The Prosecutor ordered the seizure of 3 houses and a large farm belonging to the ex-PM after he concluded that Socrates illegally received 32 million as part of Operation Marques, the assets will be kept as a guarantee in case he gets condemned. 
The 3 houses were sold by Socrates mother to his friend Carlos Santos Silva and the farm is under the name of Sofia Favs, Socrates ex-wife. Also, all of Carlos Santos Silva accounts were seized. 
As part of OM, Socrates is accused of the practice of eventual crimes of CORRUPTION fiscal fraud, money laundering, wrongful receipt of an advantage, forgery, INFLUENCING peddling.

In addition to Santos Silva and Salgado, the Prosecutor's Office considers that the former president of Portugal Telecom, Zeinal Bava; the daughter of the accused Armando Vera, Barbara Vera; the driver of the former prime minister, João Perna; and Socrates' ex-wife, Sofia Fava, participated in various crimes related to the plot, as well as attempts to hide the crimes once the judicial investigation of the crimes began.
Prime Minister Costa marks distances
Despite being part of the same political family, the current prime minister, António Costa, has put every effort to mark the distance of his socialist predecessor in the leadership of the Government, as he has done to ensure the independence of the investigation of the Operation Marquis.
A few hours after the accusation was formalized, the only member of the Executive who has spoken on the case has been Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, who has held the presentation of the charges as a fundamental step in a process that has lasted more than three years, and has been plagued by leaks and public disputes in the Portuguese media.
"The essential thing was that the accusation should be formalized in the appropriate place, through appropriate agencies, and not in newspapers, televisions or radios, not through leaks of information," said the head of the Portuguese diplomacy , who was also Minister of Defense and Parliamentary Affairs in the two governments of Socrates.
"It is good to know the exact accusation, and the factors on which it is based, because that way we can also know the defense, so things are done in a state of law."

Oh wow! Scary. I just wrote something on my facebook page about Jose Socrates..I mentioned Scotland Yard, MI5, Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Gonzalo Amaral and the McCanns. I posted it, It hovered there for a few seconds but didn't post,  then BUMP...my facebook went down. I can't get it on my computer or my phone. Please tell me that I'm being paranoid and facebook has gone down for everyone else too. It is just like facebook has been obliterated!

Is there anyone closely or even remotely linked to the McCanns who is above suspicion ?
How did they ever get themselves involved in political shenanigans ?
Why did they consort with paedo****s ?
Why did they pay Fraudsters ?
Why did they pay the most disgusting PR firms ?

So Why aren't the European Union bothered to ask questions of how did Portugal assess this amount of funds held by Jose Socrete's consortium,was it all obtained legally,no funds from the European Union misused as part of Grants participated in from EU Budgets,Freeports etc,or are they waiting for what has been proven in a Portugal Court of Law first,before they become involved?

Former Socialist Prime Minister José Sócrates has been charged with a total of 31 crimes. Among them he has been accused of receiving bribes totalling 34 million euros. According to the charges made public on Wednesday evening, José Sócrates faces allegations of corruption, forgery, tax evasion and money laundering.

News of the charges comes almost three years after José Sócrates was first detained. After spending time behind bars at an Évora prison facility, he was later placed under house arrest before being released pending further inquiries.
With a trial likely only to begin late in 2018, or even as late as 2019, it is already being termed the biggest judicial case in the history of the Portuguese democracy.
The charges mostly centre around Sócrates abusing his power to gain financial advantages for himself and others.
The ‘Marquês Operation’, as the investigation into Sócrates has become known, has seen him charged with three crimes of taking bribes as a politician, 16 of money laundering, nine of forging documents and three counts of tax fraud. 
The case involves, 28 defendants, 19 individuals and nine companies, and a total of 188 crimes.
The prosecution has meanwhile also called for the defendants to pay damages to the state amounting to 58 million euros. Along with José Sócrates, other defendants include former BES chairman Ricardo Salgado, former cabinet minister Armando Vara and PT Director Zeinal Bava.
The former prime minister and his friend and businessman Carlos Santos Silva may be sentenced to jointly pay 19.5 million euros plus interest. 
The allegations against José Sócrates are mainly linked to the events leading to the collapse of Portugal Telecom and BES bank, while he is also accused of receiving bribes from the construction company LENA.
Earlier his year, José Sócrates told The Portugal News at his Lisbon home that he was a victim of a political witch hunt and that his constitutional rights had repeatedly been violated during the investigation, which lacked in scruples.
Addressing reporters on Wednesday evening, defence lawyer João Araújo said that the 4,000-page charge sheet was merely an illusion and that by the time his team had finished sifting through the alleged evidence of wrong-doing there would be nothing left.
“They were not trying to get to the truth, they were trying to incriminate our client when they exposed him to a media trial, a violent defamation campaign and a one-sided public condemnation”, the lawyers said.
“The 4,000 pages are part of the spectacle, they only serve to make believe that there is something awry, when there is in fact nothing,” Araujo added.
Sócrates quit as prime minister midway during his second term in office back in 2011, following a series of protests against the country’s financial woes. This was coupled with his cabinet’s inability to avert the debt-crisis that led to the subsequent centre-right coalition government being forced to seek an international bailout.

Hi aquila-Presumption of Innocence?
The Two cases,Jose Socrates/Madeleine McCann are thought not to be connected,but there is One conjunction Gordon Brown,Gerry McCann,that then bring in the bigger consortium, Home Secretary,Jacqui Smith,Clarence Mitchell,Justine MaGuiness,MI5,various Police Forces?
Jose Socrates,may Scoff,scorn as much as he likes,that there is no connection to this wider group of friends having developed some sort of consortium to deceive the funds from the Government or the Banks,via agreements made signed off as legal?  
If,"Freeport" and the signing of any agreements to enter the European Union have any connotations to the Madeleine McCann case aand Mr Goncalo Amaral being dismissed as lead Detective for questioning UK Police impartiality,they now cannot simply be laughed off,when phone records indicate affiliation to one of the parents and Police Officers,given specific duties on DNA Evidence,April 28ths Phone records,CMMoM,Misconduct in Public Office,Perverting the course of Justice?

Gordon Brown can act as smug as he likes if and when he is ever questioned over his closeness to our Gerry,but you cannot deny that this is Not a normal Police Investigation into a missing young girl named Madeleine for whatever reason?
On Thursday 12 October,I caught part of the Police Murder series on BBC 2,now I may have been cynical over comments directed to Police officers involved in corruption,but I take my Hat off to all the Police Officers from Manchester,involved in the murder Series Programme,for the expertise,Professionalism shown,bringing about successful prosecutions to the guilty parties,well done.  
Your Professionalism leaves an awful lot of unanswered questions for the leaders of the Metropolitan Police Service and their involvement in Operation Grange and the way they have conducted themselves?
Now i know this may not be the fault of the Police Officers in the Lower ranks,but is your name that is"blackened"if Operation Grange fails?
Surely there is something wrong within the Police Service,when the viewer sees Committed Police Personnel undertake their duties with such valiance,to then see how other Police forces with larger budgets fail to attain the same standards of Policing to the communities they represent,it's dumbfounding to say the least?
There are at least Nine people who refused to take part in a"Reconstruction"of where they were on the night that Madeleine McCann is claimed to have disappeared,say her parents,3 May 2007?
The public have accessed files of their statements from Portugal,they have also seen the versions from Leicsertershire Police force,some of which have very dubious Policing practices,withholding statements for five Months,etc?
