How reliable is Debbie Butler as a source? Does she live close by? I have to admit, although I know she was once involved with the Madeleine Foundation, most of that period of time has passed me by. These latest news reports are frustrating because they don't just get directly to the point, dealt with and sorted once and for all. These tit-bits of information are looking like something major will be announced very soon.

This is all a little bizarre. This HEADLINE news, that topped yesterdays stories on the 24 hour news channels and has made front pages today is in fact, on face-value, a complete NON-news story.

There is nothing specific being reported. Maddie may (or may not) be alive. That's not news.
Several persons of interest need re-interviewing. That's not news either.

The media have twisted HC's words to make a non-news story into a headline.

BUT WHY? And WHY would Mr. Brunt be in Portugal to cover this non-news? A complete waste of time and money, unless....

Are the press just warming up, prepping the public and reminding them of the case, ready for the REAL news story to come?

On its own, yesterday's and today's headlines are meaningless. BUT, in the context of recent happenings, maybe not so meaningless.

Kate and Gerry looking davastated for the first and only time since arguido day
+ Murat's front page, "Bring them all back"
+ Kate's solitary return to apartment 5A in PDL
+ Sudden breaking "non-news", mentioning a "small group" of interest and possible new "forensic opportunities"
+ Brunty being in Portugal...

= ... something significant in the pipeline?

Very confusing. Martin Brunt has said the 'suspects' are foreign, ie, not British. That rules out the McCanns and Tapas.

The above would imply whitewash, but why is Brunt in PDL, and why aren't McCanns at their gate with Clarence, rejoicing at the news and and praying and lighting candles?

Surely martin brunt is not in Portugal just to tell us that the suspects are foreign,he could have done that from the studio.

In my opinion announcing that they know they know who abductors are would put a live hostage at risk, it implies to me that they do not think Madeleine is alive.

Anyone who has seen what is contained within the PJ files KNOWS that a vast amount of diligencies were carried out, the McCanns treated every sighting in the immediate time following May 2007 as a complete inconvenience when they were busy travelling around Europe, and they and their friends refused to provide consistent statements or do the reconstruction - is it any wonder that the Portugese have had enough of the whole thing, particularly when the Portugese taxpayers spent millions of THEIR public money trying to investigate a "crime" against a constant barrage of insults, critique and obstruction?

If I were the head of the Portugese police I'd tell the Mc's to b**ger off.

Remember recently Kate in PdL, seen with Mother Hubbard:

Seen exiting the Batista supermarket cafe together, allegedly after being recognised there.

Why did they go there in the first place? Why not to the much more secluded Ocean Club (or even the former Tapas?)

Could it be that Kate was in the immediate vicinity of the appartment, invited to help the PJ/SY taking a closer look at the apartment?

That Hubbard and KH were awaiting the arrival of the police, or that they were there, taking a breather after helping the police with their enquiries?

The forum buzzed about the way KH was dressed: she looked a wreck, unkempt, as if beyond all care.

What could have brought that about?

And where was good doctor GM while his wife was facing possible arrest by the PJ under the direction of SY's recent findings?

Why did he let her go and face the music alone?

The morning after SYs report is spinning gone mad.....Every newspaper,every reporter, every ex detective that crawls out of the woodwork are saying the McCanns are innocent and its Portugal's fault but it all seems to have a pinky hue about it.

Clarry at his best once again,confusion is good,he's bounced back after the initial shock of (No comment).

I hope something is happening at long last and remain faithful to SY (for now) to help bring the perpetrators to task !!!

What is clear is that SY did (want to) put the ball in the Portuguese court. That means they have nothing, absolutely nothing. If you see what they have officially announced to the world (she might be dead, she might be alive etc, 190 leads: well that shrunk down to 20 fast) it is clear if they really had something substantial they would have screamed it from the rooftops.
They know the only conclusion is the conclusion from the PJ: the parents could not be cleared. They can't say that, so now they leave it up to the Portuguese judiciary to do that.

And yes I have no doubt that these announcement have come now to set a new stage for the Amaral trial.

I am disgusted, not surprised because I suspected a whitewash from the beginning, but disgusted how far people will go to save face.

As the days go on more and more information will trickle out. I wouldn't be at all surprised if these people of interest turn out to be those cleaners reported a while back, the ones in the Transit. They may have names for them now as they were clearly trying to trace them.

I am sorry but the chances of this not being a SY Whitewash have shrunk severely. If they suspected any of them there that night they wouldn't be sending the PJ on a wild goose chase with these latest names. SY do not need the PJ for any suspect in the UK so they must be looking for people living out there. Seeing that everyone that night fled to the UK bar Murat, then these must be new people.

We all know why they don't want to reopen a can of worms in Portugal but they have to be seen to want it hence the comment.
It's the usual rubbish. Any solution to the case would either kill the McCann's money making machine or at worst put them in prison. Of course they will never ask for a re-opening of the case. All they have to do is ask in writing.
Hey, here's a radical idea. All that money to aid the search. How about offering to give some to the police to actually do some more searching? Or why not put up a huge reward, something to tempt her "Abductor" to hand her over?
You can fool some of the people some of the time...................

Just been reading in the sun that the list of suspects or people of interest were already on file. Some are believed to be British, but living in Portugal. This evidence has arisen from the review of the files compiled by the PJ and the private investigation team.

So these names are not exactly new, they are ones picked out of files.
