What Happened to Madeleine?

Hi Everybody, I have just signed up to the Forum. I have observed from afar over the years the Madeleine McCann Case. This is my first post so I wanted to know what you all think What Happened To Madeleine? I ask this because somebody may point me in the direction of something I haven't thought about before plus I am interested in other peoples opinions.

My personal opinion in basic form is that
- Madeleine had an accident of some sorts (I also include medication in this).
- Parents hid Madeleine's body.
- Everybody is in on the cover-up (well anyone who has any leverage)

Basically that is my theory, I have had other ideas in the past but this one to me seems most logical...however I had just finished watching Robert Hall's - McCann's Embedded Confessions. I did however think that an accident of some sort was what happened before I watched it and after watching his "breakdown" it confirmed my theory.

I could still be wrong...that is why I would like to hear your opinions.

I think it is most likely that Madeleine died as a result of an accident sometime during the evening of May 3 rd 2007.

I think it is probable that her parents wanted to delay a post mortem, and that it's also probable that some, although possibly not all, of the Tapas group assisted them in a cover up.

Hi EnglishBull - I read Amarel's book and I used to think Madeleine died on May 3 but now I think she died around May 1. I think this because of the flurry of telephone activity that spikes May 2 and because of the irregularities with the creche records. There are some excellent threads to read on this site - Hob gives a good exposition and there are interesting threads on creche records, photo discrepancies that are all very informative. I thought the Peter Mac e book is one of the best things I've read on this case. It's a journey of discovery but one thing's for sure - the deeper you dig the murkier it gets.

DNA important detail confirmation of theory on the parents being involved in Madeleines death?

And Martin "faking" it again that the McCanns were absolved of their part in Madeleines disappearance? No Martin they were NOT!

Nobody actually knows except the parents and their vile drinking gang of friends present at the time. What we do acknowledge is:
The McCanns are rubbish parents.
The McCanns are liars.
The McCanns have friends in high places.
Disgusting perhaps but these are the facts.

in my opinion Maddie was not alive on the 3rd of may...... I'm sorry but isn't it obvious, recall the accounts of that day... apparently kate McCann picked Maddie up at 5.30 from the play centre and yet another account says that maddie was at a high tea in the tapas restaurant from 4.45 - 6.00 and seriously they were supposed to be on holiday obviously you would take as many pictures as possible right?? ive said it right from the start the mccanns are covering something up. does anyone know of any cctv evidence that states Maddie was "alive" up to 6pm on the 3rd of may?? its a holiday park surely there would be cctv of some sort some where. That would be the first thing I would look at if i was the lead investigator.

Hello I'm new here too. Seems to me the McCanns have devised their own punishment - to lie endlessly in one interview after another. They obviously did kill their daughter, probably by accident. Could have been overdosing... I noted recently that Kate went constantly to the twins on the night of 3rd May and resting her hand on them to check they were still breathing. (Fiona Payne's testimony). Fiona (an anaesthetist herself) thought it very strange that the twins did not wake up that night despite huge commotion. So it seems to me Kate was used to dosing up her children to suit. Maybe she got the dose wrong for Madeleine - either under, so she woke up and then fell, or over, and she died of anaphylactic shock. Maybe Kate lashed out when the poor girl was being 'loud' - we don't know. Needs a really good crime scene analysis based on forensic evidence.

I saw the embedded confession and that's what got me interested in this case. I would like to attempt a statement analysis, so I'd love to know if anyone can tell me please: is there anywhere I can find interviews in Kate and Gerry's own words? I was hoping to find one in the PJ files similar to the Tapas friends (Leicester 2008) but there doesn't appear to be one.

Do you know what I am thinking now? I think that Monday afternoon, Kate took Madeleine out of the crèche early (3.30pm), possibly because the child had been showing signs of tiredness.
After leaving the twins at their crèche, Kate decided to double back to the Mini Club, and put Madeleine to bed for a few hours. Kate then left the apartment locking all doors.
Madeleine awoke, (if she slept at all), and realizing that no one else was in the apartment, she tried to get out. She possibly became hysterical as she tried to open the doors, the windows. She climbed on the sofa to look out that window.
Later, when Kate and Gerry returned, they found her, not in her bed- but lying behind the sofa.
I think it was then, that Gerry would have to restrain Kate by gripping her by the arms.
(They could not allow her body to be found as past sexual abuse of the child would be discovered. The cadaver scent in the garden of the apartment was because the bag -with her body inside -had been set down there at some point during removal.)

I have yet to fully commit to why Madeleine's body couldn't be submitted for autopsy. There are many theories - sedation, evidence of physical/sexual assault, an illness/ injury not adequately dealt with etc. My gut feeling about the McCanns is that having struggled their way from humble beginnings to middle-class respectability, they were petrified of anything which could tarnish their reputations or careers. Autopsy would establish time of death and if, for any reason, it emerged that Madeleine had been dead (other than dying in the middle of the night) for several hours before it was reported that would immediately raise issues about their child-minding abilities, which of itself would be reputation damaging. I also believe Monday afternoon is vital. That was Madeleine's first day at the creche and the fact that she had to be collected only 15 mins into the afternoon session suggests she either played up or became ill and had to be removed. Who had to mind her on Monday afternoon? There is no reference to this in their statements and that in itself is interesting.
