The 'old news' strategy is PR device that the team have been trying out. Probably in case of the libel going badly. They can say that all GA's theories are "old news"; the dogs are "old news". And that the "new news" that counts is all about Tractormen / Burglars / Employees with keys. But as you say "old facts" vs "new speculation" might be a better description.

I don't know what the going rate is Doug, but it certainly seems to be a rapidly expanding industry. I haven't looked closely at the case of Oscar Pistorius, but I believe there is a campaign already underway to defend his image, as there was for Casey Anthony.

In my opinion there is no doubt that the McCanns 'buy' likes on Facebook. For example, OFM posts begin with 2,000, 3000 or even 5,000 likes then only one or two in the days thereafter. There was a documentary on television last year, that exposed the 'likes' industry - there literally are people in third world sweat shops liking the Facebook pages of celebrities and wannabes, to give the impression they have lots of support.

Whether the very few remaining trolls on twitter are paid 'shills' remains to be seen. These are austere times, and those having sold their grandmothers, will take on work in any profession, no matter how grubby. Traditional jobs are rapidly disappearing as more 'work' is done online, there are now lawyers specialising solely in internet crime, as indeed, Scotland Yard have their own specialists.

I'm a huge fan of 'The Thick of It' (UK political satire), it gives a real insight into what goes on behind government doors, and an insight into the former life of Clarence Mitchell, I suspect. Watching 'The Thick of It' in conjunction with watching the McCanns is quite an enlightening experience and explains quite a lot.

Meant to add on my post about shills, that Jayelles is a veteran of these sensational cases, in that she was vehemently against the parents in the Jonbenet Ramsey murder. In this case she is defending the parents, and she has come to it with extensive knowledge of how the 'game' works, her experience would look good on a Shill CV and she's a grafter. Madeleine's disappearance itself is "old news": it happened nearly seven years ago. However, a court decision on the contents of Amaral's book – in a case brought about by Kate and Gerry McCann themselves – is due any day now. Which makes all Amaral's theories "current news" however unpalateable that may be for some people.

Why would anyone need to "out you". You have the guts to let everyone know who you are. More than can be said for Scum Cop, Basil Fawlty or whatever she calls herself, TJ and too many to name here. But what's fascinating to watch is, when it wants to use disgusting language, about the "bloody" or blaspheme, she uses her other socks, and depending on which one it is, the filthy language can go all the way up to the "C" word.

But on another matter, one can see how thick and uneducated this out of work window cleaner's wife is. She thinks that Wikipedia is "mostly myth". She really needs to keep up with events. It has long been established that Wikipedia, despite its earlier teething problems, has now overtaken Encyclopedia Britannica for accuracy.
