Madeleine's Father Cheered By Police

3:18pm UK, Friday 13 July 2007

The father of missing Madeleine McCann has received a standing ovation at an awards ceremony for Britain's bravest police officers.

Gerry McCann thanked officers for their help in the search for his four-year-old daughter and urged them not to give up the hunt.

He wiped away tears after a poignant video of his daughter was shown at the Police Bravery Awards at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

He said he and his wife Kate were now fully aware of the police's "sterling work".

Madeleine was snatched from her bed as she slept in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz on May 3.

Mr McCann told his audience: "Over the past 10 weeks Kate and I have been reminded of what a wonderful job you do.

"The role of our forces is often not appreciated until you really need their help.

"Kate and I would like to thank all of the police officers in the UK that were involved in the operation to find Madeleine for their sterling work."

He also praised the Portuguese police and other forces in countries where Madeleine has supposedly been sighted for their "commitment and co-operation".

Mr McCann said: "It's been 70 days since Madeleine was snatched from her bed as she slept. Each of those 70 days has been unbearable for her family. No child should be separated from its family in such a way."

He once again praised the "support and kind words" he and his family have received from members of the public, adding: "We will not give up and we will not stop searching for her."

No they were the 'sardine munching' ones. The cheering ones were the UK police.

To this day I cannot believe how Mr. was treated by them. Plus was going to be nominated for father of the year award by a Scottish newspaper. It is quite unbelievable.

Freemasons? All for one and one for all (or was that the 3 Musketeers?) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

On a serious note, unbl**dy believable. It makes you want to weep when you think of what the UK Police service has become under the politically correct wimps who have been allowed to take over.

Recent scandalous news show that those revered in the past can turn out to be evil perpetrators of the most horrific crimes against children.
Those who were given a title giving them a pre-fix before their name, and those given tin badges all in the misbelieved they were good, honest, decent human beings who either were courageous or having provided a life long good service to the public turned out to be wrongly backed horses.

The public reverence of gerry will turn into revulsion worst than the kind of Savile because Mr & Mrs went out of their way to publicly deceive people as well as fleece hundreds and hundreds of pensioners and school children of their money and more.

That's why they cannot stop in their quest to quash TB or GA at all costs. Their whole lives and their extended families' lives would be in ruins (and they would all be vilified by the public whether they knew or not) if it was ever proven that Madeleine was not abducted.

What is life imprisonment in the UK these days though, 7 years? It usually comes down to about 3 with time off for good behaviour, which is an absolute insult to the victim.

I was watching a true crime programme from the USA last night, albeit an old one, and the perpetrator was given 400 YEARS because of all the crimes he had committed. I truly, truly wish our government and judiciary system would grow some b***s and make the punishment fit the crime, but I can't see that happening for some time, although there is always hope in the future.

Vote ...... ? No I won't say it although I've joined them!!!!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I read of that - beyond one life time's kind of sentencing. That would be 5 or 6 life times in jail, and you have to wonder how the Judge when passing that kind of sentence expects someone to serve it fully, unless there is a belief the balance can be brought forward to be served in the next life where ever that might be, be it on planet earth or another planet.

I sometimes wonder whether a person's fate and destiny is a result of a brought forward from the sum total of past deeds.

It might seem a ridiculous sentence to some of us but at least it takes into account all the murders and horrendous crimes that that person has done (how can 3, 4 or 5 murders even be covered in one person's lifetime in jail) and makes sure he will never be let out during his lifetime. It's a pity some of our own murderers and rapists aren't given just as long sentences to make sure they will never see the outside of a jail again.

Exactly.
The end game is unthinkable for them.
It was, and is, worth a third of million pounds to keep one old aged pensioner silent.

I keep looking at that picture. [A video would have been easier BTW]
And all I can see is "a loss" ... A loss as in loosing a child or as in loosing the "game" or as in loosing whatever future might have been or as in ... you name it. Something has been lost and it's sadness and fear and despair and a kind of helplessness & resignation.
Jeez ... would be so much easier to explain in my mother tongue ...

Exactly!
You would think innocent people would go all the way to Court even if it costs them every penny and bankrupts them in the process to prove their innocence. All the rice in China can't buy innocence. It has to stand the tests and trial in Court if there's contention.

This pair did the opposite. They feel one-third of a million pounds is worthwhile spending to gag one old age pensioner whom they termed as "internet nutter."

Had they gone all the way to Court, and let the Court concludes on their libel claims, then they would be more believable.
No sane discerning individual would believe the Mccanns would suddenly spare an old man from bankruptcy. Especially not after they'd set out with ill intent to destroy him completely by seeking imprisonment for him, coming after they singled him out, stalked him, entrapped him, then sued him; mounting up an astronomical legal bill to intimidate him, stressing and harming him and his family only to suddenly decide to have mercy on him by agreeing to absorb the expensive costs in exchange for his silence. The sum just does not add up.

The value of it is a different matter, seeing they obviously deemed it good value to expend that kind of money to buy his agreement to be gagged. Unless CR rescinds their costs, which I doubt, as that would render it very suspicious and dark indeed. At most CR can agree to reduce their cost but to write it off completely would be sinister.

Historically, who ever heard of nasty litigant absorbing legal costs to the tune of 1/3 million silver pieces just to spare the other party from bankruptcy and the bargain they wanted is for the other party not to repeat what lies within the Police files.
Their action and behavior scream innocent? Quite the contrary!

Historically we heard of guilty party bribing people to buy their silence. When money is involved no matter the method it is a form of bribery. And the method the Mccanns used is the lowest of the low. Since they cant come outright to bribe TB, they'd used underhanded tactics to achieve the same goal. They not have given money to TB to have him altered his behavior, nonetheless they'd folked out to lawyers to force him to into silence. Expensive Innocent when it has to be purchased back in this way; that has absolutely no value in the true sense of the word.

The Mccanns are getting their knickers more twisted when they resort to unorthodox methods......to hang onto their "innocent" claim.
When truth is not on their side, their unscrupulous methods are going to come back and haunt them.
