its going to be 9 years in a few days time . 9 whole years and still no one has come forward from the tapas 7 or any other source . but i think this could be the year that truth not lies will prevail.

But where will that leave the McCanns and Clarence Mitchell as they chat about all "The bids that are already coming in from America" for TENTH anniversary interviews? - as Mitchell mentioned in his disastrous address to the CommsCon in Australia two weeks back.

I suppose it could become an even bigger story than it has already

I did notice in the recording of his PR talk in Australia that he said something along the lines that the bids were coming in for the tenth anniversary and then he added, if of course Maddie hasn't been found by then.

Nine years on, the farrago is yet young. Hillsborough being the benchmark.

On a Hillsborough timescale, the tapas 7 and all the rest of the troupe who "rallied around" the couple - those who swore a cosy "pact of silence" and told outright lies about a missing child - have another 18 years of looking over their shoulder. It is a long stretch before ...erm... a possible long stretch. And then, Bam! The pressure cooker lid flies off. All those who lied and covered up, called to account and the prosecutions begin. Who knows how many will be charged. Indeed, how many different charges there will be. The mind fair boggles. Even bit part players will be caught in the drag net. They played their part in the "occultation of a body", dead or alive.

One thing is for sure, when Goncalo Amaral starts suing "certain entities" (love the word, knocks "trolls" into a cocked hat) the public are going to be appraised of much more detail about the who, the why, the when, and the where.

Luckily, we have so much evidence on video, and print. Take Justine McGuinness for example. What on earth did she mean in that Spanish interview? - the one where Gerald went into meltdown when asked about the dogs. She told him to sit down, answer the questions and "stick to the official line, Gerry". People will want to know what "official line" she was referring to.

Awkward little questions will be asked about all sorts of things, of all sorts of people, such as: how come all the McCann's clothes went to the OC laundry after the British Ambassador expressed dismay to Goncalo Amaral at the intention to remove these items from 5a for the investigation. (See Amaral's account in Chapter 3 of 'The Truth of the Lie')

Personally, I would rather go and live in a hermitage and forage for my food than get in the way of an investigation into an infant's disappearance. Pensions v conscience is what it boils down to. Survival. But how can you said to have survived if you forfeited your conscience along the way?

I won't begin on the charge of misconduct in public office. I don't want anyone to choke on their full English!

Excellent post Mirage. Answers to any awkward little questions might well lead to re-opening in Pt. of the case as could possibly be seen as new evidence. Excellent post indeed.

Gerry - I can't understand it. Here we are almost at the Ninth anniversary. We raised all those funds and planned for many more "anniversaries", we travelled the World and had an "Audience" with the Pope. We have employed every criminal we could find in the search for our little girl - eeerrrrrrmmmm what was her name again Kate?

One thing that crossed my mind, although it does seem a bit far fetched, is whether it would be possible for the police to bring a circumstantial case to court against the three suspected burglars (who would eventually be cleared, because the evidence is not there for a conviction) knowing that it would bring all the relevant parties into court to answer questions?
