Eddie and Keela will be played by pooch/mutt/street dog (Clarrie's all for saving those recently).

Mrs Fenn will be depicted as a poor old soul with dementia (Mrs Fenn's landline phone call record is useful though isn't it?)

It's panto time.
Quite frankly if they plan on sticking to the 'official' McCann/T7 statements/versions then they might as well do it in CGI using characters from Monsters Inc as that's about as realistic as it's going to get! winkwink
The group MUST change their statements in order for a coherent reconstruction to be attempted. MUST!

I don't see how they can depict Mrs Fenn as anything other than what she was or her surviving relatives might have something to say.  This is yet another problem for a whitewash, as they then have to dismiss many other witness statements, which probably wouldn't go down too well.  And they do still have Jeremy Wilkins as a sticking point, I don't think he'll gladly leave himself open to being a forgetful and unreliable witness of events as portrayed in the McCanns mockumentary depiction, where Gerry insisted he had done the opposite of what really happened and Jane Tanner ended up in tears

Yes they did but they got their friends and family to castigate the PJ on their behalf - not a word out of them now though.

I have to remain optimistic and can't help thinking that SY are working closely with the PJ and possibly GA.  GA asked for the hearing to be done in private (IMO) knowing full well the McCanns would argue against it.  SY told them not to go to the hearing for media reasons (IMO) knowing full they wouldn't be able to stay away.  The case appears to be going very badly for the McCanns and there appears to be very little public sympathy left for them. Now suddenly we have that moment that we have all been waiting for the moment when G & K have to sit next to detectives, like every other parent/s whose child has gone missing, and speak.  It may all be well rehearsed and off autocue but I do not believe that the response will be the one they are hoping for.  I think, as someone else said earlier, the switchboards will light up and go into overload and not with people calling about possible sightings.
I truly hope that SY have far more up their sleeves than they are letting on, leading the McCanns and their group of holiday friends into a false sense of security.
Oh and as it has been bought up that SY are investigating the theory it is a Portuguese Paedo ring that took her - well remember the Gasper statement and the fact that most of these people have been to Portugal before - add Mr RM to the mix along with his mate who had dodgy findings on his computer then it all adds up to a Portugese Paedo ring.  Off course all IMO!
There is just no way on this planet any police force can ignore the truth - not when it is as glaringly obvious to the whole world as this case is. IMO

Truthandjustice wrote:A reconstruction without the original people is pointless in this case and any policeman worth his salt would know it.  In a true investigation, the police need to see in real time the reactions and explanations of those involved when their stated timeline/positioning turns out to be impossible.  Unfortunately I fear this will prove to be another PR exercise for the Mcs who can later say 'we have done the reconstruction'.
I can't be optimistic because the Met state they do not consider Mcs as suspects, I really don't think the Met are that clever in terms of this whole palaver being a sting operation on the Mcs.  They have stated that their new perspective includes 'evidence' gathered by Private Investigators -who were in the pay of said suspects in the case.  This is a whitewash and it's a real shame that none of this will ever be made public like the PJ files (I actually think the Portuguese justice system is superior in that respect).
I think they are keeping the heat of Kate and Gerry by saying they are not suspects.  Has there ever been a case in the UK or indeed anywhere in the world, where detectives have declared the main protagonists as 'not suspects'? Its quite an odd thing to do, especially as the investigation is ongoing and could potentially lead anywhere.

If anyone involved in the cover up, and who knows how many that might be, crack at any time in the future, the whole house of cards will come tumbling down.  As some of us already know, there are people in the inner circle, and indeed on the periphery, of this case who will go to any lengths to protect whatever the hell it is they are protecting.  Many of these proactive supporters are very unstable, so much so, that I even fear for the McCanns themselves.  The magnitude of what has gone on, to cover up the disappearance of this child, cannot be underestimated.

Prime Ministers like to leave a legacy, and putting right the wrongs of a former Prime Minister would contribute to that. As it stands, any blame for things that have gone wrong in this case can be laid at the door of Gordon Brown.   Just as we are uncovering things with our individual expertise of this case, so too are the detectives with their greater access to ALL of the details that we are not privy to.

I could of course be completely wrong, and we are at War (of the media kind) with the Portuguese.  How dare you victimise our stricken British citizens - we won the war you know!  Pip pip.  The good Beeb, (BBC) are putting out a special edition of Crimewatch, that will go out to at least another 4 countries that will prove beyond doubt, that the McCanns are caring parents who deserve our love and (financial) support.

the McCanns refused to make a reconstruction, unless the PJ would broadcast it, to help finding Madeleine.
they knew that police never broadcast reconstructions.
I wonder if they told that to the Yard, "no use" and the Yard said:
"Don't worry. We will help Madeleine. Come to Algarve with your friends, we make a reconstruction and I promise you to broadcast it on Crimewatch. We will make an exception for your daughter . Come now because the next Crimewatch will be on the 14th. We got to find her".

