The least I could do for Tony who has the courage to do what most of us would not remotely consider.

This video was the beginning portion of one I have been putting together to support him.

The McCanns came up with 3,000 or so pages of evidence against me. Mostly my own articles and postings.

I have responded by making a formal application to the High Court to be free...d from a part of one of the 11 undertakings I gave. That is the part that effectively prevents me from saying anything at all about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann - unless it is to support what the McCanns and their friends say about Madeleine being abducted.

In support of that application is an Affidavit about 65 pages long and with several exhibits.

My second Affidavit, i.e. my Affidavit of defence, is around 100 pages long and has further exhibits.

Obviously much of the contents of these two Affidavits and exhibits consists of factual matetial relevant to Madeleine's disappearance which is never discussed in Britain's mainstream media. At least on 9 and 10 May the content of my Affidavits and exhibits will be made public and those attending the court will hear what is in them.

Probably the central features of the case will be Isabel Hudson's cross-examination of me, and my cross-examination of her - plus I dare say a fair amount of legal argument.

I'm pretty sure the case of Spiller v Joseph in the Supreme Court will come into it (it's available in full on the net).

Most certainly the issue of whether this is a fair trial or not (under Article 6(1), European Convention on Human Rights) will come into it. It is certainly not a fair trial. The nation's most expensive libel lawyers are in the ring against a bloke who cannot afford to be legally represented, legal aid being refused to him on the simple and only ground that his savings are over £8,000.

The right to free speech under Article 8 ECHR will also come into it. It was the law under this Article that made the Portuguese Appeal Court (October 2010) and the Portuguese Supreme Court (March 2011) decide that the general public in Portugal should, after all, be allowed to read Dr Goncalo Amaral's book.

Yet in this land of free speech, I may be sent to prison, lose my savings and half my house for little more than circulating Dr Amaral's findings and commenting on them.

I do not expect justice on 9 and 10 May.

But I hope for it.

I find it so incredulous that the parents of a missing child would pursue anyone to the extent of wanting them in jail for asking questions in a cold case, as if he is the only one. Bizarre! at best. They should visit websleuths.com.

It's easy to get up to those sorts of figures when you charge £1,000 an hour for your services.

No the Mccanns have never been to, or lost in court, media rolled over and paid without the need to. They lost in Pt of course to Amaral, but not here.

If the McCanns lose they will pay nothing, as CR will have special insurance for them.

If you look at the McCanns' main witness statement in these proceedings, that is, the first Affidavit sworn by Partner Isabel Hudson, she avers that the McCanns have very reluctantly decided on this action because they fear that my internet postings on here, and on The Madeleine Foundation website, are harming the search for Madeleine. This will apparently be easier to do once I am out of the way and silenced

The mind absolutely boggles, Tony. Their clients have never personally lifted a finger to search for their daughter. They reckon that things you say are a hindrance to the search. This really would be hilarious if it was not so deadly serious for you personally.

Will they next try to track down the real identities of everyone who posts on this forum and others and shut us all up as well?

Explain all the latest sightings in Spain then. It never stopped Billy the student did it, reporting his sighting that was splashed all over the papers in the last few weeks. It never stopped someone confronting an innocent girl in India did it! The Madeleine Fountain website is reporting FACTS, isn't this a country with free speech that is allowed to report and analyse the FACTS! If you are to ask all the people that made comments on the Sun website for example, I bet 99% would't have have a clue who Tony Bennett was, by name they struggle to know who Amaral is. No comments on there have ever mentioned your name or come even near to. Their thoughts and views never have you in them. Do you seriously think the people of this country discuss this scam and think 'Hang on, Tony Bennett has given out a leaflet or put something on his website, even made a post, so lets stop searching". Absolutely preposterous to the extreme, 60 million people won't know who you are. People only have Maddie on their minds. The very vast majority of people in this country are dictated by what is printed in the Sun and similar papers, this is their belief. Why are governments so desperate for their endorsements at Elections? because they know if the Sun (hence Keith Murdoch) supports them they get the power. An individual will never ever enter the publics minds regardless of their beliefs. So to say Tony your are harming the search is absolute and complete and total tripe. Given at one point Redwood of the Yard said they were investigating leads that Maddie was alive or dead with equal measure I have to ask whether Team McCann plan to sue 50% of Scotland Yard for daring to suggest she's anything but alive? Surely that would hinder the search?
