RTP news report 2nd May 2014
15 minute TV piece from yesterday (2/5) with Sandra/MWT/Monteiro’s widow and others. Snippets in English, but mostly in Portugese, but looks as though it might be interesting if someone could précis it.

Tonight we showed him the alibi of the prime suspect in this case that led to the judicial police to reopen the investigation for 6 months. In an exclusive interview on Friday at 9, the widow of Euclid Monteiro says that an hour before Madeleine disappeared, her husband wrote a poem which computer record exists. This Cape Verde, which would now 46, was erected in suspect five years after he died tragically in a tractor accident. The Register are set five years in prison for robberies housing in Albufeira, 20 years now, but there is not a written sexual abuse of minors online - a new hypothesis that PJ and English police posing as may be behind the disappearance the most high-profile child in the world.

I don't know if this has already been posted, so can admins either delete or move to its appropriate place?
Burglar 'was quizzed over sex assaults linked to Madeleine McCann before he died'
A SUSPECT in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann was quizzed about a string of sex assaults linked to the youngster's disappearance before he died, his widow said last night/
Euclides Monteiro's wife Luisa Rodrigues said Portuguese police probing Madeleine's abduction questioned the convicted burglar the year after she vanished about a spate of sex attacks at Algarve holiday villas.
She claimed DNA tests had put the recovering heroin addict - a former worker at the Ocean Club holiday complex Madeleine vanished from seven years ago today - in the clear.
And she insisted detectives leading the hunt for Madeleine never asked Cape Verde-born Monteiro, who died in a 2009 tractor accident, about the missing child.
The revelation, pointing to an apparent failure by Portuguese detectives to link the breaks-ins to Madeleine's abduction early on, will raise fresh concern about the original police probe which led to her parents Gerry and Kate being made suspects.
It also raises questions about why Portuguese police heading a cold case review decided to question Monteiro's widow last year after making a link between Madeleine McCann's 2007 disappearance and the sex attacks his widow says he proved five years earlier he had nothing to do with.
British police heading a separate probe into Madeleine's disappearance are trying to identify a serial sex attacker who may have struck at least 18 times in Algarve holiday resorts, starting in 2004.
They have described the intruder as "smelly and pot-bellied", wearing a burgundy top with a distinctive white circle on the back - but never pointed the finger at Monteiro.
Ms Rodrigues' claims that Portuguese detectives believed the Algarve sex assaults were the work of one man as far back as 2008 will also lead to questions about why they were only made public recently.
Euclides' widow, who never spoke about her late partner's 2008 police quiz when she admitted earlier this year two Portuguese women detectives had questioned her last October, broke her silence on Portuguese state broadcaster RTP, Insisting he had nothing to do with Madeleine's disappearance and went straight after finishing a five-year prison sentence in 1999.
She told the TV station: "Euclides was summonsed to the police station in Portimao, the same one heading the Madeleine McCann investigation, in 2008.
"He was told they were looking for a tall black man who had broken into country homes and sexually assaulted children inside.
"He didn't commit a single crime after he left prison.
"He denied any involvement in the indecent assaults. Police did DNA tests at the time and ruled him out as a suspect and apologised for troubling him.
"They never mentioned Madeleine McCann. Until the day he died the police never contacted him again."
Luisa also gave her late husband an alibi over Madeleine - by producing a poem she said he had written on his computer around the time she vanished.
She said computer records showed he wrote at 9pm on May 3 2007 - an hour before Kate McCann discovered Madeleine missing.
She added: "I know Euclides had nothing to do with Madeleine's disappearance. It's impossible he had a double life. I knew everything about him."
Porto-based Policia Judiciaria officers heading a review into the Algarve-led Madeleine McCann investigation began to suspect Monteiro after pinpointing him to the area where the British youngster disappeared from by his mobile phone.
Kate McCann, 46, made a veiled attack on the Portuguese police ahead of the seventh anniversary of her daughter's disappearance today.
British police have to send time-consuming international 'Letters of Request' to Portugal every time they want something done.
Met Police said recently they were confident of being able to start "operational activity" in Portugal soon but their hopes have so far failed to materialise and their desire for a joint investigation has also been rejected.
Kate said: "The passing of further weeks and months as a result of unnecessary delays and barriers are not only frustrating, they are distressing.
"Each day without Madeline and each day of not knowing is another day too many."