Maconi, I don't think the McCann's, or any of their acquaintances, have a say, now that SY is involved. They now have to play by someone else#s rules, and I can't imagine that it's going down too well. But, let's wait and see.

And your English is exemplary, by the way. drinks

Oh Lordie Lordie Lord, when was the last time the public get shown the Nerve Centre of an All- Important-Investigation with its Chief DCI posing in smart suit in his state-of-art incident room?

And here I was always imagining investigators in their casuals, sweltering in bare minimum basic office with papers piled all over desks and floor all the way up to the ceiling.

Oh, well, at least we know now where Redwood will be making his routine calls from.

Redwood: Hello Mr Mcdodado? Tis Inspector Redwood, we've information you were in PDL at the Mark Warner Resort on 3rd May 2007? Is that correct?

Mcdodado: spector who? deadwho?

Redwood: Redwood, Metropolitan Police working on Madeleine Mccann case....

Mcdodado : Hmmm..It's been so long, can't remember.....why do you ask?

Redwood : 'cos we would like to know if you.err....did you see any...?

Mcdodado : Oh FO, she's dead.

Line went dead.

I believe that the MET has to be extremely careful in this case. It's a high-profile case, and the welfare of the McCann's and their friends and family are the top priority at the moment, whether they have something to hide, or not. While all on this forum appear to be intelligent, level-headed people, it's not the case throughout the country. There are some nutters out there, and any suggestion by SY that the McCann's or any of the T9 are involved, God knows what could happen. So, let's all keep a quiet logic, and see how things unfold. I, for one, would hate to see anything bad happen to the McCann's. Despite all that has gone before, I have felt a deep sympathy for what has befallen them. I genuinely believe that they were/are heartbroken after losing their precious daughter. It is a parents' worst nightmare, but that doesn't prevent me from thinking that they KNOW what happened.

I've breathlessly been speed-reading since lunchtime. The one time I log-in late there's a flurry of news and discussion on the fora ... Still  approx. 20 pages behind. Is there a recap of the discussion possible?

BTW I cannot vote in the poll, as none of the possibilities mirrors my own idea/impression.
I would definitely not vote 2 or 3, but I cannot vote 1 either. If it would have asking if I have hope that SY [and PJ] may be able to solve this case, that would have made it easier ...

Didn't they say that in 2007 about the PJ?  Remember how that turned out
One wonders why is it SO important for MET to constantly shove it down people throats about the wonderful bond/relationship between them and the Mccanns?

How does it make a difference to the quality of the investigation or end result of it?

Possibly because of what Sallypelt has just posted.  Too many nutters out there who would take the law into their own hands if SY gave any hint that they suspected either the McCanns or their friends?

TB has posted that he sees now that they don't correlate with incoming information on Crimewatch and Redwood comments. I have not voted because none seem to apply. I am also having to re-read as I miss quite a lot trying to catch up with all the threads.

Totally agree Sallypelt, I have never thought that the McCanns did not love and adore Madeleine, okay so maybe parenthood wasn't the walk in the park that they hoped for and I think their relationship was a dysfunctional one, and yes, whatever way it happened, they did lose their beautiful daughter, and I can only begin to imagine their distress.  However, that does not stop me from thinking that they do know more than they say and that it was possibly the threat of losing their other two precious beautiful children that set them on a terrible path as a way of holding onto something of their lives before that fateful holiday.

And as with the thread detailing Michael Wright's evidence in regard to possible threats to the twins, I know that I speak for the majority here inasmuch that whilst we may get annoyed with the McCanns in respect of their lies and propensity to bad mouth and even litigate against those who challenge their version of events, I do not in any way wish any physical harm to come to them, and much less their children.

If however, they have committed a crime as suspected by Gonçalo Amaral and his team of detectives, then I do hope that they are held to full account in a court of law and punished accordingly, because no matter how much they have suffered the loss of their daughter already, one has to ask how much their defenceless 3 yr old daughter suffered and as such they should not be exempt from justice.

The initial reports were about crimewatch style reconstructions and new evidence etc, but the main feature is that SY are now checking all of the phone records of everyone in PdL at the time, so one could extrapolate from that, that the T9 will be included in that investigation.
