Prison officer sacked and four others disciplined after Madeleine McCann T-shirt stunt

Post by Guest on 11.11.13 23:30

It's utterly idiotic, but should someone actually be fired over a tasteless joke made in their own free time? Prince Harry wore a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party and he's still in line to the British throne.

It's just another example of how much removed from the normal world this case really is. I don't know if there might be any rules for LE for behavior in public, even if it's in your own time. For rest if it's about Madeleine, Harr as Nazi or naked, or the http://www.businessinsider.com/the-nsa-wants-to-ban-sales-of-this-t-shirt-on-zazzle-2013-8#ixzz2kNqlOaxx NSA shirt: all personal choices, some are even rather funny.

Some of the things the McCanns have said and done are far more distasteful.

It was a bad joke and the officer should have a had a warning. To sack him is way too harsh.

I see that Pedro commented:

Oh bless him! At least he didn't want the offender to be hung, drawn and quartered.

The Civil Service has rules about standards of behaviour at all times, not only in the workplace. These rules are open to interpretation, which could lead to harsh decisions at times. However, it may be that the sacked officer was already on a final warning for misconduct, or there may have been other, unpublished, aspects to this case.

The tee shirts would have been in better taste if they read...

"GERRY KISS ME QUICK"

From all the lads at Wandsworth Prison. I believe Gerry will be a very popular inmate in the nick. Time will tell, but I suspect his dance card will be busy. If found guilty he will deserve the Argentine Tango!

Bearing in mind the child is either dead or suffering i would say whoever thought up that stunt is some way towards being brain dead.

Where the dodgy doctors' McCann are concerned, the UK police have got what they deserve.  They want to protect them, they'll just have to suck them up!

Two wrongs don't make it right unfortunately.

I can think of plenty of other slogans if they wanted to make a point about the mccanns parenting skills.

Clearly wearing a T shirt with an offensive (- only to some - ironically funny in a British way to others -) motto is a greater crime than the deliberate and calculated abandonment of three tiny children, 6 nights in succession in an unlocked apartment in a small town in a foreign country, even after they had complained about their treatment.
A greater misdemeanour than accusing various conveniently dead men of having kidnapped and by implication murdered Madeleine
A far greater felony than committing a long term Fraud on the people of Britain by claiming that the monies received would all be used in the search for Madeleine
A greater offence than naming a totally innocent father as a likely suspect, and causing him to be traced and inconvenienced by Police
Greater than naming and actually identifying another apparently innocent man, and causing him to be officially named as a Principle SUSPECT in a vile and outrageous crime, such that his reputation is damaged forever
Worse than using Stolen Goods as evidence to sue an Old Age Pensioner for daring to speak his mind.

Yes, the T shirt wins hands down !

either Gerry Mccann approves of tasteless jokes, or what the Gaspar's heard David Payne and him joking about was more sinister.

I wouldn't be surprised to read about a huge pay out for unfair dismissal to the Prison Officer at some stage.  Never mind, it's only our money being wasted right, left and centre.

Now I wonder who drew the matter to the Prison Officer's superiors after it having been online for some time?

I think it was a stupid thing to do, but people in the public service have got away with a lot more than this without being sacked, as someone posted earlier on in the thread.

Don't you think it's strange there's been no photos to show and no names mentioned in any article. Not even the spokesperson from Wandsworth prison?

Not one name!

It reminds me of one of those urban myths. When you try to track down the person whom the event supposedly happened to, you can't.

Blood and cadaver alerts
dismissed by UK Government

Retired DCI Gonçalo Amaral: "The English can always present the conclusions to which they themselves arrived in 2007. Because they know, they have the evidence of what happened - they don't need to investigate anything. All this is now a mere 'show off'."

Retired murder DCI Colin Sutton: "I would also like to make the point that Operation Grange was so restricted from the start as to be destined to fail."

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley made public on national TV that Operation Grange is a complete fraud.

Ex-DCI Andy Redwood had a "revelation moment" on BBC's Crimewatch on 14th October 2013 when he announced that Operation Grange had eliminated the Tanner sighting - which opened up the 'window of opportunity', in accordance with their remit, to allow the fake abduction to happen.

Despite "irrelevant behaviour" from blood and cadaver dogs in the McCann's apartment, on Kate McCann's clothes, and in the car they hired three weeks after Maddie disappeared, Ex-Chief Inspector, Ian Horrocks, said: "The thought that Kate and Gerry McCann had anything to do with the death of their daughter is frankly preposterous."

Gerry McCann called for example to be made of 'trolls'. SKY News reporter Martin Brunt doorstepped Brenda Leyland on 2 October 2014. She was then found dead in a Leicester hotel room. Brenda paid the price. She paid with her life.

Ex-Deputy Chief Constable, Jim Gamble QPM, congratulated SKY reporter, Martin Brunt, on twitter for doorstepping Brenda Leyland on behalf of Gerry McCann.
