another reason why the investigation needs to be reopened and the Mccanns and their mates hauled back for proper questionning starting with why so many discrepancies in their statements.

He seems pretty sure that Jane Tanner never left the table that night. He worked undercover and obviously got his info from pretty reliable people in order to make that statement. He says it quite emphatically. Are there any witness testimonies from the staff that could shed any light on this? Have some statements been held back. If I recall, one of the staff was so scared he did a runner. Been trying to find this article, and will keep looking. If anyone can help?

I think that if some Tapas staff said that Jane didn't left the table that night it can only mean that no woman from the group left the table (apart from Kate to raise the alarm). How could the "source" know that specifically Jane didn't left the table? Yes she's brunette but so was Rachel Oldfield at the time. The Tapas staff were surely busy serving the guests and not taking notes on who left the table at what time. So whoever Mr. Joseph source was, it goes along with Jez statement that he didn't saw Jane Tanner whilst talking to Gerry.

I don't actually think he meant it as a fact 'she never left the table that night' and it can be proved by other witness statements, but more along the lines of 'the chances are she never left the table that night', or 'the evidence she gave isn't true, she wasn't there'.

THE key witness in the missing Madeleine McCann case was in hiding last night after fleeing Portugal.
Police have sworn the waiter to secrecy over his vital testimony and know where he is.
But friends say he is terrified his identity is about to be revealed and that he will come under pressure from rival factions in the case.
He is scared of British and Portuguese government influence in the probe. Friends claim he is also wary of the team of private eyes hired by Kate and Gerry McCann to help find their daughter.
The mother of expat British estate agent Robert Murat – the only other suspect in the case – has accused investigators of bribing witnesses into changing their stories.

The tapas bar waiter – described by police as their “trump card” – has given what detectives believe is the most reliable account of what happened the night the four-year-old vanished. They have questioned him three times, most recently last week.
Officers say his story can prove Madeleine’s parents are lying over her disappearance. Many of the 100 questions officers want to ask the McCanns and their holiday friends – the so-called Tapas Nine – are thought to be based on his information. But, according to former colleagues at the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz, the knowledge he is playing such a vital role in the case that has gripped the world has horrified him.
One said: “He does not want to be involved in any of this. He was just a restaurant worker. His only problem was remembering food orders. He’s terrified.”
The waiter was the only resort worker to see Kate, 39, raise the alarm after apparently discovering her daughter missing just after 10pm on May 3. She insisted she ran into the tapas bar where her husband Gerry, 39, and their friends were eating and screamed: “Madeleine’s gone. Madeleine’s gone.”
But the waiter is understood to have told police Kate raised the alarm from the apartment balcony 75 yards away, screaming: “They’ve taken her. They’ve taken her.’’
Detectives want to know why she assumed so quickly her daughter had been abducted – and not simply wandered off to look for her parents.
Police value the waiter’s account because they cannot understand why – if Kate thought Madeleine had been snatched while unattended – she would then leave her twins Sean and Amelie in the apartment to run back to the tapas bar.

First time I've seen the video, could this witness be the one who GA wanted to bring back before he was removed from the case?

But the twins weren't 'alone' were they?

JT, imo, was keeping a very beady eye on the 'staged' apartment to make sure a REAL 'abductor' didn't get 'in'

That's how KM was able to leave the twins in 'situ' and go to Tapas bar.

I think MO might have set the 'scene' at 9:35.

Otherwise when JW walked PASSED the apartment, with the raised shutter and wide open window, what's to say he wouldn't have raised the 'alarm' at that time? (9-20ish)

How could they RISK JW 'seeing' the open shutter and open window and raising the 'alarm'?

They COULDN'T!

They had to stick to a rigid 'script' and a JW 'intervention' wouldn't have been part of THAT!

Imo, the shutter was DOWN when JW walked passed!

15 minutes AFTER JW had 'gone, 9:35pm Oldfield went into apartment., with O'B now in 'place' until JT got there, and imo, raised the shutter using the cord inside the room and opened the window before drawing the curtains together in the room.

There was a Tapas 'member, at the apartments every single minute after MO's 'non check' (keeping eye on the now raised shutters and opened window)

O'Brien then Tanner.

Lets hope this waiter has been able to give an accurate description of what the MC'S were wearing that evening.

Are there any details on this subject?

Excellent account!

Also explains why they had to make up the 'someone was ill every night' story just in case someone mentioned that every night one of the party was not sat at the table.  Those children were never ever left alone at night and someone took it in turns to stay with them, either all together in one room or close by in the neighbouring apartment so that they could listen in with the moniter which IMO stayed with the sitter and then they could get to them very quickly should one of them wake up or there was an emergency.

Talking of CCTV footage, at the moment I am trying to find reports about CCTV for the evening 3rd May, in doing so I came across this from the manager of the Paraiso restaurant, he said that the McCann family were on the beach at 5.00 pm on the 3rd, the father dancing with his daughter on the sand while the family ate on the terrace. Apparently he has handed over CCTV footage to prove it and the PJ have it as evidence. I would have said that this man must have been mistaken, however, if he really did hand over this footage well.......

Wasn't Kate seen jogging alone at 17.25 by JT?

Wasn't Gerry supposed to be playing tennis at that time?

The McCanns weren't 'invited' i believe.

But what if this manager really did hand over CCTV footage of the McCann's at his restaurant at 17.00 on the 3rd?

Why is nothing ever straight forward in this case!

Thanks NFWTD, not seen those before.

On 8 October 2007, I, Joao Carlos, Inspector, proceeded to the attachment of 14 (fourteen) printed pictures derived from images recovered from the CCTV system of a restaurant known as "Restaurante Para?o", situated in Praia da Luz, Lagos, corresponding to the day of the events, 3 May 2007, in the period understood to be between 17h31 and 18h36.
In those pictures we can see [adult] members of the group, a total of seven in number, excepting for [with the exception of] the McCann family.

(My bold)  Wonder if the PJ have the CCTV images from 18.36 onwards and with held them from release?

Strikes me there is no room for two others at that table anyway - the McCs would have had to stand up [and possibly spill their drinks!]
Do we know who the person sitting on ROB's left is- he looks younger than the rest of the group -teenaged maybe?

Back to my 'reference book' - the McCs didn't go to the Paraiso that night.  KM  "finished [her] run by 5.30 at the Tapas area, where [she] found Madeleine and the twins already having their tea with Gerry. The others had decided to feed their kids at the beachside restaurant, the Paraiso."

Later Gerry was meeting DP, ROB and MO at 6pm for the men's social tennis night, at 6pm.

She also, miraculously, signed Madeleine out of the creche at 5:30.

Which was it Kate ?
In the book, to re-inforce the picture, she makes it clear that no one else was there, because they were all somewhere else, blah blah.
Emphasising, in case we had not got it, that there were no independent witnesses to Madeleine being there, or even alive, at 5:30.
