Hmmm. So according to 'muratfan' on twitter, Tony has given all the IP addresses and names of the 2000+ members here on CMOMM to C-R as 'part of a deal to save his own skin'.

I think when the police get here they will be bringing roses and chocolates all round, to thank us for the accumulation of information and analysis which we've done, and for all the money we can now save the taxpayer, in the search for (justice for) Madeleine McCann. The European Court of Human Rights is reclining in its seats, awaiting our (form-free/ barrister/silkfree) written complaints.

Portia, My complaint about the unfairness of the hopeless inequality of arms that faced me when I gave in to Carter-Ruck in 2009 has been at the European Court of Human Rights for 3 years now, allocated with a Case No. and everything.

Because of a backlog, nothing has happened yet.

re: Application under Article 10 against United Kingdom - Banning of book - Libel laws that violate the right to freedom of speech, opinion and expression - Impossibility of defending a libel action against wealthy people

Please find enclosed my application dated 18 March 2010 for a Declaration that my rights under the European Convention on Human Rights, Article 10, have been violated, by the country’s libel laws. I also ask for compensation if the Court decides that my rights have been violated.

The case involves a book I wrote: “What Really Happened to Madeleine McCann? - 60 Reasons which suggest she was not abducted”.

In November 2009 I was forced to accede to the demands of Madeleine McCann’s parents that the book no longer be sold and all copies of it destroyed. I had to accede because of these factors which apply to British libel law:

1. Only wealthy people can afford to sue for libel. The McCanns have huge financial backing

2. Only wealthy people can afford to defend a libel claim. I have limited savings and an income of about £10,000 to £15,000 per year

3. There is no limit in British libel law to the amount of damages for libel that can be claimed, although in this case the McCanns limited their claim to £50,000

4. Crucially, there is no limit to the costs that can be claimed by a claimant. In this case, Carter-Ruck are the most expensive lawyers in the country. Their top lawyers, who were used in this case, charge up to £1,000 an hour, plus V.A.T., for their services. My lawyers advised me that if even one line in my book was found to be libellous, I would ‘face financial ruin’ by having to pay all of Carter-Ruck’s costs. I would have lost all of my savings and probably be forced to sell my house as well.

5. Unlike in the United States and many other jurisdictions, in the U.K. the burden of proof is on the defendant to prove that he did not libel the plaintiff, rather than on the plaintiff to prove that he was libelled.

The United Kingdom currently recognises that libel law is in urgent need of reform and as I say in my application, there are currently two reviews of these laws that he government is conducting, one by the Home Office, and one by a senior judge.

I have delayed sending my letter for a few days because yesterday there was a very important meeting in the Houses of Parliament, where the Minister for Justice promised urgent reforms of Britain’s unfair libel laws. I attach a report of that meeting prepared by the campaign group: ‘LibelReform.Org’.

I also enclose for your attention:

2) 21 numbered documents, including the book that is now banned plus correspondence between myself and Carter-Ruck between 27 August and 25 November 2009.

No-one knows the real name of any other person here, you do not have to say it when you register. So this is obviously a lie. In any case, many of us live outside of the UK - are the McCann couple really prepared to spend GBP250,000 to find and prosecute every one of us.

Have you not had the misfortune to encounter muratfan before, Inspector?

I've no idea about the choice of user name but I think I can safely say he is the vilest of the pro McCann supporters - and he has trodden on a lot of nasty creatures to get to the top.

I almost - but not quite - feel sorry for the McCanns that he has attached himself to their cause.

This is just the latest bit of nonsense from him.

According to that twerp MF, the brown noser to CR, the membership here is about ten, that's twice the members on JATYK2. They all talk to themselves.

I have not encountered them ever though I have heard the name mentioned many times and in conjunction with other names and websites, I know they are a pro though and would never want to engage with them, thoroughly nasty they seem
