Sorry to argue but what evidence is there that the blood belonged to Madeleine. Any evidence they cleaned up? And Eddie alerted to the wardrobe AFTER being directed there and Cuddlecat was put in there. (and this was after 4 attempts to get Eddie to react)

Yes if "I had killed my daughter, and then got away with it" I would keep out of the spotlight.
It doesn't make sense to keep in the spotlight unless you are innocent.

It makes sense to keep out of the spotlight unless you need a constant feed of money to pay your expensive PR and lawyers to keep you out of gaol. It makes sense unless you would have to wind up your fund and hand the dosh over to a bone fide charity as per your articles of incorporation.
It makes sense if you are so sure of your innocence that you are unruffled by a book about to hit your local bookshop,based on facts of the investigation which comprehensively drives a coach and horses through the nonsense about a bogeyman abductor you and your PR have been peddling for 3 years.
It makes sense to keep out of the spotlight unless you are driven mad with envy that families in similar situation in the USA have been able to gather royalties from books,films , guest appearances, lecture tours,TV presenting jobs and highly lucrative employment with missing persons organizations and they are way way richer than yow
