Madeleine. The Missing years.
If this has been debated before, apologies and please scrap candyfloss. Thanks.
My suggestion has no bearing of that I'm aware, as to what happened to little darling Madeleine, however, there is much speculation on the forum as to her missing years between being a baby and almost four years of age in terms of info and pictures.
I made a throwaway remark over the weekend, that the only reason I could think for an abduction, is that someone wanted her returned. I described that as "baseless" which I stand by.
Reading the forum since my remark though , the subject of Madeleine's missing years kept cropping up in member's posts and I think there is an innocent explanation and explains a lot of observations, such as Madeleine didn't seem to be involved at Christmas until the event. KM saying the twins had little to do with her. So much fits.
I hate creating a new topic, but here goes, and it's in defence of the Mccans, as if we don't eliminate, then we cannot accuse.
Simply put, did Madeleine live with friends or relatives until coming home to start school near the 2007 term?
Back to the beginning, all documented by the McCanns. They had a hard time with Maddie as a baby, but I defy anyone to say those pictures holding Madeleine by either were not of happiness. The pic of GM and Maddie looking soaking wet was one of sheer joy. I believe that they both loved her at that time.
Come the twins and OMG, one hyper, in their eyes jealous little girl and help was needed even if flown down from Scotland.
What to do then? A fraught mum, a jealous demanding child, and twins to take care of.
Send Madeleline to relatives.
Hence her missing years.
That's why I believe there are no pics or memories of Madeleine from baby to 4. I do believe though that although KM had great problems, she loved Madeleine and GM loved Madeleine very much.
This has little to do with what happened in PdL, but maybe the emotional distance from their daughter helped them cope.

My heart wants to believe this. Then my head and my gut ask me why all the powerful people were in place within hours. Who else with a supposedly modest life could possibly summon ALL of those people within hours?

Re: Madeleine. The Missing years.
That would also fit with the question the PJ put to her.
"41. Is it true that in England you even considered handing over Madeleine’s custody to a relative?"
We always wondered where that sprang from. Who told them ? It is not a usual question to ask of anyone. They must have known the answer before they asked it.

Yes the 'is it true' sounds like they had been tipped off. I wonder who?

Was GM asked the same question, and what was his answer to it?

Re: Madeleine. The Missing years.
I do not believe Madeleine spent long periods away from her parents though it's possible she might have spent odd extended 'holidays' with some relatives in order to relieve her parents before and after the birth of the twins. I would be interested to find out the identity of the lady holding Madeleine over S & A's christening cake.
Kate describes how Madeleine suffered from colic and sleeplessness for several months until September when they went to Italy for the Paynes' wedding, and how they would end up huddled together in the kitchen and cry with her.
The reason why the MCs were apparently so void of genuine grief (as opposed to mattress bashing and wailing in very public places) after her demise could be because Madeleine was unwell and her death was foreseen and/or even considered a blessing to stop her further suffering.

I believe that's Auntie Nora.

I am not so sure. Nora Paul has always been photographed with short hair and this lady's nose looks much narrower.admin wrote:Ribisl wrote: I would be interested to find out the identity of the lady holding Madeleine over S & A's christening cake.

Re: Madeleine. The Missing years.
The nose is very different. Other features can droop with age or grief but the nose doesn't change that much. The two ladies are also wearing their watches on different wrists....not that we can be certain that the sharp nosed lady actually owns the left arm as it is portrayed in the photo. The sharp nosed lady has features very similar to Kate's.Ribisl wrote:I am not so sure. Re: Madeleine. The Missing years.
The arms are a bit confusing in the cake photo but the one with the watch is definitely that of the person on the left and the one holding Madeleine's very strange looking arm is Kate's.
Newspaper reports have said that the other woman is Aunt Nora but, judging by other photos of her, she isn't.

Re: Madeleine. The Missing years.
JD, it's been discussed at length before that the birthday cake has to be for the twins when they were two (pink and blue icing) so that would be in February 2007.
I know some reports say it was Madeleine's 2nd birthday but that must be an error.

Seems like the two womans supposed to be aunt nora, she has the watch on different hands on those pictures.. Is it not normal to always have your watch on the same hand, always? So from that I conclude that it is not Nora Paul on the cake picture..

Re: Madeleine. The Missing years.
I'm convinced that picture is Susan Healy with long hair. And definately can't be Madeleine's second birthday, she is far too big. Seems dubious also that it would be the twins second birthday as that is in February and they are all dressed in summer clothes. I believe there is another photo from that day where Madeleine is in the garden with her cousins, and it certainly wasn't February as the garden is too green and there are flowers in the borders. Maybe a belated birthday party for the twins when relatives were visiting?

Re: Madeleine. The Missing years.
I too thought it was Susan Healey except for the hair. The hair in the picture is coarse and very thick. SH has fine hair. @00.31 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Genbug wrote:I'm convinced that picture is Susan Healy with long hair. Is there not any more photos of that Aunt to compare with the cake photo?

Re: Madeleine. The Missing years.
Just to be different, I carry my watch in my pocket or bag as I find it uncomfortable on my wrist!
I've never seen a photo of Susan Healy with long hair; here's one of her and Aunt Nora together.

Yes I agree I remember reading somewhere when this was published it was the twins 2nd B'day and so as not to leave MM out of the celebrations they let her blow the candles out again after the twins had. Cannot remember who they said the lady was but I do think she looks like Susan Healy more than Nora and maybe she likes to wear a long wig!!!! More likely had her hair cut!
On another note can anyone put the other pictures of the party together to see the greenery you talk about etc?
