invite to the missing children prayer day

Dear Friends,

I am writing to invite you to join the Madeleine Prayer Circle (MPC) and thousands of others as we come together again to pray for Madeleine McCann and all of the missing, abused and exploited children in our world, and if possible, for you to include a prayer for Madeleine and all missing children in your service, on the first weekend in May 2010 (Saturday 1st May or Sunday 2nd May).

MPC is an international group of Christians dedicated to praying specifically for missing, abducted, trafficked, abused and/ or exploited children around the world. The group arose from the tragic disappearance of Madeleine McCann when a small group of Christians, deeply moved by Madeleine's plight, began to pray regularly together for her protection and safe return.

MPC has since expanded its mission to pray for all missing, abducted, trafficked, abused and / or exploited children around the world, in recognition that as Christ's servants on earth, intercession and action on behalf of the world's most vulnerable members of society are our most important callings.

"Again, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." Mathew 18: 19-20

Throughout 2009 / 2010 we witnessed the safe return of a number of children who had been abducted, including Jaycee Dugard who had been held in captivity for over 18 years, as well as the arrest of a numerous of international child trafficking operations. I am sure our prayers make a difference!

I have prayed for Madeleine McCann many times as I am sure thousands of others have. I pray that the truth about her disappearance becomes known.

If people believe in God then they will also believe he knows exactly where she is and exactly what happened to her.

He is also a lover of justice.

INTERPRETATION:

Personally I dont see anything wrong with a group of people having a prayer session for children and I am surprised TB sees them as "strange".

No, I agree, in general a group of people praying for children seems very worthy, BUT there are some concerns about John Wearne's fund-raising activities. He raises money e.g. for 'Robin Hood Ministries; which he refers to as 'his charity'. Here's an example:

Here's a message he sent out in late 2008:

The Madeleine Prayer Group is worldwide and consists of individuals and churches that pray on their own time, no real organised groups. We now organise one every 2 months and the numbers are currently at around 8,000 people worldwide that will be praying for her and other innocent children. We need to take a stand against this evil!

Maybe the 'strange' comes from this part of the article.

Missing, abused, exploited children existed as old as history.
Nothing wrong with group have prayer sessions for children...but the sudden conception of this group as a result of Maddie? Maybe the strangeness derives from there.

So maybe as Ruby pointed out, this 'group' has a special calling from the 'looking after Maddie's interest'.