Re: RTP news report 2nd May 2014
Maybe the Portuguese police decided to question Monteiro because Kate wrote in her book that she had heard about break ins and assault?
All depends on which date they questioned him, before or after she wrote it in the book.
I can't find where I read this but wasn't employees going into appartments and laying on beds? Most employees need a rest whilst working, and seeing a bed it's too tempting!

Tonight we will show you the alibi of the main suspect of this case that lead to the reopening of the process by the Judiciary Police six months ago. In an exclusive interview to ‘Sexta às 9’ [RTP news program ‘Friday at 9’] Euclide’s widow states that just one hour before Madeleine disappeared her husband wrote a poem for which there is a computer record [metadata/ e.g. Last time a text document was saved on a computer]. The Cape-Verdean, who would be today 46 years old, was elected as a suspect 5 years after he died tragically in a tractor accident. His criminal record shows a 5-year prison term for housebreaking and burglary in Albufeira about 20 years ago, yet there is not a single line written about child sex abuse – the new hypothesis put forward by the PJ and the English police as the possibility that lies behind the disappearance of the world's most high-profile child.
in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Synopsis/ quick highlights: Euclides Monteiro has an alibi for the time when Maddie disappeared, his DNA was tested back in 2008 and no matches were found, he does not have a record of child sex abuse. In Algarve there are no official police records of a "man who allegedly targeted only British children" and who broke into Britons houses to specifically sexually abuse their white, blue-eyed and blonde little English girls as described by DCI Andy Redwood in his latest media performances, nor have any of the locals or the British expat community have any recollection of such events taking place in the past 10 years. Euclides Monteiro's widow has lost her job in the consequence of the exposure of her name in the UK media (Mirror, Daily Mail, Daily Star, etc). Euclides Monteiro's alibi is a poem that he wrote at 21pm of 3rd of May 2007, that his wife found in the computer, a series of poems that were now published posthumously.
Euclides Monteiro's mobile phone ping traced by the PJ in the cell phone antennas of Praia da Luz on the 3rd of May 2007 is also explained by the Monteiro couple living close by those antennas towers as seen in the video, so Monteiro's cell phone would ping anyway. Monteiro was arrested for 5 years circa 20 years ago for housebreaking and burglary in the area of Albufeira (Algarve) when he was still an addict, since then he overcome his addiction and was never arrested again. The Monteiros have a son that is Maddie's age, Euclide's widow fears more repercussions and appears in the video under a pseudonym. Also Euclides only drove a scooter, he did not own a car - a bit impossible to 'kidnap' a child on a scooter. Several people appear in the video, from Bragança [North of Portugal] where he lived from the 70's till the 90's, attesting that he was a good man despite the troubled life he led later on. Euclide's sister appears again accusing the current PJ investigation lead by Helena Monteiro of taking the easy route and pinning Madeleine's disappearance on a dead man - couldn't agree more!
Mark Williams-Thomas, an usual UK media rent-an-opinion-cop states (and known McCann couple abduction thesis supporter) that Redwood's team was over confident and that they are under enormous pressure to solve the case. He also states, upon being questioned by Sandra Felgueiras, that he finds it very odd the fact that several people have only contacted Redwood's team after the BBC Crimewatch/McCann show (that was filmed in Spain and never broadcast in Portugal) and not in 2007, to the local police forces (GNR, PJ) or the UK police authorities when returning from their holidays. Redwood's MET team no longer consider the late Euclides Monteiro as a suspect, and are now looking for a smelly, pot-bellied man who wore a burgundy sweatshirt (another farcical lead to add to the 196...). As to Helena Monteiro's PJ team, it is unknown if they still consider Euclides as the main suspect, they at least did at some point since it seems that that was the basis for the reopening of Madeleine McCann's process in Portugal.
My Opinion: This are all leads that lead nowhere, as everyone who has followed this affair for the past 7 years knows well. Until a real reconstruction as opposed to the BBC Crimewatch farce, takes place in situ with the former arguidos and Tapas 7, until major key witnesses are reinterviewed like the Smiths, and until the Portuguese PJ and politicians stop being subservient ostriches with their heads buried in the sand towards the English powers and conniving with the McCann's sham this circus will last another 7 years.
Further notes: Others, except maybe Redwood and his team, would question the authenticity of those calls and its provenance, it's not the first time that hysterical British tourists try to kidnap soccer player's children thinking that a 2 year old boy could be Maddie, or that we hear about fake Maddie sightings being planted (Método 3 style - the Mccanns hired detectives) following the annual McCann media blitz or similar Clarence Mitchell PR stunts. It's also not the first time that we have had the knowledge of actions being taken by McCann couple supporters like the HTFM pyramidal structure group [[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]] who tried to en masse delete youtube videos about the McCann affair circa 2008.
Will translate the video fully as soon as possible. CMTV [[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]] will broadcast tonight a special about the Maddie case which is alleged to include an interview with Gonçalo Amaral, will also translate that if the video is published online or if anyone records it.

