I think the reason the McCanns use inappropriate words is simply because they have not lived any of the moments they are describing, if they had the words would come easily no thought would be needed.

Why flowers for this birthday particularly, why not before? What's special about this birthday over the others? Birthday is a yearly thing. Generally, flowers are used for remembrance of departed loved ones. Flowers for celebration is for joyous occasion only if the person is present and can enjoy the flowers, or for somber occasion if the person is dead, hence remembrance.

That woman is making a statement when she told the whole world about this "low key" event. It turns out to be another one of her wtf actions that is senseless.
