well I certainly hope that similar time, money and resources can be made available for any british child that goes missing abroad, whatever class or background the parents are from, this case has certainly set a precedence, and while I sympathise with this particular set of parents,I cannot but wonder if their ability to garner publicity and raise media support has helped to keep this case alive, someone from a less priviledged background would most probably not have the same media and publicity savvy and thus not the same level of assistance they are now being afforded.

I do hope they discover what really happened to Madeleine, and that this fiasco comes to an end soon.
It's high time.
Indications are all there, in the files. Hopefully they've read them!

I am just glad to see the ''cynical self important'' are getting quieter these days, of all the horrible things they used to say about them.

God bless you both and your children and the people working on her case. May soon you be reunited.

Let us not also forget the parents whose children go missing every day that they will be reconciliation for those too.

Whatever the truth is the account given by the McCanns makes little sense .
With the understanding that very strange things happen this particular case will not be solved until the McCanns legal team ends its defensive stand.

I cannot fathom what they have been through, it is unimaginable, but for love of something, give it a rest & accept the reality. Max Clifford doesn't do this much PR for his clients. If she was to be found, it would have happened well before now.

I cannot understand this ever continuing promo thing.

They did nothing wrong, nothing out of the ordinary, but unfortunately some object took that opportunity to steal their daughter. On the basic level of things, with such actions, I doubt (sadly) you will see of her again.

I wish they could find an inner peace within themselves, and not yet another headline statement.

I would have thought that every time these stories about how they might be getting close to finding Madeleine it would be putting her life in danger, whoever has her would not want to be found with her would they, locate her bless her then sneak up and pounce on them would be the best way in my opinion. but then i'm not a policeman but just my thoughts. hope they find her safe and well and reunite her with her parents,

I wonder if that was a reliable sighting or the result of having the odd bevvy or two in the pub!

Did I imagine it or did I read somewhere that the McCanns are no longer allowed to take the twins abroad? I think I must have imagined it because the McCanns can do exactly what they like at all times.

That would be just before the start of the hearing of the McCanns' claim for libel in the Lison Courts when I would imagine the strain and grief at the prospect of being soundly trounced by Dr Amaral and his co-defendants would be obvious on their usually smug faces - not to mention the prospect of seeing the available balance in the Limited Company fund's account further depleted by lawyers fees, air fares, etc.

Maybe the reason that the McCann's no longer travel abroad, together, is either they cannot, or they are afraid to do so. All speculation on my part, of course.

Hunt for Madeleine McCann focusing on Russia, as local charity claims family received 'tip-off' from dying paedophile

• Pervert Raymond Hewlett 'told son on deathbed he knew who took her'
• Posters of how she might look now are distributed in Russia and Ukraine
• Youngster still missing six years after disappearing from Portugal resort

The hunt for missing British girl Madeleine McCann has switched to the former Soviet Union after a confession from a serial paedophile that she could be in Russia or the Ukraine.

Serial paedophile Raymond Hewlett - who died three years ago from cancer - is believed to have told his son that he knew who had abducted Maddy from a Portugal holiday apartment in 2007.

A charity which specialises in finding trafficked children says it has been contacted by representatives of Madeleine's family to launch an appeal for information.

Posters in Russian with pictures of the youngster showing how she might look now are being distributed from the charity's offices in Kiev and Moscow.

Victoria Yanyko - from the Ukrainian Missing Persons Association - told local media: 'A representative of the family contacted us and we made a special, Russian language, leaflet to spread with the intention of finding this girl who went missing six years ago at the age of four.'

'We've distributed it in the Ukraine and in Russia, thanks to our Russian colleagues.

'A representative of the family contacted us after they got information from a dying man who said he took part in abducting Maddy and that she might be in this area,' she added.
...
Russian news website Life.ru says the new search was triggered by a call from Graham Perry, a volunteer with the Find Madeleine campaign. 'It is possible that Maddy now holds another name and speaks another language,' he told Life.ru.

Madeleine was nearly four when she vanished from her family's Portuguese holiday apartment in Praia da Luz as her parents, Gerry and Kate, ate dinner at a nearby tapas restaurant with friends.

The case led to a worldwide search amidst fears the girl had been snatched, but despite a number of leads coming to light no trace of Madeleine has every been conclusively found.

[PICTURE: Confession: Paedophile Raymond Hewlett reportedly confessed to his son that he knew who took the youngster]

Since the disappearance, officials have from time to time issued digitally altered images showing what she might look like over the passage of time.

Madeleine's family have never given up their quest to track down their missing daughter.

Mrs McCann has ploughed £1million from sales of her book about the incident and its aftermath back into the search.

The bestseller, entitled simply Madeleine, was published in 2011 on the day of her eighth birthday.

Madeleine's Fund hit £1.8million shortly after the three-year-old vanished from her family’s holiday resort.

But by 2011, after four years of searching, it had dwindled to £125,000.

There have been a number of reported sightings of Madeleine from across the world since she went missing.

In 2011 the Chandigarh Tribune said that a British woman had seen a youngster bearing a remarkable likeness to the youngster.

But after studying a photo of the child, the McCanns announced the girl was not their daughter.

____________________

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".

Maybe the now 10 year old Maddie McCann could be retrieved from Russia or the Ukraine, you mean?
Well, she might. The slight problem of her different looks and foreign speech would not be a real impediment for a joyful reunion, or would it?

I also note that Graham Perry used the word "findable" which of course isn't even a real word.  Was it John McCann who first used it?  I know he used the term recoverable previously, but brain is mush thanks to massive antibiotic dose (BTW thanks Candyfloss for finding the thread and bumping it for me...brain is all over the place this now roses

I'm sure that Gerry has used the expression "she's still a findable little girl" which I thought was odd but then, that applies to everything he says.

The last time I heard of Graham Perry, he was supposedly off to the former USSR to look for Madeleine. Hopefully, he'll never be seen again!
