Cuddle Cat is here to tell her story Empty Cuddle Cat is here to tell her story

Post by Guest 29.11.13 21:54

Hi, it's the real Cuddle Cat here, the one you've seen on 1,001 TV pictures and press photos.

In betweeen cat-naps, I'll be sharing my story with you all, never before told in full.

Right the way from my emergence from the Cuddle Cat factory, through to visiting all those cadavers with Kate in Leicestershire in April 2007, to the worst moment of my life, gripped in the jaws of Eddie the barking mad dog (I've never liked dogs) for a few terrifying seconds before being tossed in the air like a soft toy.

Only eight lives left now.

And along the way, I'll be answering all those intriguing questions - like:

- did the abductor place me on a high shelf? and

- why did I suffer the indignity of being washed and then tumble dried - until I was dizzy for days?

Mi-aa-oo-ooooow.

I'm tired now.

Have you given a full statement to the PJ or MET yet, because if you haven't you are guilty of perverting the course of justice by withholding information which could have helped the McCs these last 6 years. Your testimony could be the only one that can unravel this case since it comes straight from the horse's cat's mouth. big grin

Come off it, bobbin. I may be about to give my life story here on CMOMM - exclusively I might add - but, really, whoever heard of a cat making a sworn witness statement?

Besides, has ANYONE given more to the investigation than me?

My head nearly bitten off by THAT DOG!

Anyway, back to the beginning.

I left the factory. For a while I was on display in a Liverpool shop.

Looking for someone to buy me as a nice cuddly toy for a child.

And then!

In walks Jon Corner, looking for a present for one Madeleine Beth McCann.

He took me home, wrapped me up...and then, with Madeleine only a few days old, as Madeleine's mother writes on page 69 of her book, I was safely in my new home in Queniborough, north Leicesteshire.

"Cuddle Cat", she wrote: was "a soft toy she'd been given soon after she was born and never went to bed without".

Not only a brand new home, but with TWO doctors!

Later, I moved to a FIVE-bedroomed house at The Crescent, Rothley. I felt massively privileged.

Madeleine took to me straightaway - and she and I became special friends, as you can see on this first picture of me on Pamalam's site:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Indeed, that wonderful lady Pamalam has moreorless set out my life history on that page, which will help me recall all those strange events that befell me, starting with that wet November day when Kate stuffed me in her handbag and took me to work, all the way to her surgery in Melton Mowbray. I'll tell you more about that another time.

Just a little note to AskTheDogsSandra. You're right, that blasted dog frightened the life out of me with his incessant yapping. But one thing I'd like to ask him is: did you really have to go the extra mile and toss me unceremoniously into mid-air? Did Martin Grime train you to do THAT??!!

Finally, here's a little puzzle for those of you following my autobiography.

Why did Eddie alert to me - but not to my bed in Apartment 5A?

Hi Angelique,

Tell me about it!

Do you remember those 40 replicas of me bought by Francisco Marco, boss of Metodo 3?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

"Metodo 3, whose contract expires in March, has 40 investigators working on the case, here and in Portugal and Spain.

Each has a replica of Cuddle Cat, Madeleine's favourite toy, which they are encouraged to squeeze when they feel demotivated at the size of their task.

Repeated requests by reporters to witness the agency's team in Morocco at work have been turned down".

Of course, you might think they are all 'replicas' of one original Cuddle Cat, or 'duplers'.

Some people say the Chinese all look alike - to Western eyes. But of course they are all different!

It's the same with us Cuddle Cats. We may all LOOK alike, but I can assure you, every one of us is an individual.

But there's no other Cuddle Cat in the world that has been so famous! Why, at one time, I even had my own website: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I wonder whatever happened to that?

By the way, I want to whisper something to you all about that Metodo 3 story above. Pssst! I don't think it's true.

For a start, did Metodo 3 really, really have 40 detectives working on tracing Madeleine? I don't think so.

Is it credible that the boss of a private investigation agency would pop out to a department store in Barcelona and order 40 of us? It probably cost him about 1,000 euros. And can you visualise Mr Marco at a staff meeting saying: "Here you are lads, one for each of you. Keep it on your desk, take it with you wheresoever you go, take it home, and squeeze it every time you get downhearted".

I want to say something else.

It's been said: 'Dogs don't lie'. They may be out-and-out dangerous ruffians, and should ALWAYS be on a lead. But it's true, they don't lie.

And I want you to know that NEITHER DO CATS.

