There's certainly no doubt about that, Plebgate. The same stories keep popping up apparently as new exclusives. Madeleine is the "new Diana" - any photo of the latter, no matter how silly the accompanying story, was guaranteed to sell the paper.

It's interesting though that this story, though on the front page, has a very small headline and is very much second fiddle to the bizarre story from China.

I don't think that Kate Weirdo will be pleased at not being considered number one in importance.

IMO the Mirror and all the other newspapers will be sat going through all their archives and re hashing old news, thinking the public won't remember what was published at the time, well the've got that wrong where a lot of people are concerned. I'm sure there will be other suspects they will find to give them a story, then send a journalist to interview them, who are they kidding?

When the real suspects are are brought to book then they will have their never to be forgotten headlines.

Always felt "uncomfortable " with the Portuguese inquiry... really?! I don't believe Mario even said that. And if for some reason he knows about this "journalistic "piece no one will print his real words, not in GB at least. And going into wonderland for a moment, what if he saw a Scandinavian looking guy with glasses in a holiday resort?! "I'll never forget the glasses ". Someone should warn any Scandinavian /blonde /blue eyed /tall /short /fat /skinny male around PDL or anywhere NOT TO WEAR SUNGLASSES.

Witness Statement

Mario Fernando Madeira Marreiros

Occupation: Laundry worker

Place of Work: OC

He has worked at the OC since the 5th March 2007 as a laundry worker as well as the driver of the laundry vehicles of the resort, delivering and collecting laundry (towels and sheets) from the apartments that make up the resort.

With relation to the events being investigated he states that on 4th May 2007, upon arriving at work at about 10.00 he saw that next to an apartment block there were various cars and police as well as members of the press, which he found strange.

Later, when he arrived at his place of work he was informed by colleagues that this "apparatus" was due to the disappearance of a little girl who had been staying at the resort.

He was informed that the girl was three years old, of British nationality and he observed that posters with her photograph and details were already up, with indications to follow in the case of information about her disappearance.

When questioned he said that he did not know the girl or her family, only having heard about them after the event.

When questioned about the day of the disappearance (03 May 2007) of the girl whose name he does not remember, he says he carried out his normal routine, arriving at his place of work at about 10.00, with a lunch break from 13.00 to 14.30, returning to work until 18.00. After work he returned home where he stayed with his wife until 21.30 when he went alone by car to Barao de Sao Joao, where his step son works.

After having picked up his step son he returned home where he stayed until the following day when he left for work.

He only knew about the events from the press and from his colleagues.

He knows nothing more apart from that the girl was on holiday with her family and twin siblings as he was informed later.

He does not know of anything suspicious that could be related to the events.

The msm are really scraping the barrel rehashing all and sundry. Perhaps we are going to get the taxi driver next, who supposedly drove Madeleine and others in his cab. There could be no end to this, how many false leads have there been over the years?

I just hope something is happening behind the scenes that has got the McCanns and their friends rattled.

In Portuguese paper "Correio da Manhã" we have the news about this but also says (loosely translated by me):
In his (Mário) first testimony to the PJ (with an actual link to the MccanPJ case files http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/MARIO_MARREIROS.htm ) there's no reference to the suspect with whom he crossed as he now says to the British newspaper. Some months later he gave this information to the PJ and spent hours with a detective looking to videos and pictures ,he now says to "the mirror". He couldn't identify anyone"

Sharoni, spot on. This is the second time in a few days that the 'Scandinavian' look of someone has come up.

Do we have any pictures of anyone of the Tapasniks (male) with that type of sunglasses on at any time during the holidays?

Could the appearance of mr Sunglass at that particular time at that particular spot have been a dry run for the disposal of the linen (/) used to cover/dispose of the little child?

And someting else strikes as odd: this guy Mario has only been at the MW for a month -he says.
But still, he avowes to know everyone at the complex?

Just slip the laundry man a few shekels and bob's your uncle. Even if this was the case, what chance does a working class person have of bringing to court a defamation claim here in the UK and expect to win.
