I haven't seen that film clip of K & G for quite some time. I must say that Gerry looks furious (you could almost see the steam coming out the top of his head) and Kate obviously shaken (and trembling) by Gerry's reaction to her "dream".

Ricardo Paiva in that link seems to have them both well sussed and is nobody's fool.

Always thought there was something of the slighted woman about that hatred of Paiva. Of course she'd think he was attracted to her. Their treatment of these officers is quite revealing, Gerry gives him rubbishy fairy tales and Kate lets her children play with his and presumes he must be at least half in love with her - no wonder the f.... t.....r got his comeuppance in the bewk.

Sorry if I am going off topic slightly, but I have been looking for the above clip for ages - thought it had been whooshed.

I think this is one of the most important interviews in this case. I would have thought that for the parents of a missing child, every sighting would be etched on their hearts. I know that 'hope' can be one of the more destructive human emotions, but if they can convince themselves that Madeleine is still alive, why not believe that a sighting to could lead to her? or that a snippet of information could be the piece of the puzzle they are searching for? Their stoicism is bizarre.

So the inspector lied in court?

In the clip Mrs. says there is no evidence to show Madeleine has come to any harm, no evidence this that and the other, why not say Madeleine is alive and we continue to look for her, why always the emphasis on no evidence?

I may have missed it in the clip, but did Mrs. deny that she had phoned the inspector - Mr. did, but I didn't hear Mrs. deny it?

If she didn't deny then how can he be so adamant that she did not have the dream and did not ring the inspector about it. He wasn't there at the time?

According to the court testimony of the McCanns' liaison officer, Ricardo Paiva, the suspicions of Amaral and his team were hardened by what was seen as a turning point in the police investigation.

Denial by Gerry
On the steps of the court Gerry publicly denies that Kate had had any such dream

He then went on to contradict Dr Paiva's evidence that Kate had seen Madeleine on a hillside in a dream. Gerry is Mr. Control personified. Yes, I think he was livid. I've actually never seen what I can interpret as genuine love towards Kate.
Here is the well-known 'Did you know Robert Murat' - 'No comment' - but watch how Gerry decides to go and just pulls Kate after him - impolite, inconsiderate and plain rude.

The first interview with Jane Hill from the BBC - 25 May 2007

"Kate: (Pause) I mean, I did. Errm... (Long Pause) Errm, we'd been working really hard really. Apart... I mean, the first 48 hours, as Gerry said, are incredibly difficult and we were almost non-functioning, "

But imagine that they were working really hard. On the one hand they have to organise a vociferous campaign for abduction and nothing but and also give statements and deal with daily issues with general living from day to day and coping without Madeleine. So any inference that they knew anyone there previously has to be shut down. Hence Gerry's reaction to the Murat question.

Same with "the dream" later on the Court steps. This is real evidence they have to discredit so Gerry denies and ends up with "not with those words". It's scary because Portugal is the investigating authority.

I don't think they were given a choice as regards Ambassadors, Control Risks etc., etc., etc. They were given this support whether they wanted it or not. They ended up having to run two different types of control, one for UK and one for Portugal - dealing with the media, their campaign and interviews, what they can say and what not to say - it needed this man power and probably still does.

I wonder about the possible approaching Court case with GA and how this will be handled. Will UK Government step in or not? Something has got to give one way or another - UK or Portugal - is this the diplomatic problem?

I looked at this one, and see at 0.07 to 0.09 our Clarrie, in attendance already. As Gerry marches off, Kate still attached and following like a skipping rope being dragged along behind, a man is almost knocked over by Kate and yes, as someone in the comments below noted, it's our pink ponce. Does anyone have a date for this interview. It looks early on and I thought Pinkie was only taken on after a visit to Leicester police, when Gerry returned home ~~to fake the last photo.~~ get some real DNA for Maddie. Thanks NFWTD I went to see where you'd got that info from because I hadn't seen it and watching again, I noticed at 0.04 secs, a flash headline says 22 May 2007. So when did Gerry go to UK? Perhaps he had already been to UK and come back with that horrible pink thing in his suitcase...surprised it was let through Portuguese customs, but they might not have known then what we know now.