It appears to me that the Portuguese police have not come to similar conclusions as Goncalo Amaral.
If Euclides Monteiro was the reason they reopened the case and Sandra Felguiras has hinted at the portuguese going along with the Met police with their heads buried in the sand, I get the impression the end is coming and they are tying up loose ends.

Yes stitching up of course Rasputin.
The transcript of that interview makes me very uncomfortable. Somebody else(helen Monteiro)is leading the investigation now,who knows what route she is going down,it seems to me its similar to SY though.

I still refuse to believe that Portugal will allow or collaborate in a whitewash. So long as suspects and stories (no matter how obviously ludicrous to us on the forum) do the rounds in the media, then the country is tainted as riddled with thieves, paedos and drug-addled kidnappers and murderers.
It would be a suicide note for their tourist industry to allow that.
A resolution based in truth and centred on the actual culprits is surely the only one that can be acceptable to the Portuguese authorities - one that massively and dramatically and unequivocally says that it's a safe town, region and country - and that they were in fact wronged.

Ouch Bellisa! Not a good start to my Sunday, lol. I don't think that is the case, even though I think Sandra F. is brilliant.Bellisa wrote:It appears to me that the Portuguese police have not come to similar conclusions as Goncalo Amaral.

The McCanns may believe they are grand masters at covering their true emotions, but the stress and the strain are impossible to hide. They are not confident enough to sit apart and speak as adult individuals. In the interview with Fiona Bruce, Kate is hanging onto Gerry with BOTH hands. These are not people with a clear conscience and a bright future. They are in that odd position where they have been given everything they have asked for, and they are now the perfect example of 'be careful what you wish for'. 'Give us money they said' and it poured in, in millions. Give us a Review they begged, 'sure thing, here's a team of SY's Yard's finest'. 'Give us a platform to plead our case', they implored, 'there you go, a permanent slot on Lorraine's cosy sofa - fill yer boots'. Their tale is almost biblical, it could easily become a fable or a folktale, 'this is what happens when you won't accept 'no' for an answer'. Future generations will be able to scare their kids with it everytime they demand a new video game or a pair of designer trainers.
The body language of the McCanns is in direct opposition to what they are saying. Gerry appears to be holding it together far better than Kate, she is the helpless female, he is the alpha male, they are almost a weird version of Bonny and Clyde or a bad ventriloquist with a psycho dummy with a penchant for making inappropriate comments. - they share love, or madness or something. They almost certainly share a need to dissect their every performance, looking for ways in which to improve 'next time' and slips of the tongue that might open yet another avalanche of hostile comments.
I can't think of one reason why Portugal would want to blame the 'abduction' on a sundry Portuguese citizen to spare the McCanns' blushes. The idea is absurd. In clearing the McCanns they would be admitting to the world that their police force is corrupt and the star of their tourist industry, the Algarve is riddled with paedophile gangs and perverts who target small British girls. I'm not saying it is impossible. Given that the answer to every question is money, the only way in which Portugal would have reason to capitulate to the British, would be if the UK had some kind of financial hold over them, but even then the sympathy of the world would lie with Portugal, not the UK. It would be like the US sending the FBI into Italy to find an alternate defendant to Amanda Knox.
However, that Portugal would involve themselves in a cover up, simply isn't feasible given that that the PJ will provide detailed accounts of their investigation when the case is concluded, as they did when the original investigation was shelved. This is a high profile case and their findings will be examined by thousands of experts worldwide who will scrutinise files in depth, and no-one has the power to stop the avalanche of opinion that will follow.
