Re: What you WON'T find in Summers and Swan's book
I haven't read the book, can some-one who has please tell me at what point the narrative ends? If it is at the point at which the McCanns return to England, then I maybe understand why Stuart Prior is not mentioned. However I was under the impression that Lee Rainbow's experience was called on while the parents were still in Portugal?

WM,
Disjointed snippets in the last few pages right up to 2014, mentioning Grange, Redwood, etc, so anything could have (should have?) been included, especially as it's was sold on the basis of being 'the most definitive account possible'.

Thank you, DougD.
That is odd, then. Lee Rainbow has been described as a 'foremost criminal profiler'. Why wouldn't his input be part of a 'definitive'account?

HideHo - must congratulate you on your summary of who's not/what's not mentioned in the book.
I have never been so disappointed in a book. I felt like asking for my money back.

I had many a disagreement on their facebook page with Ms Gurney. In the end she deleted a number of comments of mine and others and then banned me, so she obviously had admin status.BlueBag wrote:Ah... bless...

Yep, she did that to me too and I only asked a simple question. I agree she had admin status.Nina wrote:I had many a disagreement on their facebook page with Ms Gurney. Please don't congratulate me. One thing important to me when doing my graphics is to give a link to the original or give credit to the 'author'. In this case I did it quickly without crediting the author and posted here a year later without checking. Researchers at Maddie Case Files took the time and trouble to compile the info. THEY deserve the congratulations :)
Lesson learned...check my graphics before I post. Apologies to those that compiled it.
Re: What you WON'T find in Summers and Swan's book
As I have been reading quite a lot about JFK lately, I was surprised to see Anthony Summers popping up in so many different places. There are videos of him, when he was quite young. From what I have discovered, he isn't a credible writer OR researcher. Take this information, snipped from Five Myths of J Edgar Hoover, for example:
"The story that Hoover, a lifelong bachelor, participated in cross-dressing, all-male sex parties in New York hotel rooms, as reported by British writer Anthony Summers in a 1993 biography, has been widely debunked by historians. The story’s source, the wife of a businessman and Hoover confidante, had a grudge from a contested divorce, and other investigations of the story came up empty"
So, it would seem that Summers research only goes as deep as what OTHER PEOPLE tell him. Strange how this man has been around for such a long time

Can someone remind us with a link of the meeting that Winters and Goose allegedly had with Scotland Yard prior to their blockbuster tome on Madeleine?Amy Dean wrote:Here's a fairly recent article from Anthony Summers about Hoover.

Aquila,
TB put in an FoI request in respect of the meeting which they declared in their book (snipped):
‘On 11 September 2014, Headline published a book, 'Looking for Madeleine', written by U.S. authors Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan. There has been widespread concern that this book omits many relevant facts about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. The authors have stated on the record in their book that they "met with Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood at the outset [who] urged us to be constantly careful that we do nothing during our research that might...impact negatively on the search for Madeleine".
and received the following response (snipped):
Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) 15 October 2014

This sounds like Poulton's get out clause for not producing the Untold story, which to this day remains Untold.Doug D wrote:Aquila,

Is the witness referred to the MPS Detective Inpector?

Re: What you WON'T find in Summers and Swan's book
It's a bit odd to describe an MPS employee presumably playing a part in the meeting as a witness.worriedmum wrote:Is the witness referred to the MPS Detective Inpector?
Is there some FOI fudge going on here?
