2 Pieces of info sought

Despite Googling and using search facility I can't find two bits of info I'm looking for and wondered if someone could help please?

I am looking for the quote by Gordon Brown when referring to this case saying the British public couldn't cope with some revelation or other, and the quote by Kate saying there would be riots if she was arrested.

I think what Gordon Brown said was that 'it is a matter of national security' . I'll see if googling that works. It was quite early in the proceedings.
Kate may have written it in her diary about the riots - vaguely remember something like that - otherwise it was the preferred mouthpiece Phil M.

A few days ago I received an interesting letter from Leicestershire police about the Madeleine McCann investigation.

I had asked them, in July, if they had got any warrants (under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act) to use surveillance powers - such as phone tapping and email interception on behalf of the Portuguese police.
The force initially stalled saying it needed to "consult other Agencies" before replying.

After a six month delay, Leicestershire has now claimed it is exempt from Freedom of Information laws in this case due to "national security".

Kate says that in her book (page 246):

Just before she drives to Portimao Police HQ on Sept 7 she says she was thinking "There's going to be a riot when news of all this reaches people back in the UK ... There's no way our government will stand for this. (Four months down the line and still so naive!)"

I'm sure it was here that I read somewhere about a female politician and her nephew (I think) who were in PDL around 3rd. I've done some searches but can't find anything, can anyone remember who it was?

Margaret Hodge and Philip Edmonds; as far as I recall, only he was in PDL at the time.
