I found an article on the murderer Derek Brown, while looking for something else. Interestingly the article mentions the use of the UK's top "bodyfinder" who isn't named. The "bodyfinder" is available (on call apparently) to be used by all police forces and was used in the search for MM in Portugal.

Sorry I can't post the link but if you google Court News UK then search Derek Brown, it's about halfway down the page.

Yes, sorry it is a grisly case. I was curious really as to whether this person's expertise was requested by the PJ or if the person was part of the UK police sent to Portugal. If the latter, then it would add strength to the notion that the UK police also doubted the abduction scenario and the "no proof of harm done to Madeleine" and were infact looking for a body.

There is no indication of the success statistics of this unnamed top bodyfinder.
Since he is rated as "top" surely he must have had a high success rate in highly complex or difficult cases.