Nor in fact does any animal.

ONLY HUMANS LIE.

And I call Francisco Marco one of the biggest liars in Spain.

I hear he's in jail now, awaiting trial for illegally taping politicians' private telephone conversations.

Serve him right!

And what did he achieve for Madeleine?

I look forward to hearing the truth from the horse's mouth - sorry, the cat's.

My question is - since it's claimed that you were a part of Madeleine's life from a very young age - why are there no photos whatever of you to support this, apart from one baby photo with a pink toy which could be something else.

You will appreciate I'm sure that the credentials of anyone in this case have to be checked as there are a lot of dodgy people out there!

I suppose you mean this photograph of me?

It's a real cute one, isn't it?

You can at least see my tail and one of my ears.

I really like it.

You'll also find it between pages 120 and 121 of that book that Madeleine's Mum wrote. Given my importance in Praia da Luz, though, I'm disappointed I didn't make the index of the book at the back - not even under the entry: 'McCann - Madeleine Beth - sleep routine'.

I'm not sure how old Madeleine was in the above photo? About 18 months to two years? - that would mean it was taken about early 2005, about the same time Amelie and Sean came along.

So, to answer your question, I don't know why I don't feature on more photos. Maybe it's because Madeleine mostly cuddled me at night-time. And Madeleine's Mum didn't take many photos of her at night-time.

If you can find any more photos of me taken before that holiday in Praia da Luz, please let me know!

I'd love to see them.

I think the first time I was ever seen by the public was when Kate used me to cover up her face as she appealed for the abductor to give back Madeleine.

From then on, my, it was manic!

Very much the reverse!

Usually, a soft toy like me only ever gets to see the inside of a house, left alone for long periods and then maybe just played with for a few minutes - the main thing I looked forward to was bedtime.

But, wow! All of a sudden I am meeting new people, seeing new places.

I'm looking forward to telling you all about it.

But be patient.

And just look what a following I gained.

A website of my own!

40 copies of me for Metodo 3's fleet of detectives (or so they said).

And I set a precedent when Karen Matthews used her own soft toy to appeal for her 'lost' daughter, Shannon.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Except that in that case, her daughter wasn't really lost.

She was forced to hide under a bed for days while Karen and her partner tried to make some money out of her.

Disgraceful - pretending your daughter is lost - when she isn't!

Now we don't want to libel Karen Matthews' ex-partner, that pillar of the community Craig Meehan - if I've remembered his name correctly.

It was his uncle who was involved in the scam. As far as is known, Craig wasn't. He was convicted of possessing unrelated child porn on his computer.

How awful.

How to wash a cat

This was simply too much of a timesaver not to share it with you.

1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl...

 2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

3. In one smooth movement put the cat in the toilet and close the lid. You may need to stand on the lid.

4. At this point the cat will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this!

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a 'Power-Wash' and 'Rinse'.

6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.

7. Stand well back, behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift the lid.
8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.

9. Both the toilet and the cat will be sparkling clean.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Yours Sincerely,

The Dog

I was just about to ask how you felt in the washing machine.

What was it that Kate could smell, was it really all that suntan lotion and sand ?

What had you been doing to get into such a state.

The washing machine?

Awful.

But I know that once in a lifetime any soft toy may get around to being washed.

The moment I was tossed into the laundry basket, I knew just what was coming. But I was bright and fresh after that.

Did I have 'suntan lotion and sand' on me?

Well, think about it. When I dry out, like all cats and dogs, I can just shake myself off and things like sand and dust and dried mud will just fall off.

So, sand? - No.

Sun tan lotion?

Maybe a bit.

Of course, I was washed twice, once on 8th May 2007, and once again in July 2007. I shall write more about this in my memoirs, as I tell my story from 28 April 2007 onwards. I will say more about this when I get to those episodes.

What I will say is that by the time we get to July, I have been tightly clutched by Madeleine's mother for hours and hours, day after day, in the hot Mediterranean sunshine, and moved in and out of various handbags  - in, out, clutched, back in, out, clutched, back in etc. etc.

So I had quite a lot of Kate's sweat all over me.

And how many bags did you see me in? - quite a variety, eh?

I'll just say this. I think most of Madeleine's DNA was washed away on my first rinse cycle.

But the funny smell lingered. It wasn't the smell of san tan lotion.

But I won't say more just yet.

It would be like letting the cat out of the bag.

If you see what I mean
